  1. well i got the half of it guys, there we "no photo" signs posted behind her. I respected those orders and did not take a photo. but here it is! this was fantastic and everyone loved the set when i pulled it outta the box waiting in line. I will keep the fan expo itinerary and my exhibitor pass with this set, at least it something to authenticate it.

  3. No need for what ifs.......let us know what the seller says. Just politely explain the situation and ask him how to proceed in order the fix the mistake. You seem already convinced that the seller is not going to cooperate.

  6. I understand the nostalgia behind Grand Carousel with its classically artistic vintage appearance but it isn't something you would find in a modern real life amusement park or at least not one that travels. The Fairground Mixer on the other hand is rather spot on in its realism with the main attraction capturing the look and mechanics of a basic twist/scrambler ride. Like it or not, that is how it should be and I would imagine the Ferris Wheel shall be the same. Besides it is a Ferris Wheel, the most basic amusement known to man. Shoot, an enterprise would be more fun and interesting. Course I guess you don't have a Ferris Wheel for fun, you have it for looks and people with queasy stomachs. Haha.

  7. So sick of these eBay sellers selling Lego knockoffs under category Lego. I've spent several hours every week for the last couple of weeks reporting these losers.

  8. I feel ya man. I do when I see them too. I could care less they sell them anymore but not in lego category.

  11. After much anticipation, I opened my first Mixels finally. I tried to see if I could build the entire Series 1 but got tired after the Infernites and Cragsters. Anywho, I love these little goofball critters! Haha. I must say the design on each of these is quite smart like Flain and rather expressive especially Zorch. I think my favorite from each tribe built thus far would be Zorch of the Infernites and Shuff from the Cragsters. I like how poseable Zorch is and the handlebar for eyebrows is cute where either he is goofy mad or turn it around to give a 'sad panda' face. Shuff is silly to say the least and a well-rounded design. I'm hoping to build the rest including Series 2 & 3 to place together on my shelf. Afterwards I want to tackle the Mixel Mech concept really bad. I'm just not sure how to go either with a big fully loaded robot or exo suit featuring a cockpit for a minifigure deal. I might need to research Flickr for this again.

  12. I just constructed the last of Mixels Series 1 with the Electroids. Other than a pattern for some of the little hinged arms, I can also see a repeating cycle of character design as in there being a short Mixel, a tall one, and then an 'inbetweener' (middle height). Not a complaint; only an observation. Anywho, I'm not sure who to pick as my favorite this time around. I like Teslo already for namesake being named after a certain inventor just altered slightly, I have not seen that hose part in a long while which was great and having it 'hang' behind him as a tail makes him like some robotic version of Pikachu, and his overall form is nice. Now Zaptor is interesting but may appear a little too much on the 'mentally challenged' side. Ha. Finally Volectro is awesome and better in person honestly. That exclusive yellow bush is both cool and funny, his arms and fingers are very poseable, and the build was a fun one altogether really. It feels like a tie between Volectro and Teslo leaning a tad towards Volectro ....maybe. I don't know. Both were neato in my opinion. On a side note about the three tiny Nixels, those are not bad at all especially with everyone together. Only disadvantage is the ratio with three Nixels and nine Mixels. ....What could the Mixels ever have to fear from these little gremlins? I mean any one Mixel is larger than any Nixel. I guess in greater numbers like piranha they could be fierce. Well anyway, the whole gang of Series 1 looks great and now onwards to Series 2!

  14. The recent euro sales data don't really tell us anything for Benny's Spaceship because it's non exclusive, people don't need to buy it from LEGO Shop at Home when it's going to be cheaper in stores. I think the important thing for this one is that as a kid of the 80's it's what I would have made or played with and it's looks pretty cool and when future AFOL's come out of their Dark Ages they may think that too, so it could be a slow burner.

  18. I would love to see a grand carousel type piece--and I would love to see this set create some synergy with the mixer. Who doesn't want their own fair/amusement park? Maybe even add a sideshow of all those budget Chima minifigs we've been snagging at deep discount.

  22. With Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit now defunct, it would be pretty cool to see Lego release a Dungeons & Dragons theme. It'll never happen though. I think Lego designers could have a lot of fun with designing fantasy based sets without the restrictions of the LotR and Hobbit locales. It would be cool to see something like the Fortress of Fangs in Lego form (a play set that still resides in my mom's basement): Maybe a one-off Lego Ideas set? If I MOC it will they come?

  24. Here's my other one: about a week ago I had some SYW offer of $13 in points for $50 purchase. They had the Hulk Buster at $30, I had a few other surprise points ... anyway, I got 2 Hulk Busters for $27 each. Looking at sales on ebay, I figured I could flip them for at least break even, and get the $13 in points "for free". It's not my usual "thing", but had some time on my hands and thought I would give it a try. I felt pretty smart until I found out (on the same day) Target was selling them at $24 each. Oh well... the flip was "on". Put them on ebay for about $40 shipped, and they sold within a couple days... I decided, what the heck... lets buy 2 from Target at $24. Just sold both of those for $40. The sweet thing is they fit so nicely in a (free) USPS Regional Rate Box "A". They need absolutely no dunnage. In less than a week I sold all four with minimal effort, and netted a total of about $15 cash + $13 SYW points.

  32. Wow I have missed out on this thread. It is amazing we have a total male meltdown over a total female set. LOL Reminds me of this famous quote from Jurassic Park. And there is a female Dinosaur set in here to boot. What is not to like about the RI? Buy it up. Dinosaurs eat man

  34. TMNT Baxter's Robot, $40 cash just to get rid of it...bought for $28. Only have Baxter's and Shellraiser Chase but hardly any interest I find. Thank goodness I didn't stock up. At least with these two sets, you get all 4 turtles so that's why I bought them on sale. Baxter's Robot does look pretty cool...get into a mech fight with Lex Amour and Exo Suit. Only neat items I find in the Shellraiser Chase set are the big wheels and Dogpound minifig.

  42. There is no right or wrong answer and all investing is a gamble as to what the future will hold, you use your knowledge, experience and information you have access to to change the odds more in your favor. Typically once a set is retired it will have a spike in price, then will slowly increase in price for 3-5 years. At which point most sets fall out of demand, why? maybe the theme is old and boring, maybe new pieces or colors have been released making that old set undesirable, in the case of themes like HP and SW sets are often reproduced like the multiple versions of the xwing, in the case of pirates and trains newer sets are bigger and better and people dont want the old sets, the santa fe was the most expensive hard to find train at one point but when the maresk train came out the santa fe dropped in value. So how long should you hold? no one has a crystal ball, but from my experience most sets are ripe for picking around 1-2 years at which point if my inventory is full i will sell to make way for new sets, i recently have cleared out many of my imperial shuttles, emerald nights, maresk trains, etc... to make room and fund purchases of LOTR and other newly retired sets, sure those older sets my appreciate more still but the profits and space was used to buy heavily discounted newly retired sets that i feel will have a significant ROI in 1-2 years. I would rather have a 100% ROI in 1-2 years than a 200% ROI in 3-5 years, sure the 200% ROI is better but in the same time period i can do multiple 100% ROI sets, so no i dont get the "peak" price of the set but thats ok because ive sold multiple sets and totaled many times more profit. Plus for those who have a nagging wife like me, i have to show her that im selling sets on a regular basis or she gets cranky and sceptical of my alternative investment strategy, often i just rearrange my boxes to make it look like ive been selling when i really havent haha.
