  2. Finished a couple UCS sets this weekend, including the Tie Fighter. Looks great next to the others! Wonderful builds, all of them. Some innovative stuff in the TIE build, including the wing attachments. Have really enjoyed these.

  3. Took the family to NYC for Mother's Day, and we swung by the Lego Store while we were there. There was an ignored pile of clearance items off to one side. I was surprised to see (and grabbed) 2x 60064 Arctic Supply Planes for $13.48 each (reg $49.99). Also grabbed a bunch of "I Love NY" Lego Statue of Liberty magnets while I was there.

  6. I really wish they would open a processing center on the west coast. This time last year we were selling large quantities of big ticket items to Australia thru GSP prior to the USD flexing its muscles. Those sales only trickle in now. It was great while it lasted.

  10. I've traveled quite a bit lately, and I always like to stop in B&N and Lego shops. From what I've seen, the LTOP seems to be depleting in stock, while the White House is almost always filled to the brim in all the stores (meaning it's being restocked). I've also noticed this same trend at my 2 local B&N. It hasn't had the UN and LTOP restocked while the White House was restocked. The same thing happened with the UN architecture building, it eventually stopped being restocked and now it's becoming more scarce. It could be just the stores i've visited, but i'm thinking this is just a sign. The White house is everywhere, while the LTOP is not.

  12. He's at it again, had to report a UCS Star Destroyer this morning. Same idea as the person selling the Cafe Corner and Imperial Shuttle, different user name, but location the same and 1 feedback as a buyer, again from the same Chinese seller as the previous two times.

  20. I'm a Star Wars kid, turning 5 right after "Star Wars" came out in 1977. There's a few different ways to view it: - The order I saw it: 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 - George's grand plan: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 - The alternate cut: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 (which supposedly keeps the suspense surrounding Vader and what happens to him). I'm struggling with this right now - I've got a 7 year old daughter and a 3 year old son. We just attended Star Wars Celebration. The boy is all about SW, and the girl is just finally starting to take an interest. In a proud dad moment, despite having never seen anything other than SW: Rebels, my 3 year old grabbed Return of the Jedi this morning, and popped it into the player. He was memorized from minute one. My daughter (who was also trying to get ready for school) was pretty hooked pretty quickly. For him, I don't know that it will matter. I'm sure if I'm just show him the movies, he'll be happy to see them. He'll be grabbing his lightsaber and just playing away and watching. My daughter, though, since she has a sense of story and structure, I think I'm going to need to sit her down and watch it with her. I'm very tempted to go with the order of release. The biggest obstacle, if you want my opinion - these kids know these characters. They've already heard of them, and have a general sense of who they are. The kids have moved in and out of the story in so many different places in the time line (Clone Wars, Rebels, Lego movies), that they're probably fine no matter where you put them in the story.

  23. I would watch it the same way it was released in the theatres to us. 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, and 3. We also waited a while on 3 because I too don't just expose my kids to everything and that one was a wee bit darker then the others. Easier to have a villain then watch the movies about how a villain becomes one. IMHO

  25. It hit $175 December 2014. It will be at least $70-$100 this year. Another shortage may mean $150'ish. Probably too many low ballers holding them now that will be happy with $120.

