  2. Eurobricks forum member Just2Good has revealed that there will be a surprise addition to the summer LEGO Star Wars line up in the form of a Rebel Combat Frigate (set 75158). Supposedly it is based on the animated Rebels series and will include an Ahsoka Tano minifig.

  5. 21017 Imperial Hotel "Fun build" is not usually associated with the architecture line but the Imperial Hotel build was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and not too repetitive. I would have liked more architect information in the manual because I do not know as much about this set as I do for the other architecture sets.

  8. Oh my God. I am running a garage sale to sell this stuff off not buy more. Damn 20% off with the stack of a 15% off credit card. With a $5 reward and a couple other rewards. UUUUGGGHHHH. I can not go and buy more of this stuff at 30% discount (and who knows what I will find on clearance.) Can I not just have one weekend without temptation????

  9. Reduces the shipping costs by quite a bit to buy more than 1. You also have to follow through to the end to see the price because the advertised price of £74.97 includes VAT (the European tax). When you enter a North American shipping address, VAT will be subtracted from the price. Then when you enter two, you will see your shipping costs only go up by a couple bucks making the cost per unit go down. There is usually a sweet spot on the # per order and depends on box size... For the Crawler Crane it must be two!

  10. I'm sure someone will be able to get you a picture, but here's what I would suggest you tell them. "I appreciate your concern, but all large boxes such as the LEGO 10228 Haunted House are sealed using 2 tape seals on each end. This allows LEGO to seal boxes in a way that builders can open them without destroying the box. Only the smallest boxes use punch tabs for opening the boxes. Each tape seal has a code on it that shows the date it was packed at the LEGO factory. If you are not satisfied, you can return the sealed set for a full refund - at your own cost and minus the original shipping fee. A refund will not be issued until I receive the set and verify that it is in the condition I sent it." Then you wait... if they choose to send it back, great. Don't give them that refund until you have it in your hands.... and unfortunately you should now open it to verify the contents. Don't worry, it won't be worth any less open... maybe a couple bucks, but that's worth your peace of mind isn't it? If they open a case with eBay, just keep it honest. No name calling, cite your positive feedback all around, etc. Return Fraud is a real thing, but in reality it will help you very little here unless the buyer has had multiple complaints against them to their local police department. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Return_fraud

  12. And the Ideas Caterham! How could I forget that? This is going to be a good year for petrolheads who love LEGO. Hopefully this GT3RS is going to be the beginning of a series of "UCS Technic Supercars".

  15. This would indeed cause a great disruption in the Force. Can you imagine what would happen if Lego released 500,00 arm-printed Boba Fett minifigures into the wild? UCS Slave 1 would take a decent-sized hit and there would be no reason to sell the figure separately. If Lego is going to license Star Wars, they'll probably get Marvel as well. The Lego superhero aftermarket is already in a world of hurt right now, but this would be the absolute death blow. No other line is more minifigure reliant than superheroes.

  17. Disney Infinity is being discontinued, as announced yesterday. What are your thoughts if Disney is still interested in having a share of the toys to life business and licenses Star Wars for LEGO Dimensions? I see this as having a very large impact on the Star Wars minifigure secondary market? Just throwing this out there...

  18. I think you're walking too deep into the weeds, Jeff. You're arguing sub-points on sub-points without everybody understanding your broader position. Let me try to sum up your stance: OT was great all-around cinema. PT was conceptually great but poorly executed. TFA was conceptually un-original (but in my own words: pretty well executed). Most look at it from a cinematic perspective so OT > TFA >>>> PT. But you appreciate that Lucas aimed for Mars (despite his rocket exploding before it even left the atmosphere) whereas it disappointed you that Disney was content to return to the moon, so OT > PT > TFA. It's not an outrageous position like people are suggesting. Had Lucas been able to recruit other directors successfully (he tried) then I do think that the PT (same outline and all) could've been awesome (and better than TFA) for the reasons you've outlined.

  19. Actually a Conservatory. A conservatory is a building or room having glass roofing and walls used as a greenhouse or a sunroom. If in a residence, it would typically be attached to the house on only one side. Conservatories originated in the 16th century when wealthy landowners sought to cultivate citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges that began to appear on their dinner tables brought by traders from warmer regions of the Mediterranean.

