  1. I am not sure what I am missing, but the set had an MSRP of $160. It's now been off SAH for apx 6 months. I am seeing an average sold price on Ebay apx 280-290ish. I am not saying those are earth shattering returns, but after 6 months and with so many people unloading them NOW... I am even more confident this will be a long term winner. I guess I am just not sure what some folks are expecting in terms of growth/speed. I think if you talk about a set's growth before it goes through at least one holiday shopping season, you're wasting your time and energy. Patience. This is also the worst time to sell of the year, so take current prices with a grain of salt. If one year from now this set is still selling for 280ish, I will A: Be shocked, and B: Be concerned. I just don't see it going down that way. All that being said, I think with the stark uptick in LEGO investors in just the last year or two, and the state of the economy as well as the increased products LEGO has released, people still have some unrealistic expectations of returns. Personally, I think this is a GOOD thing for long term investors, as I am hoping to see some of the latecomers give up quickly and also that it will discourage further new folks. I'd kind of compare it to Diagon Alley - A set that MSRPed for $150, and now about 2 years later is selling for about $320, with a peak during the holidays of $350 ish. I think Arkham will be similar, maybe with a top end of $400 ish after two years off the shelf. As far as I am concerned those are fantastic numbers, you'd still be doubling your money (or close to it) if you paid MSRP and got no promos/deals.

  2. more Red5s, DS and EV. if you aren't doing duplicates than yes TB and tumbler and a simpsons house. But Star Wars Fever is coming soon and it will be contagious and irresistible as is any good forbidden dance. Here's a preview.

  10. I think this set will do fine with patience, though I was questioning it last fall. The thing I remember about this set's initial explosive growth was that it went to sold out status around the holidays and Christmas--the time when people were looking or waiting to buy the set and it sold out everywhere--and it increased in price quicker than many sets that "retired" last fall, such as R2 and GE. IMO the initial rapid price increase might explain the relative stagnation in the last several months. I would expect the price of AA to begin increasing later this summer or fall.

  12. Going through some boxes in the back of my storage area I found a hidden 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers. I thought I was rid of these. Sold it for $72+ shipping. It should be the last one.

  14. I'm sure BrickLegacy is just noticing the same thing I have. I sold my first 10937 just after Christmas for $285 + shipping. I wasn't the lowest, but was pretty close to the low BIN price on ebay. Looking at my "plan" for moving inventory, I was thinking about selling another right about now (six months later), but when I look at ebay listings, if I wanted to sell today, I'd probably have to take less than I did six months ago. But I think you're right... it's just a soft summer market. I'll wait 'til this winter. Or maybe just price it the way I want, and wait for a buyer who recognizes that I am a superior seller, and worth a little more

  18. Made my own Kmart Minecraft deal. Had $12.04 in points in my account. Plus SYW offer $50 off of a $250 order…so... (4 x 21113 @ $19.96) + (3 x 21114 @ $23.99) + (3 x 21115 @ $34.99) = $256.78 $256.78 - $50.00 - $12.04 = $194.74 + tax = $207.89 $207.88 - $200 Sears giftcards (@ 15% off) = $7.89 So out of pocket was $170 (giftcards) + $7.89 = $177.89 Result (for me anyway): 4 of The Cave 21113 @ $12.98 each + tax 3 of The Farm 21114 @ $15.58 each + tax 3 of First Night 21115 @ $22.72 each + tax

  21. That's a nice set-up, a vast contrast to the first Myer I was at. I headed after lunch to another one and all their sets were loaded onto a pallet and it was only me and a guy feeling through the Simpons Minifigures there. Alright Mike, I'll may make a Slave purchase on your recommendation (one day), I do regret not picking up any R2D2 when they were available. Had a look on Bricking around and we're being referred to as "unscrupulous"

  22. I got em from Myer 9:00am bricks and mortar style fighting off kids and the like. All true apart from the kids bit. Slave 1 ftw! It's just too recently released for me. It's just not on my priority list atm. If I had a bigger budget, I would've grabbed a few. It looks big, and beautiful. I'll definitely buy one to build at some stage. Minifigs in it are awesome too. Feel the force Lucifer.... you can't lose at 20% off UCS. UCS is not normal SW. I'm sure you haven't lucked out on any of those. I know you are not a SW fan, but I gotta tell ya, SW fan boys go gaga over the S1.

  24. Didn't buy it but just checked out the pictures: My opinion: Don't waste money on the instructions. From what you can see on these pictures it should be possible to rebuild it. So just download the pictures he posted. If you don't know any parts I would just post the picture and tag the parts you don't know, I'm sure people will be willing to share their knowledge with you. Of course it will take you more time this way to build it, but it'll also be more rewarding. Also I bet you'll get about half of the bricks you need for the money you would otherwise spend on the instruction. From what I see: There shouldn't be any too expensive bricks included. Also I'm not sure about the colored bricks for the statue itself. I'd check out LEGO LEGO Shop at Home to see if they have this kind of green.

  25. I know the B-Wing (UCS and otherwise) receives a good amount of hate, but I built 75050 today and it was pretty fun. It's a weird ship, so the techniques were less repetitive than a TIE or X-wing. I won't be investing in it, but I'm glad to add it to the collection. The minifigs are top-notch, too. Grey Leader's helmet is very detailed. Investment: meh Build and uniqueness: A+

  26. Dont people read the ads?? A fool and his money are soon parted. I would love to know what does everyone think the value of a Bricklinked MF is, with all the usual subs? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271873570792

  28. If you run lots of HEPA air filters in your house/apartment, it will cut down on dust deposition on everything, including displayed Lego, by taking it out of the air before it can land. Higher shelves also gather less dust than lower ones. In general, keeping the dust from landing is much easier than trying to get rid of it afterwards. The other option is to regularly play with your Lego displays! Take that SSD out for a spin around the block in the rain and nature will dust it for you...

  39. I'm glad you like it. This is a very simple document, but for sure it helped me to understand lego's strategy about this theme. I simply used the bricklist's US availibilty for these sets, so it can be wrong. But overall I think it's ok (and the point is not to be super-accurate, it's just to give an idea of a bug's life a set's life). That's whey when someone says "nope, the next one to retire will not be the GE, I feel that it will be the PS (pet shop)", I'm surprised. But why not after all ! I'll update this file when the next modular will retire. It can be useful for newcoming members.