I'm sure many have read this, but in the Vanity Fair interview JJ Abrams mentioned something about putting Jar Jar's skeleton in a scene on Jakku in Ep 7 just to get some enjoyment from those who disliked the character from the prequels. 33. Another Minecraft build and my shelf is starting to look like the overworld from the game. Haha. Anywho, I just assembled 21114 The Farm which pretty much is exactly that; a farm. Albeit not a very safe one considering the Skeleton being a sneaky snook under the birch tree which has a nice simple texture in my opinion. I kind of wish there were more birch trees in these sets but I get they are typically rare (depending on the area). Moving along to the rest of the build, the livestock of a cow and sheep are as they should be, the fencing with a gate looks and works just fine, and the actual land for crops is nice with my favorite detail being the usage of dark brown 2x2 round plates marking the tilled soil whereas the Crafting Box simply used some 2x2 jumper tiles instead. The latter makes moving the harvest pieces around easier but the plates are more appealing to me. Same as The Cave having one small incorrect detail; this one has its own with the absence of a hoe. (That honestly isn't meant to be an immature joke.) Steve is carrying his wooden shovel used to dig up the dirt blocks but afterwards to till the soil he needs a hoe. For sake of simplicity (and reality) the shovel is enough really. I guess considering when LEGO has managed to incorporate all the other items and ideas so well into these sets like the sweet crafting table, swords, pickaxes, shovels, axes, and armor, it can seem strange to not include the single essential tool with making a farm. The pumpkin is a cool bit that far as the planting part goes could also be considered not right and looking at the spot on the build where the plant has 'grown' does have a vacant block beside it making me wonder if the designers did try to implement the vine concept but could not do so successfully. In any case, I am glad just getting the pumpkin in the first place and maybe in some possible third wave of sets for the theme there could be a jack-o-lantern. (It would feature the same printing basically except with glowing eyes and mouth.) In the end, I think this makes a nice playset that reminds me a little of those early days with learning to build up a farm in the game itself and comes across as one you actually need at least two of to make a decent sized ranch between the crops and cattle. You would end up with yet another Steve of course which has been the only detriment with the Minecraft theme but that hardly is a deal breaker to get worked up over. I noticed a spot in the back of the manual displaying The Farm being connected to The First Night making for a complete scene. It is great to see how these separate sections can come together so well and should help the theme's overall collectability.

  35. I haven't been on here much due to a busy weekend, but I'll catch up on reading some of your posts. I'll own up to it here if my source is wrong. But, I mean, I don't even post here, so you won't see much of me around anyways. I'm not an investor, after all. I just wanted to share news with people that was posted on another format, and then someone posted it here and I heard it caused an uproar of sorts. I respect you guys, so I wanted to clear a few things up.

  39. Hey y'all, I'll just adress some concerns. I do not plan on investing on any Death Star sets. Here's the the thing- I do not resell, or invest on LEGO. I'm just a collector. I joined this site many years ago to use the main site's function. I know majority of you are investors, which is okay. I just started postin here as a friend told me I was being name dropped over here. The person who told me this info is someone close to LEGO. That's all I can say, and he's been right many times before. I have no gain from telling people this information as far as I can see. It's for you all to make up your minds- however, I'm not sure you should invest as the distance between when this old one retires and this new one comes out will most likely be very short, and the new one will be the 2008 one but better (as far as I heard). It's okay to be skeptical, but keep in mind my rumors just like this have been right many times before. If you want, I can link to those times. I'm on mobile right now, so it will be later in the day. I'll be honest- I'm iffy about this rumor he told me about the Death Star, or at least I was at first, but I remember how many times this man has been accurate and resourceful before. I personally have no connections with LEGO, I'm just an average guy who knows some people who do. Cheers, feel free to ask any questions.

  40. I don't really care if it retires in six months or 2 years, I've got the number I feel comfortable with. Whenever it does finally go and the F5 brigade all start freaking out I can sit back with some popcorn and a frosty beverage and enjoy the show. This isn't timing the market, this is waiting the market out. Point is, if you think this set is a good investment, and you have the scratch, why wait until it's hard to find before you get one or ten, or go all Ed on it? Or, go all hulk on it in this case.

  43. Apologies if my NOPE was offensive. This SW thread seems to just be very circular. Page after page of someone saying the set is retired, followed by someone saying that these holiday sets have a 2 year cycle, followed by noting that the other holiday sets came out of retirement in the UK, followed by the suggestion that it's a popular set why wouldn't lego bring it back for another year? It's like listening to my Grandfather tell a story. Anywho, sorry to be negative. It will be back for next Christmas, I'll unsubscribe from this thread. Good day to you sirs and ladies.

  44. Thanks for all the input guys. So my gut feeling was good... Potentially worth in a very long time haul but mid-term there are better ways to invest your money. Besides I found 5 GE for 172€ in the same shop, that's a far better investment imo. Let's see if EV gets a better than 10% off treatment this May the 4th, this one I am also terribly biased about (the other end of the bias ), I have a feeling it might do really well after EOL.

  47. Emerald House by cimddwc Indeed. I almost didn't post that set because of the messy bits but still I thought some of the overall ideas for aesthetics in the buildings were good albeit difficult to see past the obvious downfalls. At best there should be some decent inspiration to be had and maybe even a little nod towards what not to do.
