Received a Raptor Escape from Wal Mart today from an order placed last week and it had a seal code of 09R5, so they're still shipping older stock.5 points

Personally, I like Jangbricks' reviews better as I think his reviews are more technical, comprehensive, and better articulated.4 points

I was doing a little searching around for some modular size Hall of Justice instructions and I stumbled upon this: Now my son wants me to build it.3 points

The rough and "just out of bed" look is part of the appeal in my eyes. After all, we are talking about LEGO sets. No need to be formal or stuffy. It's all good fun.3 points

So... A: somebody screwed up trying to fix the exclusive tag. B: they forgot to add the check back soon note. C: I should have bought that one at the lego store yesterday...2 points

Hah! Modulars really don't get played with in our house, just because they are up on my desk.(though I'm about out of space with the whole series up there) I have no problem swooshing a ship or driving a little car around the town when it's set up. Sets like Olivia's House are much more conducive to play with the back open.2 points

Riiiiiight. I bet most here play with the "kids lego" when they go to bed. Swooshing and swishing... heh.2 points

The Brick Show guys are 'your average joes' (that also are a couple of fathers if I am not mistaken) who review LEGO and for that I enjoy them over another reviewer whom would come across as a paid infomercial or some salesman. The 'growl' is a signature of their channel and overall attitude. If I had anything to complain over it would be the long lengths in some of their video segments which can go on for a while. For myself I tend to watch JANGBRiCKS because his reviews seem more to the point (aka short), he has pointed out some pieces of interest (rarely used color or part type), and his calm tone works well. Rarely have I watched any of his clips where he said anything was terrible really. Sometimes he makes suggestions that may have worked better but then reiterates he can see why they (the LEGO designers) did what they had. There really isn't a 'one is better than the other' speech here. It all is merely a matter of personal preference and everyone has theirs.2 points

If folk would raise the prices faster on eBay, it would do better even more - but the one off resellers are keeping the appreciation down to a crawl. Overall prices still slowly rising.2 points

No offense, but this thread is in serious need of housekeeping. It used to be for posting of Lego official retirement announcements, that was it. If this thread had new content, you could bet you'd be reading about retired sets. Yes, my post needs removed, too. Perhaps a mod can clean this thing up. We have many other threads to discuss speculation, markets, etc. I've actually been quite busy, lately, and haven't had nearly as much time to read and contribute to BP. But, I do check a few threads, including this one, just to track my portfolio and stay on top of market developments. Please keep this one on topic.2 points

Finally, I can participate in this thread and not just watch from the sidelines. Made my first eBay sale today! A vintage era 6247 Bounty Boat for $28.50 CAD shipped. Original buy-in $0, childhood toy. Pretty stoked, haha.2 points

I'm not an expert but how expensive are we talking corvette or Bugatti? Moving around images that they already own to fit on a box they currently use can't be be all that costly for a graphic designer on payroll can it?1 point

I always break everything into single pieces. Wash and dry. Sort. Then collect all the pieces per set. Finally build it.1 point

Have sold some more used sets from the giant lot I've been going through. Piles don't seem to be getting a whole lot smaller, either. Recently went through Aqua Raiders, Prince of Persia, Space Police, Agents, Mars Mission. You know, the jewels of any collection. Working on City sets right now. The good thing about this taking up all my free selling time is that I've been away from the stockroom wondering what I can sell next and leaving it alone for awhile.1 point

I just wanted to share a thought i had, and see if you all agree / disagree, what-have-you. Hasbro has raised the price of the classic 3.75" star wars figure from 9.99 to 12.99 The fact that they're already 9.99 may surprise the casual action figure fan as they were 1.99 in the olden days, 4.99-5.99 in the POTF2 days, and now moving from 9.99 to 12.99 as we transition to Episode 7. That's a HUGE increase. 30%. If there's ONE figure i'm dying to get, sure i'll pay the 13 bucks (plus tax), but if you want to buy say, all 20-50 new figures that come out in a wave / year,,,,,that's a HUGE increase. Many are openly saying 'they're done'. They'll never pay 13 bucks for ONE star wars action figure. I said the same thing a few years back when they were simply impossible to find at retail. The Vintage collection was plagued by poor retail availability (understatement) due to the fact that they derailed the line with a huge glut of Episode 1 figures that nobody wanted. Those sat on pegs for 2-4 years without moving and prevented the line from ever seeing wide distribution. Where did i go when i quit Hasbro? I came to Lego. Granted, action figure collectors can be the type to quibble over the poorly sculpted WRIST of a figure and call it a monstrosity, and how could i EVER consider such a piece of garbage as part of my collection......Those guys might not like the limited realism, and limited articulation of lego figures.......But there's something........pure about lego star wars. The confines of the medium make it perfectly OK for scale and detail to be non-realistic. It's charming instead of 'film innacurate'. Anyway, i say all that to say, if the remaining Star Wars toy collecting fan boys don't like a 30% increase in cost for their collecting dollars,,,,,they might be headed our way. Welcome Nerds, we've been waiting for you. And we have 4 stormtroopers for 12.99. They're available on every shelf of every store you could possibly stumble into. Enjoy.1 point

Keep the thread below in mind when you decide to build it. I posted some useful information about strengthening the inner frame to prevent sagging. I don't have a preference with either color. You really can't go wrong either way. 10030 is in my top three Star Wars sets of all time. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/13988-question-on-imperial-star-destroyer-10030-old-gray-vs-new-gray/?page=11 point

Eh, I think people are being a little harsh on the new stuff. Really hard to tell until we see them in film. If this was the first time we were ever seeing the Millennium Falcon I'm sure some would say "ugh what's up with that flat pancake ship and why is the cockpit on the side?" I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt for now. All of the First Order figs look great IMO.1 point

This movie is buried in such mystery that there may be some amazing sets on the way AFTER the release. Abrams doesn't want Lego spoiling any secrets. That being said, my kids love these sets, especially Kylo Ren's and Captain Phasma's.1 point

If the sequel gets approved then I think we will see a modest spike in the price. Supply of this set is extremely deep on the secondary market so I do not see the price getting anywhere close to $100 this year. Amazon has disabled the buy box for this set so it it going to be slow going clearing the inventory. Yes people can click available from other sellers and then sort by Prime but the majority of shoppers will not buy on Amazon unless it is one click thru the buy box.1 point

Now that it's retired, the scarcity only increases from here. So it won't drop but the question will be, will it go up a lot or a little?1 point

I agree with you Alpine. I don't think it's discoloration as the color is very uniform. He has the old and new gray versions of 10030. It's really nice to be able to see the color difference. I have an old grey myself.1 point

built 40158 Pirates chess set today. I made a small mod since I did not like the "fix" LEGO used to correct their error about the wrong color orientation to the board. Their fix was to simply rotate the grid pieces by 90 degrees but I felt like that ruined the clean edge line the designer originally intented so I kept the original brick placements but swapped the colors myself. I have included a photo to help illustrate.1 point
