  1. My big CMF order came today, all sealed cases and only a few opened outer factory boxes. 660 series 4 and 1080 series 5 for a total of 1740 minifigs!!

  2. No. Perhaps the Snake Minifig may go for $25 to help of set the cost. Oh, and we call them customers.

  3. It's funny how people forget that the Ewoks were 2 seconds away from ripping Han Solo's flesh from his face once it got nice and crispy on that fire spit. MMM, tastes like chicken. Cute and furry, my arse. I don't think it's a male / female thing. Its a question of age. The show How I Met Your Mother makes this case via "The Ewok Line". Personally i think the theory needs to be updated to curve back down as perhaps the current generation are not fans of the little cannibals.

  7. Ewoks blow. The original was fantastic, and it appealed to me, a 12-year old kid just fine without cutesy characters. I tolerated Yoda as the rest of ESB was fantastic and dark. Lucas ruined his own series with all the kid-crap. He claims it appeals to kids, but all the crypto-Floridian bunk in prequels certainly went over most kids heads. EV will no doubt make money. But it's no SSD or MF. Of the current sets, I think in the long run Slave 1, Sandcrawler, and DS are the current stars. Sand crawler isn't selling nearly as well as other sets at this stage of life, I think that's the sleeper here. IMHO.

  11. Lego Stock Tracker for Target worked perfectly this time for me. 5 Dolphin Cruisers at 37.98, 6 Sunshine Ranch at 34.98, 5 Ariel's Magic Kiss medium sized set at 14.98, all at 50% off. Good trip!

  12. 1. You can have all the blaster rifles you want, if you can't hit the broadside of a sailbarge it doesn't matter. 2. A native force of jungle partisan guerillas, dedicated to their cause, protecting their home with a bunch of small arms and homemade booby traps could never defeat a technologically superior, much richer, better trained industrialized imperial foe. Just ask the North Vietnamese

  15. I agree! Empire is my favorite. My favorite toy as a kid was a snow speeder. The poor family cat got sick of me trying to wrap the harpoon around its legs*. * no animals were harmed in these events.

  16. My favorite is the Hoth Ice Planet scenes and equipment. I guess that is why I like Lego Arctic so much LOL. Can't wait for the UCS Hoth Base this Christmas.

  17. Just wait for your first year to be up and you will be emailed the secret password to all your answers in condensed form. There's nothing to read. All you have to do is go down the list to see which sets to buy and when. It seems harsh, l know, but a lot of people put a lot of time into these forums and don't feel it's fair for people to just join the forum on day one and know everything.

  18. I'm not Trek, but aside from exclusives I would start to look at some of the summer 2014 wave that is coming up on 1-year. The obvious winners are the ISD and AT-AT, though they could last another 12-20 months before they're done. I think the Cantina is a great set and could be helped by an earlier than 2 year retirement. My sleeper picks are the Grievous Wheel Bike and Coruscant Police Gunship, though the latter is a TRU exclusive and we all know how that could play out (prolonged shelf life and deep discounts for extended periods). If I had money to invest solely in Star Wars right now, I would go with the exclusives though. Red 5 and Ewok Village are prime candidates for retirement this year. There was a slew of regular sets effectively retired in late 2014 and I'm not sure if any more will be on the chopping block until much later in the year.

  24. The careful filing of topics into a relatively few number of threads is actually an enormous positive on this site. You don't have to wade through pages of different threads to find relevant topics on the set of interest, you just go to one place. Also, the length of this thread and the age is actually another huge clue if you care to think about it. And if you're observant, there's even more to be learned from that "old and irrelevant" info that you think no longer applies. Quite the contrary, that's some golden info that will tell you quite a bit about the future of not just 10188, but a number of other sets as well. If this was easy and obvious, many more folks would do it. It takes time and patience to learn the basics on both ends: the best way to acquire sets (and which ones), as well as the best way to sell sets (and when). We were all novices once, and we're all still learning. The suggestions you make are counterproductive and would harm the way many of us use this site. I appreciate your suggestions, nothing wrong with those. Understand that the reason things are done such as grouping comments into single threads by set is the result of many expert investors input, some serious wisdom on this site, and the result of many mistakes made by others before you. You're benefitting from all that. You'll come to see why things are done the way they are here, and hopefully recognize the value they'll ultimately represent to your investments.

  25. I would like to start a topic on this set for a whole lot of reasons but mainly these. Number one, Ninjago and dragons go like bread & butter meaning this one with its integrated glow-in-the-dark parts just makes a cool build that more awesome. Number two, check out the duds on our hero ninja all dark like the swift shadow with only a hint of color to tell them apart making our friends a bit closer to the ninja we are accustomed to. Number three, the villains are the undead ghouls from a netherverse on the other side of some dimension for lost souls. I guess our fellow ninja are now Ghostbusters. Ha. Number four, ....oh wait I don't have a fourth. Nevermind. Anyway it will retail for $69.99 and include six minifigures.

