  1. I sold off my TIE Fighters, X-wings, and Battle of Hoth since the prices were so high already. I have a few Y-wings, SFC Interceptor, Gungan Subs, and Falcons that I am debating selling soon. Just about everything else will be held longer. I sold the UCS Slave 1 minifigures for $90. I am keeping the Slave 1 for myself and this was a way to get it much cheaper since I will display it without the figures and I can always put a much cheaper Boba in the cockpit if I want.

  2. This note is for sellers... I just received a minifig in a manila envelope. It was at least sent with first class package shipping, but no padding, no nothing. Just a minifig with her tool in an envelope. Paint was scraped from the face and head piece and the envelope looked like it was rammed through a sorting machine. When I ship minifigs, I always include a small craft-sized plastic zip bag and padded mailer. I thought this was standard. Please take care of your customers so they will become repeat customers. I know cutting corners to save money seems like a good idea, but it's worth a few extra pennies/order for padded mailers.

  4. Just want to say "Thank you" to everyone in this thread and those who helped me through PM. I finally opened my store last Saturday and already I have had 3 orders and $180 sales. Considering I only have 110-120 lots and 3k pieces I am super happy. Couldn't have done it without you guys though especially Chinothegeeko. Brickpicker has amazing members that are willing to help if you just ask. Thanks.

  6. The big sets came already built. There are books for about 30 more smaller sets. Spongebob, **** Potter, Indy. Tons of minis. Going to be some work but I couldnt pass it up. Kid was 18 and going to college. Entering his dark age... maybe see him here in 10 years or so.

  8. Basic human psychology dictates that someone who has multiples of any one set will think it's a winner and try to convince everyone it is. Anyone who has 0 of a set will call it a loser and try to convince everyone it's a turkey in an attempt to make themselves feel better about not having any. It's hard to get an unbiased opinion around here. It is what it is.

  11. Having a massive inventory puts them at the mercy of the market. What sets the big players apart is their delta on cost to acquire/sell, not the size of their stack.

  13. Found in the wild today. Atlanta area. I cleared out my TRU (Sandy Springs). When scanned, it said item wasn't supposed to be on sale until 10/28, but the manager cleared it. With the 20% DC discount. So who knows. My partner is checking Duluth, *** and Mall of Georgia locations and planning to clear them out too, if they have them. Good luck lads and lasses.

  14. According to a Jurassic World Game Twitter account; this will be a pre-order bonus from Gamestop/EB Games: Neither site seems to have been updated to reflect this, but it's a pretty cool polybag imo, beats getting another duplicate of a similar character. Will likely pre-order a couple. It also seems to contradict the above images of the Bonus Dr. Wu, maybe different retailer pre-order bonuses, not sure.

  15. Since there's a new Sith Infiltrator coming out, I went ahead and sold my last 7961 for $75. I also quickly sold a 9515 - Malevolence for $175. Both sold within 12 hrs. of being listed.

  18. I picked this up when it was on sale and built it for my personal collection. If you are a die-hard Star Wars fan, you'll want it. The Tusken Raider minifig is great and the model is quite "swooshable" similar to Luke swooshing it in Episode IV as mentioned above.

  19. Frankly, the regular job (I'm a software programmer) pays a lot more per hour. My wife is doing the order picking (25 hours/week or so), and we often hire a few friends to sort parts in short bursts over week-ends. I spend maybe a hour per day to pack orders and customer service. Most importantly, we are also a household of builders. The near infinite supply of parts is very handy, we pick whatever we need right from the store's inventory.

  20. Conclusion, as a Xmas flip your buy in price is too high. It would need to be max 45 euros and hope that it sells out everywhere so you can charge full RRP for it to be worthwhile. I doubt that if it EOL

  21. Okay. I understand you are probably relating your own experience. I'm glad that works for you. It's silly to just "forget big box managers" in all cases because it does not work for you. It works for others here.

  23. Relatively small resellers have "inside" contacts. By contacts, I'm speaking specifically of retail store managers that give heads up and first dibs on clearance and/or salvage.

  24. Shipping to China is very reliable. I would recommend adjusting your settings to allow shipping direct to China. If you do end up opening up shipping to China, I would recommend requesting the buyer to provide a Chinese translation of their address and contact info and taping that to the box, in addition to your normal shipping label and customs forms. This helps to speed the package's arrival. Edit: Wanted to add that the max value per shipment that one can export from USA to other countries, without an export license, is US$2500. Be aware of that if you have similar law in Canada.

  25. True, but you also have to look at the value of having a new series based on this idea---which very well may happen. The expectations being approved are based on history: 1. Minecraft did have 4 sets made under idea 2. RI sold out FAST with Media uproar resulting in a complete 2nd run that also sold out fast. (compared to the languishing ExoSuit) 3. Creator also has another guaranteed hit in Big Bang theory approved and on a roll. 4. SA hit 10,000 in something like 60 days. -- I think the fastest idea to achieve the mark. All these point to Lego completely falling on their face if they don't approve it. If I were Lego, I'd test the market with set #2 and see if it has legs. If so, make it an entire series: 3 set vingettes for $20 --- that's an entire new line that could easily complement the modulars or Any other line in cross promotional settings.

  33. 160k parts here, and I don't believe in dead inventory. If a seller thinks he has dead inventory, the parts aren't priced right for the low demand. You can even set price so low to create a demand where none existed. Of course, it may not fetch as much as what the seller thought when parting out, but the inventory is not dead. There's very little stuff that wouldn't move even if given away for free (like most instructions and boxes).

  38. I would imagine moving forward that ALL modulars will be hoarded (with expection of TH) and they will all do well, it's just a matter of how quickly you feel you need to move them that will determine your return.

  41. So my family made a trip to the Lego store for the last day of double points, and I had a little birthday money left to spend on something for the personal collection. I couldn't decide between the Simpsons House and Slave I. I didn't have enough for either, but my wife being nice and overlooking the extra cost. After much deliberation I decide on the Simpsons House since it's older and I'll have more time to buy Slave I sometime in the future. I'm at the register to purchase it and the check out guy and I are chatting about buying this set over the other. My wife chimes in - and says some something magical, "Oh heck, it's the last day for double points, why don't you just get them both." WHHHAAATTT???!!! It wasn't a trick, it wasn't a test of good husband decision making - she was honestly telling me to get both sets! This was on top of the fact that a week earlier she had secretly worked out a Bday gift surprise with my parents and her parents and got me the Death Star! So, the Death Star has literally been finished less than 24 hours and she rocks it out with giving me the go ahead on Simpsons and Slave I. Best week ever. Best wife ever.

  45. I know more are supposed to be coming but on this Lego ideas blog post https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/1-blog/post/17?comment_thread_page=1#top_of_comments Did they change the wording from the original version of it? I thought originally it said something like hoping you will be able to find in your store soon. The text now states "This means that more sets are on the way, so we hope you will be able to secure these and other special sets from LEGO Ideas." That makes me think there are not as many more coming as one could think if they changed their wording. But maybe my memory is not good.