  27. Yes, I put more faith in FiveThirtyEight. I'm guessing you don't read the NYT or follow American politics, so I'll fill you in on FiveThirtyEight's bona fides. The founder, Nate Silver, helped pioneer big data analytics in sports and politics. In 2012, he and his group correctly predicted the outcomes of all 50 states in the Presidential election, and he authored a NYT best seller that went on to be named the number 1 non-fiction book of 2012 by Amazon.com. That's not to say that there was as much thought put into this particular poll, but this type of polling is one of their areas of expertise. Rotten Tomatoes is useful, but not in a scientifically rigorous way. Their aggregate system is a dubious way to measure something like a film's "quality". In the FiveThirtyEight poll, people were asked specifically to pick the best movie out of the six, and only the responses from people who had seen all six movies were considered. The RT "study", on the other hand, was not a head-to-head comparison. The reviewers of one movie may not have even seen the others, or may not have submitted a review for the others. To further muddy the water, the RT "study" cherry-picked original release reviews. This is a questionable methodology because it ignores contextual biases. For example, Jedi may have been perceived as a disappointment because it directly followed A New Hope and Empire. Similarly, Eps I and II set the bar pretty low for Sith. On the other hand, one could argue that the prequels were such an unfamiliar departure from the OT that it artificially deflated their initial reception. These contextual biases make an objective comparison difficult, particularly when comparing reviews from two narrow and distinct time frames. Keep in mind that these reviews, assigned a number score, were written within the context of their respective contemporary summer blockbusters. Furthermore--even without consideration to those contextual biases--there are many films currently celebrated as classics that were dismissed by critics upon their debut, only to be rediscovered and re-appraised years later. Critics change their minds, films grow or diminish in stature, and this project ignores all of that to arrive at its conclusion. No study, poll, or person is completely free from biases, which is what allows this debate to continue on ad naseum. However, when trying to gauge consensus opinion among fans, the most appropriate type of poll is one which ranks the films relative to one another (i.e. head to head). I will say that this debate has been somewhat illuminating to me. I had no idea that there were people in the world who would argue for any of the PT over any of the OT. Even the attached IMDB results surprise me.

  30. Good day all I've been signed up to brickpicker now for 3-4 weeks. Done plenty of reading/research and even made a few posts, but thought it was time I introduced myself. Got back into Lego at the end of last year when I was buying some minecraft sets for my boy. Saw some of the Old Republic Star Wars sets and thought I'm going to spoil myself and buy a few to build and enjoy. Then I started to look at other sets online and started to research lego investing. The information on here is great, and has helped guide me during my first few months of "investing". I'm only ever going to be a small scale investor, with the hope of starting to make alittle money in 1-2 years (whenever the sets I have invested in start to retire). I've been focussing on Star Wars sets as those interest me the most and appear to be a safer bet at this time. When I get the time I'll post a pic of my limited investment stock in the "stock room" forum. Anyway, happy building and investing people!!

  37. The European LEGO Shop at Home sites are front-ends to the same back-site. Meaning: you don't have to check individual EU LEGO Shop at Home sites for stock because the stock is the same for all of them. They only use different sites to cater for (A) language differences, and (B) price-differences.

  38. TLG would definitely not put three years of development and cooperation with Porsche to sell a measly 10,000 copies of the set and not say anything about it prior to launch. This rumor started with the similarities one can draw with 41999, except that 41999 was a crowd-sourced design based on a existing chassis, and it was 20,000 copies total. Let's all take a step back and stop talking about a supposed limited run like it's a fact. It most definitely is not, all evidence points towards the set being some sort of Technic UCS.

  41. Shouldn't matter that it's a freight forwarder. Should show up as delivered if in fact was. Why not ask the buyer if it was delivered? I don't see the issue shipping the other two, maybe you don't want to use USPS for the second one, pay for signature confirmation. I've sold a few silver centurions and more than half went to Korean people. No issues with any of them. (Are you saying Chinese sounding because you know it to be or are you just saying cuz it sounds Asian)

  45. Need to see the parts, but with a good number of figs and no doubt play features looks like a great play set for the price range. I think Lego are doubling down with the Ninjago movie next year, some the best sets we’ve seen recently have been Ninjago.

  46. Sorry for going slightly off topic with these guys. There's a site over here called Adverts.ie, not sure what the Uk equivalent, but something like Craigslist. Fees are tiny so can sell at well below ebay rates, sales are generally cash and people come and collect from me. Sometimes it's paypal and I either get people to cover fees or send it by gift so no fees. If there's shipping involved I get them to pay it. With a big enough discount most sets can turn a profit, but obviously we only have so much cash to spend, so you still need to choose wisely. Many on here regret their 50%/60% off Chima purchases. There are some types of sets which I think are general winners. When like today Smyths reduce a €100 set to €50, it's hard not to win. Obviously you have a good discount to start with, but also these sets are substantial and look it. The importance of this is that people want to get bang for their buck and if they're seeing a big set at a decent price they're more likely to bite. The general public don't think about Lego as much as us and it's not necessarily that they're stupid, they just don't have our knowledge and don't react as fast as us. For example on the Ferrari Truck I visited 4 of the 6 Smyths in Dublin today picking up all 3 sets that were in those stores, so general public hasn't had the opportunity to buy at €50.