  26. For what it's worth, and I've stated I view lego as 98% investment. I say this cause I own 2 lego sets. I do not build them. To bank on that statement I hate star wars. I don't get it at all. I've seen every movie twice. As a kid and as an adult. Why do you all care or does this matter, from some one who has no interest in star wars the set that stands out to me the most is ewok village. It's just cool. Simple as that. I don't see a new ewok village coming out. They Will continue to make rehashes of insert any and all spaceship here. Ewok village is unique, appeals to those who don't care about star wars and is an exclusive. O yeah, one other thing the death star is retiring like now. What I don't understand is anyone on here saying a star wars exclusive won't do well. Has their ever been a star wars exclusive set that did not go up in value to a profitable level after fees and shipping. The answer is no. That is why I'm also always confused by these conversations. You could buy any star wars exclusive right now and you will make money on it. Anyone who says otherwise either hasn't or dosnt pay attention or has never sold a lego set in their lives. 27. I can't get my brain to accept that little furry stone age guys beat down the emperor's elite stormtrooper battalion. In, um, 'reality' the battle of Endor would have gone down more like the conquistadors versus the Aztecs. Slingshots and spears just don't beat blaster rifles and AT-ST's. On the other hand, EV looks really nice. It's on my list as 'buy around 10, starting after 10240 disappears from LEGO Shop at Home'. I think Sandcrawler is a much better bet long term. The last one nearly tripled before being undercut by sandcrawler 2.0. Jawas were around $40 each on eBay at one point.

  29. The next couple buildable figures have been revealed. Grievous looks pretty good and fits in very well with this series. Not so sure about the human characters though. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2015/04/15/heres-your-first-look-at-lego-star-wars-buildable-figures-of-obi-wan-kenobi-and-general-grievous/

  30. I don't disagree with some's take that the Sandcrawler is a good investment. I built that recently, and it's an absolute gem of a set.. This is definitely an investment worthy set. But, it still gets knocked around by so many here because "it's a kids set, and not a true UCS set", even if the overall build showcases it as a somewhat complex technic set. I dont see why the SW universe can't be broad enough to appeal to both the kids that want bigger sets to display (and or) play with (Ewok Village and Death Star meet this, and i'm sure the UCS Hoth Rebel Base will too), and UCS ship and vehicles that get built, don't have much playability and sit on a stand to collect dust but look pretty cool. I think there is investment potential in both sides. Personally, I prefer building and investing in the bigger play/display sets over the 50 to 60.00 set that most of the time feel incomplete (cantina, palpatines arrest, hoth echo base, and the upcoming Jedi Duel fit this criteria). The ewok village is what I consider a complete set and definitely one of the coolest sets made in the lego star wars universe. That set feels complete. If they continue to expand these large scale exclusives with "hoth rebel bases", "sith tombs", and a larger scale 3000 piece cantina set then they will have more winners on their hands.

  32. Look at the number of minifigs in EV, nuff said.

  33. I don't think the appeal of the EV lies in the Ewoks themselves, but rather that it is a reasonably faithful and complete re-creation of a scene from the original trilogy. That alone will power that set, IMO.

  34. Here's the Canadian deal of the day hands down. I Received an email notification from ToysRus.ca that R2D2 (10225) was in stock though the e-mail link they sent me. Tried to order 8 but they only had 6 available, so my 6 are processing. Plus these were at 20% off ($184 each). I checked the website and it was never put back up there. Crazy but awesome! Cha ching!

  44. Finished the main build tonight, just have bag 12 which is the stand / minifig. Will try to do that in the morning at the warehouse tomorrow. Looks really good when finished, very sturdy as well. Build time was somewhere in between 4-5 hours , kind of lost track. Now I'm ready for the next UCS SW...

  47. Having analyzed those LEGO Webshop EU graphs a bit for info on exclusive sets, one could draw some conclusions like the following 10 fun/trivia facts (without liability) - if the data found there is more or less correct: 1.) "Is this good or bad?" The worst selling exclusive sets in the shown timeframe of March 2015 were: - Benny's Spaceship - Sydney Opera House - Architecture Studio - Ewok Village - Fairground Mixer - Metal Beard's Sea Cow - The Tower of Orthanc So, not too much love especially for the LEGO Movie sets with Benny's Ship seemingly being THE worst selling exclusive overall in March. Now the big question is: What is better - Investing in slow sellers, so there is less competition (but also less demand) post-EOL; or investing in the big sellers, having to deal with masses of other resellers (while having more potential buyers)? 2.) "...if only this was less expensive" While Sydney Opera House, Ewok Village and The Tower of Orthanc didn't sell too well, they all made remarkable sale jumps in double VIP time, from which one could conclude that people merely regard them too expensive instead of generally unattractive (while the sales of the two above-mentioned Movie sets did not profit from double VIP...) 3.) Red 5...4...3...2...1 The EOL run for Red 5 seems to be in full swing because sales pre-2xVIP and during 2xVIP were somewhat identical and surprisingly high (for the set itself and also in relation to other SW sets) 4.) Too much, too late The Exo Suit is selling pretty good, but LEGO has amassed way too much stock for a set that should have been retired one month ago - maybe they ordered that massive stock some time ago already and were not able to cancel it while realizing too late that demand was not keeping its high level (like at the introduction of the set) and so they would get way too many sets in the end. 5.) The "No-restockers" While most sets got restocked 1-4 times during the period, there were 5-6 exclusives that got no restock at all - all of which are sets that were already stocked in high numbers. If this is a hint for possible EOL, I don't know. Why there are some sets stocked in very high numbers and others in rather small numbers - I also don't know. It might be a question of production capacity or/and LEGO's EOL plan. 6.) Old vs. New Death Star and Sandcrawler sales seem to be OK to good and pretty much on par - potentially leading to two quite different views on the sets (Death Star being 6 years older...) 7.) London calling It seems like 3+ Tower Bridges are sold for every 1 Sydney Opera House. 8.) Duel of the necomers Slave 1 seems to have slightly outperformed the Detective's Office during 2x VIP looking at "sets sold per day (when in stock)". 9.) Investors' Nightmare One of the worst selling non-exclusive sets is B-Wing with about 1 ("one") sold set per day in March... 10.) PC or PR Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant look to be selling equally well, having quite similar stock numbers (during March) and having gotten 3 restocks both (in March).
