  8. I was suffering from cold sweat! No more full inbox on my email. Hence, no new emails for hours from anyone. Appears most of my friends are right here... on brickpicker.com! Compliments on the new update and like the looks of the new forum. Just have to get used to the new setup. Will take a while I guess.

  9. The TRU flyer for the week April 17-23 announces 40% off on select Lego sets (the image shows Chima 70145 and 70146), as well as 23% off the set 70813 Rescue Reinforcements (price was apparently raised by $10 over MSRP). If only CineplexHoliday was still among us...

  10. Hehe this reminds me of some of my acquaintances who always requested capacity from the university's supercomputer for their 'research project'. In reality they were rendering videos and doing commercial stuff that took time on normal machines. I wonder why nobody ever checked what the resources were used for. Supervision only became tighter last year when some students began to mine bitcoin...

  14. I am still a rookie at this game and so far I've been doing alright with just selling sealed sets. However, when I run some numbers on Bricklinks, it seems parting out some sets can be very lucrative. However, I have to factor in the time it takes to sort out the pieces and the amount of time I will be sitting on bricks and cost of storing these bricks. Does the opportunity cost out weights sitting on some exclusive sets/modulars? So I want to know how long were you in this investing game before you dive into selling parts? How well have you been doing? What tips you got for the newbies in picking the right sets and general advice? Thanks in advance!

  15. ^That's pretty much it in a nutshell. Except that I avoid cleaning by dealing in new.

  16. Here's the deal. I can get a discount on the following sets (I won't go into details) and am looking for one FOR A PERSONAL BUILD and would like suggestions, particularly if you have built one. I will still get any Lego promos, so May 4th promos are worth considering. Discount is based on my cost in Canadian dollars from US LEGO Shop at Home, after tax, compared to buying from Canada LEGO Shop at Home, after tax (including exchange rate). Fairground Mixer - 25% Detective's Office - 27% off Slave 1, Tie Fighter, Kwik-E-Mart - 20% off Tower Bridge (although I never bought one at 150US so why buy one now) - 32% off Sea Cow - 26% off Sandcrawler - 22% off Sydney Opera House - 24% off Or I could just buy a R5 or ToO at 30% off for investment but I want to build I have already built the other current exclusives so they aren't included (and I don't want to build the Helicarrier) and I am partial to Star Wars sets Thanks for any help!

  17. I'd say 1 or 2 at that price won't harm your bottom line if you are willing to hold it until 2016. I really think this set will do alright over the next few years. This one and the AT-AT from the summer 2014 wave is my target to buy at discounts.

  18. Comic books and super heroes in general just don't have the same cultural cache here in Europe as they do in the US, where they are a part of the American cultural landscape and have been for generations. Like valenciaric says, that's why you have more serious collectors of this kind of stuff in the US. Let's not forget, these are all American creations after all. There are no European super heroes. The super hero movies are popular here, the same as most Hollywood blockbusters will be popular. But the associated toys, comic books etc just don't have the same hardcore collector community as you'd find in the US.

  22. Yea, Speed Champs has the Ferrari team with truck, and the McLaren pit stop, which have the same tools as 60025. The f1 cars look better, but both sets are more expensive. Personally, I prefer the green/white/red Octan colour scheme.

  23. There's a lot of content on this site answering your question. My advice is simple: if you plan to part out, you need scale and time. It's going to take patience to get to critical mass where you sweet orders from MOCers at higher margins come to your shop. And in order to be that professional part-outer, you have to love the brick in all its aspects: love the sorting, cleaning, inventorising, assembling orders... More advice on getting started professionally: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ask+clutch Great tutorials & general vids. You'll see at the end (vid 136 or so, that even Clutch admits parting out used and new parts isn't really viable. Lessons from the master)

  24. I picked up this one today from Kmart. City isn't my forte, so I had to just do an ebay search to see how much she's trending for. 35 seemed reasonable despite the scuff on the side of the box. You don't really see this one in stores anymore.

  31. Gmail collapses email with the same subject title. So if the email feeds/notifications don't have user ID in the subject line (instead of *** replies to ####, probably simply as what we had before 'New replies to ####), then it'll be easier to manage the inbox in case one still wants email notification but in a more intact way.
