  1. After setting up my Kwik-E-Mart and Simpsons house for display I decided I wanted to do something to display the 2 series of Simpsons CMF alongside them. This kind of design could be used for any set of CMF really as the 16 figs display on each section in front of the poly bag. Here's some shots: The 2 sections are hinged together and can be separated to display on different angles like this: Each figure sits on a 1x2 plate, so they stay put nicely. Nothing too difficult in the build, I stuffed around with different ways for attaching the CMF bag backgrounds and in the end decided to simply have the 4 edges jammed between 1 stud depth bricks. It's pretty tight so holds them nicely without glue or tape. A fun little project. Took a lot more bricks than I thought and I pretty much ran out and had to scrape by with smaller bricks for the last bits of the wall.

  4. Hehe. I saw how someone on YouTube called you out on that. I just watched this for the third time last night with my boys. Wanted to show my 8 yr old an excellent stop motion video! Speaking of. For all you BPers that aren't subscribed to All New Bricks videos you are really missing out. They are great! Get on it! ufema I love the "draw" action that you do with weapons now.

  6. the panic seller-induced breakdown in the 7965 market over the last day (and coming days) has been pretty spectacular, exposing yet another facet of the brickpicker reseller hoard effect when lots of people decide to sell all at once - no matter the price. race to the bottom might have us testing 150- bin & auctions are ending/selling for 170-180. two days ago they were selling for 240-260. we don't even have a picture yet. just a name and a few numbers. glad i sold in may and went away. i might have to get back in and pick up a few if the get down to msrp. even 7965 will have a dead cat bounce.

  7. I sold all of my 7965's, doubled my money after fees. I'm happy with that, even if it goes up in price later on. I have very little storage room, and it's only getting smaller as my kids acquire more junk. My rule of thumb is to dump when I can double my cash. Of course, there are some special sets that I will hold onto longer, but 7965 isn't one of them. Unlike a lot of people, I do like the set. I think in terms of design, they did the best they could given piece and price constraints. If anything, it provides a nice base to start modding one, which I might do at some point. The new one comes in with a similar price and piece count, I don't see it being too different from 7965 from a design perspective.

  10. This is a "first world" problem if I've ever seen one. Some people just try to find a reason to be unhappy. I don't hang out with those people, but am in-laws with some of them.

  14. Previous Falcons that were similar in size to the 7965 were very average, if not below average performers after EOL. In the article I did for BLOCKS magazine, I took a look at all the previous Falcon versions and their returns and was not impressed. If you check out the chart below (data is several months old), you will see what I am talking about... MILLENNIUM FALCON LEGO SETS Set Number & Type Year Pieces MSRP $ Current $ ROI % 7190 (Regular Scale) 2000 683 99.99 303.00 203 4488 (Mini Scale) 2003 87 6.99 33.00 375 4504 (Regular Scale) 2004 985 99.99 211.00 111 10179 (UCS) 2007 5195 499.99 3359.00 571 7778 (Midi Scale) 2009 356 39.99 90.00 126 7965 (Regular Scale) 2011 1254 139.99 207.00 47 75030 (Microfighter) 2014 94 9.99 13.00 32 I think maybe the converstaion should be whether or not this set is a good investment at all, not whether you should sell it now or keep it for 10 years. The newest version might be the best investment choice besides the 10179, but until something comes close to the Big Daddy of LEGO sets, these smaller Falcons will always be the ugly ducklings of the STAR WARS sets in my opinion.

  15. I still have 15 of the Falcon 7965 and will be holding on to them, I see no reason why these will not increase in price, it could explode in Dec, but sooner or later they will, there will be millions of new Lego Star Wars investors and fans with the new movies coming out, so don't panic sell just hold on to them and they will do OK. 17. It's interesting watching everyone just dump their stuff over jitters and speculation. The market is obviously not as strictly controlled by supply and demand, but jitters of "inverstors" not willing to wait. Ahh this is like just about everything, it seems, whether it's real estate or stocks. Personally, I look at collectibles as something with long term strategy. There is no doubt in my mind that this set will increase back up to 250 or higher in the near future. It might just take holding it until 2017. With each set that is dumped, and then opened, that's one less pristine box out in the wild. As more sets are opened, the less sets there will be that are sealed and mint. Over time, those that hold the sets in pristine boxes will benefit. Just look at Indiana Jones/Harry Potter as a prime example of this. Mint and sealed sets from these two lines go for a premium compared to used sets. As time goes on, there are less mint boxes out there, so, this benefits the long termers willing to wait out the jitters. I personally, think holding sets long term is the way to go. Granted, if you stocked 20 or more of these and just made 100 on each set, then that isn't a bad strategy either. But the people that are now "dumping theirs RIGHT NOW" are going to be caught in a mosh for the next few months, but once that phase plays out, sets that are still unopened and mint in the box will still perform well in a few more years.

  19. I have been dropping hints for a two months about the new Falcon being a mid sized 7965 clone since I was told what the new price of the set was, so people need to pay attention to some of the subtlest things I mention at times. Even last week, before the partial list of new STAR WARS sets was released to confirm my source, I told everyone a new Falcon was coming and it was not a UCS set. Those who payed attention unloaded their 7965s, others, well, it's too late. Time to hold on long term.

  29. OK. I really doubt you want me to come back in 4 months and tell you how it went, you are clearly just trying to tell me I made the wrong choice. But I still like it better than the approach of racing to the bottom with all the morons.

  30. You might notice some little flags showing up in the profile area of your post. A lot of people liked this feature from the prior forum version and working on getting it back in again. It helps with discussion knowing that members may be international or local to you. It will be able to grab that info upon login or registration so the next time you login and the forum cache clears, you should start seeing the flag under your name.

  31. Despite of it all. I will hold firm at a selling price at or above $230 for this set. Got 11 left and im in no rush to sell. $230+ selling price for this set will be attainable again very soon.

  38. On your seller page click on settings in the upper right corner. Scroll down to the legal entity column. Click edit and fill out your tax info, it should walk you through it. If you sell over a certain amount they will send you a 1099 and send your tax info to the IRS. If your under a certain amount it will your responsibility to report it. The ebay threshold for tax forms is 20k in sales or 200 transactions. I'm not sure what amazons is but it may be the same.

  39. I've got 15 Rancor Pits and 11 Jabba Palace. I plan on selling as a pair, but I will have a few extra Rancor Pits that I will sell individually. I think the Pit will do just fine by itself because it is the only set to ever feature the Rancor maxifig. If you haven't seen or held that fig in person it is absolutely amazing. There will always be those people that for some reason or another acquired the Palace but never got the Pit, and now they want one. The combos are selling for a pretty penny already, but I don't plan on selling any of my Pits or Palaces for at least another two years because I think the ceiling on these is very high.

  44. Why not? Some of my best arguments have been with myself and it´s impossible to lose. With 14 of them you´d better hope the new film gives them a kick in the pants or you´ll be having godfather style mob meetings with 14 droids at the family table for years to come.

  47. Ideas is such a disappointment that I've completely tuned it out at this point. I get that many of these submissions are just not feasible but big sets and interesting licensed IPs are cool; birds and labyrinths not so much. The Exo Suit was probably the best Ideas set but I didn't even get that one since I'm not really into classic space or mechs. Most submissions can now basically be sorted into 3 categories: Small vignettes derivative of the Research Institute, niche licensed sets (sorry but Golden Girls and the Goonies are about as irrelevant as you can get), and completely infeasible monstrosities.
