  1. OK, I was sticking to my price point and I declared I wouldn't sell a 9468 - Vampyre Castle for less than $200. Well, I just sold one for $200 on EBay. Join me, raise your prices folks!!!

  3. True a lot is up in the air whether The LEGO Movie related sets and items would be remembered or worthwhile later on considering it is a homebrew theme and we have seen how low on the totem pole similar original lines have gone (although some have yielded a select winner or two from time to time). The Sea Cow is a wildcard not really fitting under anything previously released with the build being half Pirate while the other half is steampunk; something LEGO has not yet tried. Such uniqueness could be what shall set it apart or bring the whole thing down. Who truly knows what the current generation will remember let alone the next. Heck, how many people know Godzilla's original name of Gojira or the fact that famous kaiju was inspired by The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms or even why do people remember 'it' in the first place after all this time? Moving along, all of the sets for this theme are basically City vehicles featuring an alternate mode with the exception of a few including the topic in question's design. While each captures the beauty that LEGO offers in freeform creativity, people typically purchase for just what it is. Maybe that soaring destroyer of lavatories will pique someone's interest or perhaps the western tavern turned biplane shall catch somebody's attention or perhaps not. Each set was based on something with little time on screen in a few shots after all so who knows. For me the characters who stuck out were Lucy "Wyldstyle" simply for being her awesome self, Vitruvius since it's difficult to not notice Morgan Freeman ever, and 1980s something astronaut Benny because same as his spaceship he encompasses everything that made Classic Space a classic. He also reminds me of the enthusiastic passion one had when building as a youngling that seems to get forgotten over time. On that note I feel like Benny's Spaceship is a good set; possibly the best from the line. It is not a perfect recreation of Classic Space but makes for a nice nod towards it while bringing forward something new. The Sea Cow does something similar nodding at everything Pirates yet being different at the same. Whether that will be enough is anyone's guess.

  4. Arg the ISD has me in a serious building mood and I have so much other stuff to do, but whatever. Cracked open and built my only fire brigade ($120 from Amazon 2013). The details are incredible. Can't wait to do the rest of the modulars.

  5. No it didn't. They traveled in time and used the ship to reach the base on the moon to kill Jar Jar Bink's mother so he would not exist. Lots of emotion.

  8. Great news for eBay sellers: FedEx One Rate means more ways to save on shipping. You can now print FedEx One Rate labels right from the eBay label platform and can get a simple, predictable, flat rate shipping option for your express packages. With FedEx One Rate you can add to the box without adding to the price. This means sellers no longer need to weigh or measure express packages under 50 lbs. Ship up to 50 lbs. in FedEx One Rate paks, boxes, and tubes Ship up to 10 lbs. in FedEx One Rate Envelopes 12 different packaging options Up to 45,000 drop-off locations FedEx One Rate pricing is available for these FedEx Express services: Standard Overnight and Priority Overnight One Rate 2-Day and Express Saver One Rate In order to use FedEx One Rate, you must package your items using the One Rate packaging options (Envelope, Pak, Small Box, Medium Box, Large Box, Extra Large Box, Tube). This could save us some money with the Small Box as the dimensions are quite large. I do not know if there are any eBay discounts but, if there are, this update brings the cost down below USPS for a variety of items, particularly bulk and used sets (and heavy dolls or cosmetics?). http://www.fedex.com/us/onerate/rates/

  9. They were selling at 33.99 here. Theoretically Ghostbusters should gain the same or even more appreciation depending on how long this set is still around. Choosing between the 2 looking at construction, minifigs, stand etc, Ecto-1 is the better one by a mile.

  19. I think the issue of people being on the fence is because it`s such a "weird/foreign" concept. You really have to have a different perspective to see the potential of a set like this as opposed to UCS sets or Modulars, or even the larger Creator sets. This set is weird. I prefer to say unique, and it`s clear that many others think the same. That`s the issue. I`d say expand your thinking and buy at least a couple, if you`re spending hundreds on Modulars already (not that those aren`t great investments, obviously) but adding some of these even if not just 1 isn`t going to hurt. I think many will be surprised for better or for worse what ends up happening when it is finally gone. When to buy, well it never hurts to do so early, but I believe it`s got some time left on the clock. If you really want to invest though, of course do it asap to make sure it doesn`t leave unexpectedly.

  21. I understand some of the characters in the film are new as they were designed specifically for it but essentially the whole thing is based around a product even older than Star Wars by a couple decades while at the same time younger than Marvel by a similar length of time. The first Monsters Inc. movie was shown in theaters fourteen years ago yet people still remember little Mike and loveable Sulley apparently enough to warrant a sequel just four years ago. Toy Story seems to be another memorable series that will not go away with short made for TV specials aired in the past couple years to a rumored fourth film coming out in the next couple years. The notion of saying nobody will be interested in the characters or film after several years sounds logical in some cases yet if there is anything showing strong after all these years of cinema and television, people rarely forget the unforgettable titles that become true classics. LEGO bricks may be a kid's toy but the company and its product have proven to be more than that. I wonder what all new characters will premiere alongside old ones in The LEGO Movie 2.

  22. I LOVE the Brickfolio option on this site and have found it very, very useful. I wonder if there could ever be an option in the future to have two Brickfolios in the system: one for investing (as is currently) and one for the sets that I'm keeping personally. I already track the latter loosely, but being able to see which sets I'm spending my personal money (or profits) on, how many pieces I have, and what the actual used value of it is would be awesome. The obvious way that I can think to do this now is to create a second BrickPicker account and store all my "kept" sets there. But I know you guys keep track of accounts and Brickfolios and didn't want to screw up your numbers, because what I'd enter there wouldn't be strictly (or at all) for investment. Any chance this could be a coming feature?

  26. Wow, that's crazy. Soon they'll go even further and have the Fedex guy grab the package back out of your hands at your door, run back to his truck, peel out of your driveway in a cloud of tire smoke, and speed off into the sunset whilst laughing like a hysterical maniac.

  27. I went to the Milton Keynes store today on a PS hunt. They had 3 on the shelf. As far as they are concerned this set is not done, they had more out back. I mentioned the delays on LEGO Shop at Home etc... But they think it might be down to the double points period and also they think lego are pushing the Agents Carrier set (not correct name) which is delaying gate next batch of PSs. Could be true. Who knows. But I don't think the PS is done yet.

  29. I finally had some success with WM clearance! Not sure if it was worth all of the cancellations and such, but got the following: Chima Stomper 70145 ($40) GOTG Milano 76021 ($35) Chima Fire Temple 70146 ($35) I've been canceled on about ten times as many orders through the WM app, but nice to get a win!

  40. marvel comics, SW, etc has a long history, Lego Movie not, it is a made-up, new licence, which has just a temporary efekt - something like Monsters inc, after several years nobody will be interested in Movie characters.

  41. I tried to understand this set but cannot... Even if I was a fan of steampunk, this set would not satisfy me. It doesnt look serious (cow in the front, omg), sails are strange, its far from steampunk classic like this: Also the licence and figs are worthless, since it is from a children movie without a value for AFOLs in future. To sum up, I would use EUR 250 better than for this set. Far better is to buy 2 more modulars for example...
