I moved this post from another thread... I have updated this feature to now include the pricing reported from each store. As you can see in the example below, at the top, it shows the suggested retail price, then on each of the actual store listings, it shows the price being reported from that store. Now you can head in the direction of the stores that have it in stock and at a reduced price. On a good note, this feature has only been live for a few weeks and it already has had more than 20,000 searches. That is way more than I expected.

I love how a smoked salmon for lego CL ad completley derailed this thread. Jaisonline is going to pass a brick when he catches wind of this. :D

Two personal, and "in my opinion" observations on this post... 1. If you are going to persuade others of a retirement date, do so as you please, but simply put IN MY OPINION before pleading your case and posting your missive. We all have perspectives/experiences/beliefs on when things are going to go. If you state it is your opinion or analysis that a set is retiring- along with your rationale- most members will appreciate what you have to say, even though they may respectfully disagree. 2. This is an International forum; for myself it's nice to keep in mind that some fellow posters are writing in English as a second or third language. If you weren't born speaking it, it's a tough one to speak- and considerably harder to write.

I think it updates fairly quick. One day the site got hammered because slick deals posted a killer deal on toilet paper (yes, toilet paper, i bought some myself). I watched locations go from a quantity of 72 to 0 within an hour or so, so I think it does update in real time.

I agree with the above, the Sea Cow is in many ways the "flagship" of the line, pun intended, even if it was released later on. The fact that Lego did release it later actually I think was a great one, it gave people time to get aquatinted with the theme and of course see the movie. The concept of the Sea Cow is too far reaching for most people without the context of the Lego movie present in their minds. By that I mean, well, it should be obvious. Look at it, SteamPunk, a Cow? on a ship? I mean, it`s awesome, it`s my favourite TLM set thus far, it`s a beast, but most people would have looked at it and wondered "what the heck is that?" if they hadn`t seen the movie or weren`t familiar with the new line in general. Most people buy the products they "feel" most aquatinted with, that applies to everything. It`s all about image, the image in the buyer`s mind of the product. Context needs to be provided in order to sell said product, so introducing radically different items to the market (like the Sea Cow) without providing any connection or association to another more familiar feeling product line, would result in people not having that feeling of connection with the product, and thus it wouldn`t sell. Ok, it is the Retiring Soon thread, so I`ll tie up that point with something more appropriate. A set like this without context in the market isn`t going to sell nearly as well as other more familiar products do. Following that logic, Lego will not retire the set after other Lego Movie sets have been (it will not be the last to go, I`d put money on it). It needs the other sets available to provide the context of the theme, and inspire more people to buy it. It could go before other Lego Movie sets retire, because logically it can`t go after, but my guess is it will hang around until most/all of the other sets are put to rest. Then the Sea Cow will retire along side. If Lego keeps releasing new Lego Movie sets up until the release of the sequel , that means another couple of years in release, which if you think about isn`t that long ultimately. So, to summarize, my guess is the Sea Cow will stay available until the Lego stops making Lego Movie sets available, or before the release of the second film, in which case they will want to bring in a new context (the storyline and elements of the 2nd film) to the market. Unless the Sea Cow is featured heavily in the sequel, which I doubt, it will be gone before then.

Hey everyone, I posted a version of my Unimog recently.. here are more pictures and another video. For full details of this project check out my mocpages http://mocpages.com/moc.php/407959 I am too lazy to put it all here I had lots of fun with this project, and I think it raises some "firsts" or at least breaks some ground in Technic building in new areas. First, I have no idea for certain, and will probably be proved wrong (which is fine by me) but this model may have the largest third party tires used for Technic models. They are nearly 6 inches tall! I have not seen any taller. Second, I haven't really seen any models being used for muddin'. We have truck trials and climbing competitions, but I have never really seen muddin competitions. This really is not possible with electrically powered models (b/c of the water), and that is why pneumatically powered models are so cool. They can open new doors to our hobby. I haven't seen a model go through more mud or water than this model (maybe I should post this to the records post ). The tires are nearly six inches tall, and with the water well surpassing the wheel wells in the video, this things can easily traverse through seven inches of water. Last.... which goes with the second... but I haven't really seen a lot of pneumatically powered MOCs used for trucks... period. Or climbers, etc. I have seen them used for cars, large cars, but not trucks. ALthough large LPE are not nearly as compact as motors, I think they open new doors as already discussed. The problem with the unimog (IMHO) is that it's ugly and looks dumb, and as a Techinc fan I understand that some people may not be ok to buy some for more than 200

2012 Blue Roadster with a nice 2x6 engine block and dual racing exhaust. I can get about 20-25 miles per ounce of imagination. I was thinking of trading up to a modified Sunset Speeder later in the year but haven't completely decided on that.

The only reason I see is the Town Hall experience and that PC has been mostly out of stock at other retailers, but mostly over the holiday season and that means little. Although, the out of stock at other retailers recently seems to be based on people panic buying PCs from Amazon. If people stopped panic buying and PC was ever allowed to come back into stock at Amazon, then Target would soon drop their price to match Amazon. People are buying PCs up quick enough now that it will provide motivation for Lego to extend its pre-planned production life, IMO.

