I made my first ever Lego sale today. I got €10.91 for an Admiral Yularen shipped locally on ebay. Not amazing, but it's a start and after all it did cost me nothing

It´s not retired but there will be a remake in 2016 with more than 4000 pieces, a Disney Logo AND a helicopter to cover all demographics.

Tonight, while my fiancee was watching Pitch Perfect 2, I reassembled my 10210 Imperial Flagship (gorgeous) and finally built my 6256 Catamaran and 6278 Enchanted Island that I picked up last year. There is also a 6266 Cannon Cove that I picked up last week but the pirates are missing but the extra Imperial soldiers are better anyhow. My only complaint is that I will have to take these apart in the fall to make room for other builds (finding a home is a separate issue). I am positive that the Islanders land is to scale, compared to the pirate ships, because the Black Pearl and the Imperial Flagship are probably from the Marvel universe where they are needlessly loud and large.

In hand - can't wait to build, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. i am envious of anyone holding sealed boxes of Grand Carousel. Paired with the Mixer, Ferris Wheel and the upcoming Jokerland, the Grand Carousel would make one helluva amusement park...I have a feeling we'll see more appreciation for GC.

I literally check "sold" mixels every day as I keep track for when I'm ready to get rid of my mixels. Don't pay attention to the ones selling out of Indonesia either. Those are selling cheaper cause it's auction usually and people won't pay as much as obviously it's more of a risk getting them than just buying locally in the U.S, not to mention much longer shipping times. I write those sales off.

​I would trust the results of looking at recent "sold listings" rather than information from folks here that maybe haven't sold any complete sets recently.

Was at a local Lego store and they had it in stock so I decided to get it. No worthwhile promotions but it was calling my name.

Given that LOTR is over and SW is about to be born again and all leaked details and characters are signs point to not sucking, I'd rank that list Red 5, Red 5,Red5. Ok, not quite that extreme but I don't think you want to be caught under your goal on Red 5 and seems like the set that will pop the quickest and has been hardest to come by of late - at least round these parts. I've decided Red 5 is even a set worth getting banned over so I have 3 on back order at the moment. Don't underestimate the power of the force awakening in a crop of new 1%er SW kid fans and the synergy resulting with their nostalgic parents/grandparents to blow vast wads of cash on sold out or very hard to find UCS SW-themed LEGO sets. Would be nice to have a few bonus Red5s stashed just in case, we get a year with GDP of 4-5% and some wage inflation. Once Red 5 is really past the F5 stage of panic, and listed as SOLD OUT , & darrin gets done buying all the low hanging fruit, this set will be just like all the rest of the recent wave of retired UCS SW sets. . Of course you could go the contrarian route and corner the market on ToO and still have the same happy ending . Everyone wins with these sets. Just some will win more than others.

I have a common dilemma that I'm sure others here have faced: I have a huge, sealed Lego inventory and in moments of weakness, I get the urge to build a set. Staring for months at my rack of sealed Death Stars, Tumblers, and Sandcrawlers can break down the resistance of even the most hardened investor. Anyway, once you've made the foolish decision to build a kit, I think there's some things you can do to preserve as much value as possible for later resale. Here's a couple of thoughts and ideas: 1) Face it, you're going to lose some value. This is unavoidable. A sealed kit with unopened bags will always be worth more than a built kit, no matter what else you do. If at all possible, try to buy the same kit already used, or with an open box, or some other variant. Break the seals on your new kits as a last resort. That said, here's some further ideas... 2) Obvious things are keep the box in as good a shape as you can (I store my opened boxes right along with my sealed kits), as well as the instructions. If the kit includes stickers, bite the bullet and don't use them. Keep all stickers on the sheet. For things like UCS nameplates, you can use color xerox copies for display, keeping the stickers intact. And this goes without saying: don't lose any parts or minifigs, including the few bits of extra parts. 2a) When selecting a kit to build, if you have multiple in your collection, build the kit with the worst-shape box. Also, obvious, but I carefully evaluate all my copies, and pick the one with the most damage, perhaps a broken seal, maybe some crease marks or a bit of crush-age. 3) Not so obvious things. I carefully open each sealed bag with a pair of scissors (more on this, below), and I SAVE ALL THE BAGS. Once the novelty has worn off and I decide to break down the kit, I re-use the bags. Here's the tricky part: I also use the instructions to reverse-build the kit, and I carefully place the disassembled parts back into the original, numbered bags. The goal is the next builder opens each, numbered bag and all the right parts (including extras) are present. This may seem excessive, but it certainly can't hurt value, and I think it will help on resale. 3a) For those kits that have multiple bags for each, numbered step, I've often taken pics of the bag contents prior to build. I'll try to re-package parts back into the same bags, but this isn't strictly accurate, and probably overkill. 4) All those tiny parts that come as extras in each bag? When building, I put the extras back into the appropriate numbered bag, then store them with the box. That way, the extra bits will be in the right place when I disassemble. 5) Make sure on disassembly that your kit is as clean as possible. This can be tough if its gotten dusty. I use soft-bristle brushes first to clean, followed by compressed air if needed. As a last resort, I'll run parts in the sink with the sprayer and warm water, followed by towel-drying and the blowdryer to remove excess water. 6) If you cut open bags with scissors along the long, non-sealed edge (the part that's continuous and wraps around), I've found you get a beautiful, clean re-seal of the bag using clear packing tape. I wrap the tape around the cut, then use scissors to trim the tape even with the sealed edge of the bag, top and bottom. Harder to describe than show (and I could get a picture of this if anyone is interested). When done, the bags look fantastic. You're not going to fool anyone into thinking its a sealed set, but it will look like the best, built set you can sell. 7) Much of this effort is for naught if you don't take good pics of the kit, both built, and after disassembly. Put these pics in your auction, if you're selling on eBay. It works wonders, at least for the half-dozen sales I've done in this manner. 8] Maybe all this is overkill and I'm anal. You're probably right. None-the-less, the steps above won't hurt, and there's a bit of extra fun in disassembling kits carefully and getting them back to as close to as-recieved condition as you can. BTW, the few sales I've had of kits given this treatment have all gone slightly above the usual resale prices on eBay, and 2 of those kits went for almost (within 5%) of new, sealed prices. Thoughts? What do you do when the urge to build strikes? Figure 1. End result of foolish Lego investment decisions... edit: Thought a few pictures might help illustrate my suggestions. Here's a Volvo 42030 Loader I built, then disassembled. Note the sealed bags. This particular kit didn't have numbered bags, but you'll get the idea. It's very hard to tell this has been opened and resealed, as you can see. I find buyers really do respond to this care, and it doesn't take much effort.

