Built this yesterday. Fun little build, especially for a free set!

[Scene: Interior. A New York City apartment. There is a knock at the door.] Woman: [speaking through closed door] Yes? Voice: (mumbling) Mrs. Arlsburgerhhh? Woman: Who? I-I'm only a dolphin, ma'am. Woman: A dolphin? Well... Okay. [opens door] [Huge latex and foam-rubber shark head lunges through open door, chomps down on woman's head, and drags her out of the apartment, as Jaws attack music plays.]

To add to the conversation, this set is a head turner. It's unlike any other set made by lego. I know many people who feel the same as myself. I'm not a LOTR fan either. I don't hate it. I simply haven't given the books or movies any time. Despite that, it transcends the fact that I could care less about LOTR. I plan to keep one of the ones I bought. Perhaps I'm being simple minded about it, but that's why I'm investing in this one. I think It's going to be a big winner in the long run. But I'm not relying on a quick turnaround to generate income off of this like some of the people on this site. This is a hobby to me. I'll use the proceeds of sales to pay for other sets that I want. So my investment strategy is to either grab the sets that truly stand out or ones that are such an awesome deal, I can't possibly lose. This one stands out.

Everyone forgot that Ewoks were CARNIVORE. They considered humanoid flesh a DELICACY. Just go back and think about the reason they captured Han and Leia. I always wonder if the Ewoks cooked those fallen stormtroopers and served them at the celebration at the end of the movie. What would the best way to treat honored guests? Serve them the best food ie. the delicacy. At least it would explain the collection of stormtrooper helmets at their treehouses

If LEGO is indeed suffering from a lack of inventory, then I guess the banning of resellers and customers with questionable buying habits will become more and more common.

If I ever get banned, I will take it as a sign that I've reached a level of success to necessitate graduating from reseller to retailer. It would give me an excuse to put the he work into getting a business licence and start buying wholesale. If you get banned, it's time to go pro!

I would think Ideas is a Pilot/Proof of Concept style projects that's consumer driven. It's NOT supposed to have long legs on purpose. If it proves successful, moving it into main line production would be done -- eg Minecraft. Would say the same for all the Theme branded projects, especially ones already with relations like Wall-E Disney. With RI, I believe there's a viable subsegment for these vingnettes--look at the seasonal sets over the past year. I believe that's a direct result of RI's success.

it depends... I generally try to keep each lot separated so the buyer doesn't have to spend more than a wink on their end (why not, you've already spent the time sorting your inventory - might as well pass that effort on to the receiver). small lots I do sometimes combine together if they are significantly visually different, such as obvious colour or distinctive shape. I don't package small parts with much larger parts or where they might get missed of stuck inside of. never ever never mix used & new. I always package printed parts isolated from other parts & if at all possible with opposing printed sides to reduce chance of scratches. most parts go into 2mil Ziplocs (I keep a supply of 8-10 different sizes) but minifigs always go into individual 2x3 4mil ziplocs (or 6mil if they are of significant value) when packing plates I always place them stud-side to stud-side so they don't get "assembled" in transit so to speak, also conserves space, likewise slopes when in small quantity I'll place face against flip-face. for windscreens I'll usually put a piece of light foam in to protect it's surface, you can get a roll of very lightweight laminate flooring foam underlay from the BORG for next to nothing & the roll will last years of packaging! (BORG = Big Orange Retail Giant, ie: Home Depot) Ziploc baggies are real cheap but some buyers don't like to see over packaging either so it's basically a judgement call on your part. I always use new first-use packaging myself rather than used baggies - baggies are cheap & it's kinda depressing to find your items packed in crumpley or worse dirty old used baggies.

I don't mean this to be offensive to Tabby or anyone else, but any one of us who gets caught/banned or whatever, we really have no right to complain - or be shocked. We know the policies and risks, and we take chances playing with fire. Tabby, in particular - you bought 99 of one particular set. If you don't see that this is not something a normal consumer would do - :shrug: I just can't really believe you are shocked and outraged. yes, maybe it took a long time for them to notice - But it's like a lot of things in life. Employers, businesses, governments, journalists, spouses, let little things go (and stack up, but keep notes) and then when they need a reason to - bammo. They have the ammo. So who knows why they didn't ban you before. But their policy clearly states they don't want to sell to resellers. They have targeted you as a reseller, which regardless of proof, is accurate. It's weird to me that people expect LEGO, simply because they are a company, to be blind deaf and dump and put up with stuff we as individuals would not. Similarly, someone who buys 99x of a $150 set, I don't think that makes you a small fry. That's a $15,000 purchase. That's a new car. It's not Emazers numbers, but it's "more than a side hobby" numbers. I'd bet $15,000 in a year is more than 90% of the people on this site spend. And again, this all HELPS US (except those who get caught, and really even those people). The fact that LEGO cares at all helps keep demand high and prices high, and prevents REAL big time guys (like the overseas knock off creators) from doing the same sort of thing en-masse. LEGO cares about their brand name and image. They, even more than all of us, have a very strong interest in keeping their product exclusive, expensive, and in demand. And as Ed mentioned, especially in Europe where they have already announced there will be shortages this year, I expect a crackdown on suspect/actual resellers.

I just bought a Slave 1 from them a couple weeks ago. It was retail, The Tumbler is usually $199.99, they had T1 Camper at $119.99 for a bit, and the $99.99 Mini Cooper, and I also bought a Sea Cow from them recently for $249.99. I do believe the Sandcrawler was also $299.99 when they were in-stock.

Lego should ban everyone that has, is or will spend more than 10 seconds of their time calculating whether it is better to spend VIP points in double VIP period or not. Trust me, they will be doing you a favour.

I've had my images "stolen", but I can't think of any reason it would bother me. It's actually kind of flattering. Sure, there's another person who is too lazy to take their own pictures, but if we're talking about a Lego box, what difference does it really make?

If you're up for putting in the effort, escalate it. It will get picked up by the FBA team in the states (WA) rather than the overseas first line support. I've only had to do it a couple of times but everyone that I've worked with over the phone in the US from the escalations team has been very helpful and rational. My advice would just be to keep things very factual and unemotional - the situation shows itself clearly enough.

Only when there is good reason for it. This set is big, a licensed but finished theme, nerd friendly, not easy to bricklink and apparently underhoarded (for 2015) so it can´t do badly.

People are making a huge mistake passing on this set in my opinion.

Lego EU / Asia is now TOOS of IR, TRT and RE. Looks like this line could be gold for the rest of the world i the next couple of months as well.

My Endor Trooper packs have been selling for $30 on Amazon, so I'm still a believer. I usually pick these up whenever I can get them $5-$7, so if you can sell for $17-$25, they are a good winner. I usually bundle 2 together for $35-$40 to lessen the hassle.
