Let's back up a bit. Your wife is willing to make sandwiches for you and it ended up on the complaint thread ???7 points

It seems apparent the sun is setting on this line. Lonely Mountain, by all accounts, was a very poor seller. It's a big price tag for "just a dragon" in a lot of people's minds. Until the horde catches the scent, the currently large stockpile of these will last, then all at once the secondary market is going to blast off into space. I believe.3 points

Turn the sandwich upside down. You can thank me later. ...or are you saying the jelly is in the middle and the peanut butter is on the outside, so you get peanut butter all over your hands when you eat it?3 points

I'm supposed to believe that Lego is going to take a set in the last year of its life and repackage it, but leave the similar-sized and younger PC still in production in the big ol' box, because why exactly? This is more silliness. Toos status I trust as an indicator of retirement, whether in EU or stateside. But a sudden, inexplicable urge to repackage the PS? Give me a break.2 points

Agreed, this is absolutely ridiculous. Either you are part of this family or not. Don't try and live in both houses because eventually one of them won't let you back in. Brickpicker is much better community as well. We aren't trying to buy up every single deal on anything that ever was sold in a store. We are only here for LEGO. Let them have their crap and we will enjoy our LEGO.2 points

Forgive me if this is repeat fo any earlier posts (haven't read the history in this thread)... I was just thinking... could the Simpson House be around for a long, long time? I mean, we talk about "2-year runs" for big exclusives, maybe this one will stay longer because Kwik-E-Mart will give it a boost (and vice versa)... but now I think... what about the next in the series? ... and the next? Say it's 2017... the Kwik-E-Mart is still out... maybe a Krusty Burger or Springfield Elementary (or whatever) "coming soon" ... as a new AFOL walking in my Lego store, I'm not sure I would be interested in starting a Simpsons collection if they had retired the Simpson's House a year prior. Won't they sort of have to keep the Simpson's House around to support the rest of the line... "for life"? Just look at the modulars. Any new buyer could start his modular collection today, and buy a Palace Cinema, a Parisian Restaurant, and a Detective's Office, and be proud of his collection... and add new sets as they come out. So he missed out on the Town Hall, Fire Brigade, etc... They would have been nice, but aren't critical. He can just move forward with his anonymous little city starting right here and now. How could someone start a Simpsons collection and not be able to buy a Simpsons House from the Lego Store? It seems it would be incomplete from the start.2 points

Broke down and ordered a pair of simps houses from target. I think it will be back but want a couple just in case. I had a coupon for target I was saving so it worked out good.1 point

I talked with Lego today, it appears the designer never played chess, and a few pieces were in the wrong location in the instructions. They need to reprint the directions so the are not teaching children/AFOL's how to play chess incorrectly...1 point

How do people not understand the repercussions of posting some of our deals on SD such as CT & 10695 so Walmart has to raise the prices? I assume that the poster must not have the funds to purchase so they post on the there so the rest of us can't enjoy it any longer. READ: CT went from $30. to $35. to $40. to $45. to $49. Now 10695 went from $20. to $30...Complaint over, next time I'll purchase everything I want on day one. Carry on...1 point

You add it after the order has been placed, most sellers have a basic break down by weight/shipping method on the splash page that gives buyers a general estimate of what shipping will be.1 point

Lego reps have it in their system the retirement date for PS is end of 2016 and PC end of 2017. Whether it remains that way or not I don't know but that is what corp is feeding them at the moment - no modulars to retire in 2015. This does make sense as 2 were retired in 2014 and it does line up with the current buying limits on LEGO Shop at Home USA. As always TLG can change their minds about production at a few stages throughout the year. A new box size for PS will certainly add to the plausibility it is going to hang around through 2016. I hope it is true as I wan't to see if box size/version will play any role at all in aftermarket pricing and demand. Should be interesting.1 point

I put together from Mixels Series 2 the Frosticons followed by the Fang Gang. First off I like blue and curvy parts so the cold crew was already a joy to begin with. Plus after the first series I liked how the characters strayed from the previous norms I noticed (short, tall, medium). Immediately I like how Slumbo went together, he stands very firm of a character, and it was my first chance seeing those minifigure head eyes which are pretty neat I think. My other favorite of this group would be the goofy beer belly dragon named Lunk who kind of looks drunk and those blue ninja blades hanging from his nose I guess is ....frozen booger snot. Ha. The little guy with wings, Lurr, is uniquely cute. After building those fairly quickly, I went onto the Fang Gang which are both cool and a little creepy to be honest. With all those teeth they're like the stuff of nightmares. Anyway my personal favorite far as character goes continues to be Chumly for the goofball name and that hilarious face! Haha. Now as to build experience I think Gobba was great and he looks the same way too. He can be a bit disturbing with the mouth closed having rows of teeth like a shark and his very form reminds me of the fun b-movies "Critters" if anyone remembers those. Jawg, well, looks like a dog....a really weird dog with spiky chompers that could scare a kid with that rather huge jaw wide open. Yeesh. Overall I really enjoyed building those two tribes between character design, assortment of parts, and techniques incorporated. I think I liked the Fang Gang a tad better on one hand for the way each was built and how they look but then again the shaping for the Frosticons well as color choice hit high on the mark for me too. Well I just have the Flexers left to complete Series 2. They definitely look like the odd bunch ....from an already odd bunch.1 point

Believe it or not, my oldest kid used to insist that the PB was on the bottom and if I accidentally did it the other way (and he saw it) I had to trick him into believing I had made another sandwich because turning it around wasn't good enough.1 point

