  1. Thanks, Alpine. I really do have limited room to store sets and unfortunately I only have my closet to work with. I'm planning on buying another Pet Shop and maybe a Palace Cinema and then I may use the money for some other things that I need. Plus, I gave the wifey some money as well. It's the first time I've been able to do that and I wanted to show her that this Lego investing wasn't a waste of time.

  3. So I just made my first "pure" investment purchase it's 17-20 lbs. Of bulk for $143.50 shipped on eBay And from what I've seen I see the latest Harry Potter castle, hogwarts express, knight bus, Hagrids hut, freeing Dolby, possibly the smaller hogwarts castle add on, dumbledoors office, Loki's helicarrier breakout, that giant rare baseplate, possibly some clear bricks ( I don't know if they're real or fake) and whatever other mysteries lie in there . I saw a lot of minifigures and minifigure parts so I'm sure it's a winner, I can't wait to see how much money I make once everything is said and done

  7. What happened to the price of this set in the US when the new version was announced? That was before pictures of the actual set were released which confirm it to be near identical.... When the new one comes out and gets down to 100USD on discount, most people are going to be looking very hard at those satellite dishes to justify paying 2.5 times more! Of course, hoarding 7965 till the new one retires as well or sells out at Xmas is another option but is it really going to ever be a 300/350 USD set? I´d rather be clearing the shelves of the new one before the Xmas rush.....

  8. Believe it or not: LEGO The Lone Ranger Constitution Train Chase (79111) I even made some money! Very small money but honestly I'm happy that I sold it without losing money.

  9. Just got the TRU pre-order and the box is HUUUGE (like Trump says). If the MSRP really is $49.99, its a steal. Time for some QFLL action.

  11. I took a huge risk and bought a LOT of these at the end of last year thinking there was a good chance they would be gone in January 2015. Unfortunately it didn't happen so I've been holding them a while, but glad to see it is finally going up. Makes me feel a little better for all the room they take up!!!

  15. It was good times. Even waiting in line, chummed it up with a guy from brickset forums and talked jurassic world and millenium falcon. Was also worth watching 2 adult couples maneuvering thru store in the most obvious way, along with tons of looks, nods, and whispering while trying to get more of the lego store openings than allowed. All that was missing to make it any more obvious would have been some camo face paint, walkie talkies and a t shirt with reseller printed on it. If they are reading this, next time remember to calm down and smile and act like you are in a toy store. Its supposed to be fun isnt it:)

  16. I do. Most won't care. Disney has a huge fan base with about 95% crossover with Star Wars fans. It will only help sales to have their marketing behind it. I think most are happy Disney is adding movies, toys, other media and theme parks. All Star Wars investors should be pleased that the franchise is only growing in popularity. Disney was the ideal buyer for fans and I couldn't be happier. They are a great company. This is set should do fine as now they can make more Millenium Falcons without it being the exact same version. Prices certainly won't be going down.

Got a pic with son in store so in 6 years when he is forced, i mean wants to apply to work there, maybe the pic will help grease the wheels to my personal goldmine....i mean a great part time job for him:)

  22. The sweet spot to sell pricewise would appeart o have been April/May, the new one is basically a 2015 Model Year iteration and 8 out of 10 people would not know the difference - the box art is probably the biggest change along with the minifigs. Reminds me a bit of a certain toy shop set...... The new one is going to take the bulk of sales and only completists are going to be after the old one. The correction in prices already happened so now it is probably going to stagnate around the 200 mark or have very gentle increase.

  24. I think the time to dump was a few months ago right before/just after the episode 7 set list was leaked. At this point if I still had any I would probably hold long term to see how it compares to the new set and for the OT die hards in the future. Unless you need the money, of course.

  27. I'm approaching my anniversary on Brickpicker, and wanted to share a few things I've learned over the last year. For full disclosure, I wasn't new to Lego reselling when I joined, but I had just started accumulating sets again for the first time in four or five years. I'll (try to) keep it simple: 1. This site, it's forums, and most members, are wonderful resources for those willing to listen. I'm very thankful for the Macks, mods, and veterans for what they are willing to share. I've learned the value of discount gift cards, Target RC magic online, "rollovers" (buying gift cards with gift cards), "slow and steady wins the race," and more. 2. It's not about you. Or me. Or any of us alone. Ego is a killer. It feeds emotion and blinds reason--two things any investor/entrepreneur should avoid like the plague. 3. Having a plan and following that plan (most of the time) is the best strategy. It helps curb emotional spending and keeps the focus on the goal. Revisit and evaluate the plan often. Is it working? 4. A good plan takes timing into consideration. There is a time to horde and a time to sell. A time to flip and a time to be patient. I've learned what works for someone else does not necessarily work for me. We all have different resources (time, money, space), and must use them accordingly. 5. And, not an original by any means, but if it isn't making you money or making you happy, why do it? I'm fortunate enough to gain both from Lego. Thanks to Brickpicker, I've learned the value of exclusives, shipping sales at Staples, and what Raise is all about. I've avoided ban hammers and scammers. I've started to build something I hope will grow and adapt with me for years because, let's all face it, investing/reselling Lego is an changing marketplace. It really always has been and always will be. Thanks to all, and happy picking.

  28. An article was published today in the UK paper The Telegraph. Ed was interviewed in this article. If anyone in the UK can find a copy of this and send us a few that would be great. I will pay for all costs. Lego a 'better investment than shares and gold'

  44. Thanks for the comments and advice guys. Especially Terry... you were very straight forward. What I also do when I advice my friends. Appreciate that. I am still undecided. My wife likes it alot and told me to buy it instead of the Red-5. It is truly a unique set. Though I do not like it as much as I would like to. I am not an Ewok fan and I am not particularly fond of the boxart. But when I see it displayed in the Legostore it is impressive! When I check ebay it is offered more than ToO. ToO is retired in Europe. So I could draw a careful conclusion EV is more hoarded than ToO. Also it is a shame it is not an UCS set. The price certainly would justify it. Some months ago I mentioned in this thread that I would only buy one if I did not know what else to buy. And there it is. I dunno what else to buy. PS is so lame. Red-5 is not exclusive anymore according to Lego. I will leave it in the cart and sleep on it tonight.
