  2. According to this website - http://www.groovebricks.com/lego-creator-ferris-wheel-10247-first-image/ - this has 2,464 pieces and will retail for $200 (USD). It says it will have 10 minifigures,

  3. Your right R2 is awful. Please if you find any let me take them so you won't have to look down upon them in your inventory. You can hold those VW's in December while I am tripling or more my R2 investments because they are so ugly.

  4. While I understand why they do it, it's frustrating that a $20 Juniors set has printed pieces and $200 sets have stickers.

  5. You turned out to be ridiculously close. Figures in my search I missed one source showing the Crawler Crane at 1,401 pieces. Not bad, you were off only by 99 parts.

  6. I pulled out the Crafting Box (21116) to put together my very first Minecraft anything really. I wasn't sure what to expect other than what I can see from glancing across the box and the various reviews already out on the web that these include mainly the most basic blocks of LEGO with a couple of simple styled characters in gaming. The instructions came off a little confusing but eventually I understood the layout. The first manual has you build the characters and some small staples that become part of the scenery you later get to. Then there were eight different scenes you can put together and each is composed of separate sections that the second booklet tells you how to construct. While you cannot create everything at once, it was interesting how all the small areas came together to form the big picture. I didn't build any of the included 'designs' of the main manual (which were simply compilations of the smaller builds in the second one) but instead picked the areas I liked in general out of the second manual then placed them altogether to create my own scene. A couple sections were modified a bit due to using some parts in other areas or getting everything to fit. It's a little messy I suppose in a few spots but this diorama turned out rather nifty. There is a little house fort thingy on the left side with a chimney on top and a small waterfall garden next to one wall, in the middle is a small full tree and lake that flows outward, and then on the other side is some ruin/cave/tower with bits of lava seeping through the floor and around the structure out to some desert sand. Steve is ready to mine as usual, the Mooshroom grazes, and the Skeleton Archer, well, arching atop the tower of ruin. Overall that was really fun and I actually like the blocky nature in appearance the set goes for. The experience and included pieces remind me of how haphazard with carefree tendencies I used to be when building whatever I wanted as a kid. This set did give me more focus than say one of the old style brick buckets yet I still had such a degree of freedom. I must say that I think LEGO truly managed to capture the essential feel & look of the Minecraft video game very well with these minifigure scale sets. The method of placing bricks in spots beneath all the plates that make up 'the ground' seemed strange but now I understand why since in the game you can mine or tunnel underground to explore or create caverns this allows your scene to be multi-tiered in a number of ways. It's simply brilliant if you plan to go in that direction as it does allow for different levels otherwise it can be a waste of bricks that could be used better elsewhere on the ground itself if everything (the plates) is sitting flat. Anyway I am glad to have purchased this one first especially when Amazon had it for $10 off online so I price matched at Target just as they restocked and managed to keep a couple in before selling out once again. (I noticed that deal is gone now.) This set offers an amazing assortment of good parts with a handful being rare or just difficult to acquire in one spot. Even if you are not a fan of the game or theme, I would get the set for the versatile pieces. You could just sell off the few actual Minecraft elements and keep the rest which is quite good.

  7. I figured the largest and soon to be available by the summer (August) set of the new Elves theme deserved its own thread already especially now that we have an official image to go with the model on display at one of the last toy fair events. A large lovely abode home to the strong and wise gentle queen of the elves, Skyra, made from 808 pieces and shall retail for the royal price of ....huh, I couldn't find that because nobody focused on the dang price tag in any shot I looked through! I would guess either $80 or $90; probably the latter.

  8. Hi to all Dutch collectors, investors, nice deals on Intertoys webshop only this Sunday April 26th until midnight (all Lego included, limit 1 per customer). Happy hunting!

  9. Retailing for $39.99 on release around August later in the year is the skyward elf Aira's ride carried away by swift horsepower of two gracious Pegasi all made from 319 pieces. (Yes I full realize there really is not a plural to Pegasus same as Phoenix considering both stories only had one in existence but that is another of those debates with no end.)

  10. I wonder if this will be a $230 CAD or $250 CAD set. I'll be buying either way but 230 would be nice.

  11. Thanks for that exciter1. I just hope the technic gearing and motion is smooth so it can be operated as it is intended. The GC always felt a little disappointing in this regard, though made up for it in display appeal.

  12. I did not mean to start an argument, but SW did not become the biggest most influential Sci-Fi movie franchise of all time with just a few women taking notice. And famous landmark does not translate to cuteness appeal which translates to "Yeah I'll shell out hundreds of dollars to buy that so me and my favorite boy can enjoy together". But as Trek said, it is good we all have different opinions so we don't all stockpile the same sets.