Thanks once again. At least that's two down and I think The Brick Show had a time lapse build for Rocket Raccoon's Warbird. Ah here it is.1 point

The little ones will have a blast. The park is really geared for 12 & under. There will be lots to keep your 2 year old busy - there is much more interactive play opportunity than Disney. Food in the park is expensive, but not outrageous - and pretty good quality. Don't waste time on sky cruiser or lost kingdom, otherwise all the rides that are age/height appropriate will be fun. If you have time and budget, you can do the sea life aquarium in about 60-90 minutes. Enjoy!1 point

I recreate these in LDraw when possible since the official PDFs aren't released by Lego. I've done some from Flickr archives and others from freeze-framing a review build video that someone made. FYI, hot linking our PDFs is restricted due to some DDoS morons, but you can browse www.constructibles.net --> Comic Con, and the instructions link is available on each product page.1 point

I was waiting for that remark. Ha. Ah, looks like I'll have yet another project on my hands. That reminds me, are there instructions for the older microbuilds of JEK-14's Starfighter, Bag End, or Rocket's Warbird? Let me guess, I just gave myself more work didn't I? Dang it.1 point

What also makes these sets hard to get at Celebration (I'm not sure how it compares to other cons) is the dealers are not asked to leave the collector lines. Within the first 50 people in line, there will be 40 dealers/resellers that have booths at the con. The resellers themselves won't necessarily be in line (cough, Brian's Toys, cough), but they'll bring 4-5 minimum wage cronies with them and have them branch out with their badges and pick-up 6-10 from each vendor per day. It's hard to stomach for the collector's to see the con exclusives showing up in the dealer booths already marked up 300%. I'm not sure how certain dealers did it back at CIII, but they were buying the Hasbro talking Vader's from fans for $30-$40 each and reselling for $75 or so. They had a glutton of stock leftover and the bottom fell out of it less than a month later. I remember we all got our first Force FX Lightsaber's this way. Trade 3 in and you had a Force FX Lightsaber for $45.1 point

This looks like an awesome set. I loved the Classic Batman and Bag End sets from last year. Very similar boxes. Highly collectible long term, but the growth is very slow after the initial seller makes a profit. For most of us, these sets are for true collectors that are willing to pay top dollar for a slow appreciating product.1 point

I really miss sets that came with baseplates like Skull Island... The new pirates sets would have been a lot better if they came with basic blue baseplates of any size to help simulate the water more. I get that it's to keep costs down, and it likely does not fit with LEGO's new "model" or whatever, but still. Miss me some good ole baseplates1 point

Time to get eBay involved: http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/item-not-received.html Fair is fair. We should not fault sellers who follow rules, but the ones who do not need to be weeded out too.1 point

This is an excellent thread. Way too many people concentrate on buying and don't ever try out selling before they are just too deep. I am one of these people and I have long since learned my lesson (I think). For the first year and a half all I did was buy. I bought up over 1000 sets during this time. I would say that I was addicted (still am). The point came where because of money and space it was time to offload some of my sets. In order to buy more I would need to start selling first. So in January of this year I started selling. This was an eye opener. I know everyone says that it takes time to list, sell, package, ship, etc but you really don't understand until you do it yourself. It is very time consuming. You also have to expect there will be problems. Lost packages, buyer returns, etc. This all eats in to your profits and time. I know a lot of people say large sets are the way to go and I agree to a point. Just know that those sharks on eBay/Amazon looking for sets to scam people on aren't looking for small inexpensive sets. I've got burned a few times already and it is always on large sets. A mint condition Imperial Shuttle returned banged up and opened, a Robie House returned destroyed after FedEx left the package in the rain, a AS returned because the buyer "bought it for someone who didn't like LEGO", a Robie House and AS on the way back now for a mystery reason, 0 feedback buyers everywhere, etc. Some of these can be avoided with experience and others are just part of the selling process you have to deal with. And here comes the big one everyone is warned about over and over but never really understands until they sell.... FEES. The fees are much more of an impact on your bottom line than you may think. Make sure you find a good fee calculator online and just play with it a little and enter some values in for sets you have. See what you must sell at to get a certain return on your investment. This is easy and takes just a couple minutes but it will be an eye opener for some who haven't even thought about the selling side of this yet. Make sure you add in estimated shipping costs and add a little for supplies. I know most people don't think about tape, boxes, paper, ink, etc but it adds up very quickly when you start selling at a higher volume. As an example I have spent $40 this year just on packing tape itself. I made the mistake as I am sure a lot of others do of thinking if rough times come or I need the money to reinvest I will just sell a bunch of sets and be fine. The truth is it takes a lot of time for things to sell. Like others have posted its not like selling stock. It will take months before you can sell a large inventory of sets. If you need your money fast you will be basically giving your sets away to sell them fast. Many times I have been the lowest price and still had to wait weeks for the item to sell. To sum this all up I am still learning but I feel much more confident that I have gone through the selling process and know what is involved. It will actually change your investing and buying decisions. It has drastically changed mine and now I am making more money and spending less time because of it. Since I started selling in January I have sold almost 600 sets totaling just over $37,000. This has allowed me to grow my investment to over 2100 sets and make much better investment decisions. If anyone wants the exact numbers on profits, fees, etc on those 600 sales you can PM me. Buying is only half of the investment process. Make sure you try the other half before you get in too deep.1 point