Yeah there isn't any real reason customer service reps would even need to know retirement dates. Their job is to assist you and to try to make sure you buy something, so the most they need to know is when an OOS set is scheduled to become available again. It doesn't do them any good from a sales perspective to be telling customers, "Yeah you've got 2 years left to buy the Palace Cinema, glad I could prevent you from spending money today." I'm still awaiting an explanation as to why people think PC is up for retirement this year. And preferably one that does not include the words "town" and "hall".

So the CS reps are telling people over the phone when sets are planning to retire? That's enough Internet for me today.

The tracker seems to show what the price WILL be. That price won't actually get marked down until Thursday morning/afternoon (for most stores) when they physically start adjusting the prices in the store/system. (If you are noticing a change today) - Also of note, it is not 100% accurate - 90% of the stores I went to had the prices shown in tracker, the others did not.

Completely agree with Alpine here. Lego ship enthusiasts are the craziest, must-have-one-of-each-set of the bunch. Same with train folks. Always an audience for our boat/train investment sets with these maniacs... I know from experience (congrats to whichever of you I bought a Black Pearl from for three hundred dollars). The Lego Movie is just getting started. Franchise-power is the name of the game in Hollywood. Get ready for a SW movie every year, multiple Marvel Avengers universe films every year, and next... Lego Movies galore. Four movies are already schedule for production; the first being Lego Batman (May 2017). A May release date from Warner Brothers tells you something very important: this film is a heavy-weight, and will be contending with a slew of other summer blockbusters. Huge money, huge audience. And a very bright future for the entire franchise. This makes the flagship set from the first movie- The Sea Cow- an outstanding investment. There will be future demand. Just like the fairground "theme"... future iterations will drive past theme demand. And speculating here... as an investor, I love the lack of investment buzz around this set. It pairs wonderfully with the fairground themes, it pairs wonderfully along with the modular lines, it looks great on its own, it's an extraordinarily complex design scheme. To quote W. Buffett... "Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful". To each their own on any investments- I will be placing significant $ into both these sets.

Since we're de-railing I want in. Love both of those models- the Outback and Mazda. My first- and one of my favorite cars- was a 1983 Mazda RX-7 (rotary engine) with a manual transmission. Nothing else like it. Got it in '96 with less than 30k on it. We've had a few nicer ones since, and probably due to the sentimental attachment, it remains my favorite. Current is an 11' Audi A6 S-line... it's a beast. But not manual. My wife's car. Neighbor's kid has a manual WRX with AWD and 470 HP. The thing handles like a Lambo... incredible performance for the $.

Downside to this great feature is when your wife loves target and shops there daily its only a matter of time before she's searching for clearance deals of her own therefore cutting into the LEGO profits made off of it LOL.

I know right. I'm tempted to make the 2hr road trip. Do a little boarding, eat a little salmon. Enjoy the view (snow bunnies). I'm 99% sure this is authentic native Indian smoked salmon. I don't see anyone else making this offer, especially outside of Vancouver. There is a good chance it's made with maple syrup, usually called candied salmon. Double whammy baby!

Walmart doesn't kid around with their creative tower shipping. Best job I've seen from walmart on anything. 5 creative towers packed in a single frankenbox made out of 2. Sturdy and huge. Think I'm going to resell the boxes as bedrooms.

IMO, the biggest % gain from the entire line will be The Double Decker Couch. I believe it will be the iconic, must-have set from the entire Lego Movie Series in the future. The couch itself- and the entire slew of mini-figs- in one outstanding and great-looking set. A++++, and thank you TLG. I won't miss out on a couple Sea Cows, but I'll continue to invest in the DDC till it retires.

I'm very excited! I know many have surpassed this but It is a big day for me. It has taken a lot of time and work to get there but this morning I received my 1,000th feedback on eBay and I met my goal to have it be 1,000 positive feedbacks with no neutral or negatives! Fun that it came with a glowing Mixels feedback. I am sure I will not stay 100% forever but it was a goal I have been working on for a couple of years and it came true. Have a good day!

CL isn't exactly the bastion of humanity but this scumbag is the worst I have dealt with to date. Guy posts an ad with horrible pictures and says he will accept a reasonable offer. I take a stab at an offer based more on his text than anything and even let him know I was offering without knowing what he really had. The next morning I get a "I accept your offer" reply, and we send back and forth 6 emails confirming time, address, pickup, etc etc. In terms of deals, this was done complete in the books ready to go. Meanwhile I spend a large part of my day (sick, staying home from work) researching what I can about the lot and themes he claimed to have and it looks like a good deal. An hour before our transaction (11 hours and 6 emails after he accepted) I get an email telling me the price has gone up but I am welcome to stop by and make a new offer. Hey clown, FU. I admit I have had pretty good luck with CL so this may be tame to some. Got a bad story? Share it and let the healing begin!

And now I'm really scarred I like to throw a curveball here and there. Keep you guessing. Figured a car junkie post would throw you off my trail