  13. No poll just personal experience. I have seen young women who know little of Star wars other than basic familiarity just love that little droid. They could care less about the ultimate millennium falcon and slave 1, my favorites. Let me put it this way concerning R2, I have seen both my mom and 20's something women who could otherwise care less about lego just adore that droid. I'm talking multigenerational multi gender appeal.

  14. I think they work well together. Looks like same scale and build complexity to me.

  17. Agreed with posts above, and just an addendum - by far the most time-consuming aspect of the new parts sellers job is the picking of orders you receive. It is worth every penny and every moment of time you spend in organizing that down to the nth degree, to save yourself countless hours of hassle and searching for parts once you get an order. Remember, once you get an order, you're on the clock to get that order out the door as quickly as you can - customer service matters not just for your own satisfaction at doing the job well, but for your feedback and your repeat customer ratio. Everything else you do - sorting, filing, uploading parts - is "off" that customer service clock. It doesn't matter how long any of that takes you (as far as your customers are concerned), so efficiency at the after-order end is the place to start and the most important to maintain. *Edited to clarify - pulling orders is by far the most time-consuming aspect of the new parts seller's job - a used parts seller has a huge time sink at the sorting end, too.

  18. I for one will be purchasing all these and building them the day they come out, then I'm sure my daughters will steal them and I'll never see them again, but that's ok.

  19. My guess is that the set has least 1,500 pieces because it's motorized and all the different moving parts needed to make the model move.

  20. Is that the new fashion with seal codes? Is it because of us that lego has decided to change it so to screw us up...

  21. It will do fine with time. It hasn't even been out for 2 full years yet. Plus it's still available at TRU ebay and online for a little over retail. Once we're free of that we will start to see some gains.

  22. I was about to type exactly what terrymc typed except that I like the Ultra Agents sets, but I'm not sure about them for investment. I would probably pass and go with a SW too.

  23. Many people loaded up on joker steam rollers a couple months ago for $25 each through target clearance (I got 55 of them myself, and others purchased even more). That set will take awhile to see any truly solid gains, as it will probably be available for at least another year. Personally, I don't have an opinion on the ultra agents since it is a theme that doesn't interest me. If I was spending $75 today, I'd grab a Santa's Workshop. Yes, many people are stockpiling this set, and it will also probably be around for at least another winter season, but the creator winter themed sets are proven winners and this one should provide plenty of bang for your buck. If you are buying those two sets to build then it is a good deal.

  24. I only had 1 order cancelled. Gave them a negative feedback for it and got 10% off on my next purchase.

  25. LEGO merchandise repeatedly uses UCS models. The DS II and 10179 can be discovered on/in lots of official posters, games, animations, books, movies. Simply because they are the most spectacular builds. Nothing more should concluded by seeing these. They are just background pieces.

  26. Ha! I'm just the opposite. I really like all 9 of those! I thought they are some pretty great designs.

  27. When you've still got it on the shelf for $109.99, it's tough for it to move. Hmm...I got quite a few at Walmart for $30. I wonder if it's still worth it to part out.

  28. This will be a great flip this holiday season, just like Cinderella's Castle was last year.

  29. I've seen this asked time & time again. People ponder on sets that has over 1500 pieces & whether to buy at a decent price or not; Let alone a Star Wars Set. While I don't disagree with your thinking.... usually what this means that after retirement its a big winner. Any big Star Wars sets that has gobbs of minifigures & likely won't be reproduced again is bank! So to answer your question.... No I would not buy. I would buy a NIB with the best deal I could get! Perhaps on May the 4th.......

  30. Got a Tower of Orthanc and Palace Cinema today in the Lego Store. Man were they heavy to haul...

  31. Or, it can be that TLG realizes most of the people who buy more than 2 of the same modulars are resellers anyway.

  32. Weird how little focus this set seems to get here among Technic sets. I think this is the (Technic) set to put money on atm. It's not only the biggest set to date but also has a corresponding techical complexity to show for it. And if Technic EOL patte3rns have taught us anything, it will go by the end of this year. My prediction is, it will have less instant growth than the 9398 but more long term potential.

  33. Yeah, my wife occasionally takes out the 10179. Section here, section there. Luckily, I can repair it each time w/in 15-45 mins so far. I have the PDF version of the manual on all my apple devices because of my wife. Repairing the bottom of the stern is 'awesome' using the manual on the iPhone. D'oh.