Bought a lot of 22+ lbs of LEGO from the Goodwill website. Paid about 100.00. The initial pictures looked good as far as what I was getting (couple of shells of Star Wars vehicles 8098, 9495) and several figs (Wampa). When I got it, found well over 100 Star Wars figures and the shells to about a dozen sets. Not looking to sell, so I'm not worried about the price per pound or the fact that these are a lot of Clone Wars sets (although I think that with the figures...the price per pound was good) ,.....but I'll have a lot of fun playing detective and putting these sets together.

I've considered doing this as well, but haven't yet simply because I don't want to draw any attention locally to the good thing I have going. I'll put a few things on Craig's once in awhile, but Facebook has a lot more eyes looking at it. My city and surrounding area has a population close to 200,000 people, so the more I can stay off of the local radar the less competition I'll have in acquiring the seasonal clearance. Maybe closer to the holidays I'll put a few things up for sale on FB.

Picked up a few more sets this past week. Santa's Workshop (x2) - trying to reach my baseline target because "winter is coming"Red Five (x1) - way past my limit but they are easy to store and hard to find at retailEcto (x6) - beginning to accumulate these because I think it will disappear quickly and without warningTower Bridge (x2) - burned up some TRU rewards and gift cards. Also picked one up "free" with VIP points at shop at home (backordered)Star Wars Shadow Troopers (x3) - $6 each with surprise points at Kmart. Meant to buy Death Star Troopers but these caught my eye to use as gifts.

​ I've been seeing a few of these sell for $34-38 each with free shipping. one sold for $45 last month I think but wouldn't expect that regularly yet. I think the standard for set of S1 should be $125 now. no more messing around people. haha. people who are still undercutting other on S1 and S2 need to run out so prices can go back up. Sets of 3 by color is selling better than full sets.

​If these are for investment, my own opinion is to sell. I had quite a Mixels Series 1 thing going for awhile, and prices piqued at about $120-$125. It looks like they are going for $115 now. I don't expect much growth out of them at this point. ​I think you and I talked about this in PM. That's awesome! That's a great haul. You can do well selling those on eBay even now. I wouldn't wait - like I said, I don't expect them to go any higher.

​You could print out the order details and add that, but I wouldn't bother with a poly. Fine as it is. I'd normally do it for larger sets.

​Got a magic link like last time? There are a couple creator items on my to buy for myself list that might be time to pickup... The other adult in the house is gone for the long weekend, so I have to plan shopping trips to the toy store accordingly - i.e. without them.

​And from the sets' perspective, the minifigs stuck in there probably feel like it is more "The Cask of Amontillado". I am in awe of the care some of you put in building your sets AND preserving the bits and pieces but that is also why I separate completely what I build from what I keep. Having returned from my second Dark Ages, the sets I have are going to stay with me.

He's talking about the three currently known zombie characters in this to be released series you can see in the response below between the Zombie Cheerleader, Zombie Businessman, and Zombie Pirate Captain. Since each is a different sort of zombie, I think they all will do well personally.​ The cheerleader reminds me of Lollipop Chainsaw and the businessman is funny just because. ​ ​I don't understand that logic mostly because what exactly is there stating these characters are specifically wearing costumes and not actual monsters? On the same token the creatures from Monster Fighters could simply be people wearing some sort of getup and are not real monsters. I get these minifigures are designed for Halloween bringing forth the notion of costumes but nothing so far mentions they are just trick-or-treaters.

It is rare that any set brings the meaty beaty big _AND_ bouncy QFLL opportunity this set was for Holidays 2014. Expecting it to be that way again December 2015 is like thinking DC was going to be a hit last year. Still, long term this set because of the dirt cheap buy in is a gold nugget. Easy 3x MSRP by Xmas 2017. SantaWo is such an investing lay-up, its nearly impossible to get your hands on any decent quantity. Meanwhile the actually retired WVM lingers like the smell of putrefied fish seared on a stove top.

If I understood Jeff correctly, it was not just taken by brickpicker members but also by people visiting brickset, brickfan etc. As far as Biniou's comment is concerned: I don't think the survey really pretends to indicate how many AFOL's exist per country. It tells where the participants of the survey come from. No more, no less.
