  1. I searched for a thread for this set but didn't see one. Mods, if I missed it then please feel free to combine them. With the recent clearance of this set at Target and Walmart, and the varying opinions on it's potential value and seemingly over abundant supply (at Target at least), I thought it would be a good idea to have a thread to discuss. Personally, I am a big believer in this set. It has five figs, four of which should be popular, a so-so bat-plane, and the very unique steam roller that the Joker drives. The steam roller is what caught my eye at first when this set was released. I think it fits the Joker to a tee, and I doubt we will ever see one again. This set should pair well with the funhouse and yet to be released joker land. I currently have 27 of them all bought right around the current $35 clearance price, and the chance to buy several more. At 30% off I think this set is a no brainer, but the abundance of them at Target intrigues me. Why do they have so many, as compared to other retailers like walmart? My walmarts have been out of this set for awhile, but target keeps bringing them out to refill the shelf every time it's empty. Since it appears that many of us are loaded up, this set may take awhile to see any solid gains, even if you are patient and roll the dice to try and score some at 50% off or more. Has anyone parted this set out with any consistent success? What are some other opinions on this set's potential?

  2. We share information. They get ours, we get theirs. We will also send new members their way with links on the set guide page and visa versa. We will pick up new members and the Classifieds could benefit as well. Their sales can increase if their prices are lower. We become the Ultimate LEGO Price Guide.

  3. Look at what came in the mail today. Thanks to trekgate for running this small contest to make things interesting. What I am also impressed about is the nice packaging in addition to him coming through.

  4. DadsAFOL, I am going to hijack your initial post here to put what I had written up but couldn't post because I had no idea my internet just went down, but you still get the credit for finding it first Today, Ed and I are very happy to announce that the BrickPicker Price Guide now includes current pricing from BrickLink. This has been a request that we have been asked about MANY times over the past few years and there wasn't really all the much we could do. We asked and while there was interest, not much could be done with the old owners of the site. A few days ago, I received a note from the COO of BrickLink asking if we interested in moving forward with what can be considered a information partnership between the two sites. BrickLink is also including a link to our price guide on all of their catalog pages. The BrickLink price values are based on a rolling six month period, so make sure take that into account when you looking at the prices. Newer sets that have just gone EOL will see a greater discrepancy until the time and average catch up. We are also including BrickLink marketplace information with a direct link to their catalog to look at and purchase sets. I hope everyone here enjoys the access to have the values for the two largest marketplaces all in one spot. Hopefully this will be the first of many chances to work with BrickLink moving forward. There will be an opportunity to add different features with currency and different regions. I will be looking into those options soon. At this time it has been announced on BrickLink and honestly, I have no idea why some Bricklink members are so upset. They will have the opportunity to earn the business of people that are serious about buying LEGO. With the Bricklink set prices on every Set Guide page, there is now the opportunity for BrickPickers to check out prices and sets on Bricklink. This is added exposure for Bricklink sellers that they didn't have before. As we always say, price your items correctly and they will sell. This applies not only with Brick Classifieds, but with Bricklink as well. I am not upset at all by some of the reactions, Ed and I have come to expect it. Let us know your thoughts!! DadsAFOL's original post I searched but didn't see any forum post about this. The BrickLink catalog pages are now linking to Brickpicker. That should drive lots of new traffic. 6. Just read their forum posts in response to the announcement. Their haters are too funny. It's like they'd prefer to live behind the Berlin Wall or something. I just hope those people don't come over to our forum

  7. More information and crossover is always good in my opinion, as a seller and a buyer. BL forums are among the most drama-filled I've ever witnessed, even after 20+ years on the internet and even including gaming sites populated with hormonal teenagers. I wouldn't let knee-jerk reactions there faze me a bit.

  8. For one Scooby has been around since 69 vs 84 for tmnt. I think both were cool abd I grew up with both. Scooby has more appeal I think with the older group as so many watched it growing up. It also has Halloween appeal which is a large grossing holiday for retailers. While I can see where you are comparing the two being franchises geared towards kids turned Lego, I think the tenure and Halloween feel of Scooby and gang will out perform tmnt by far. 11. The last 2 pages of the thread mention sets purchased with codes from week 51/14 3/15 and now 5/15 and I guess they pack more than 1 box per day or it might be because I am dating a girl whose friend works on the production line - choose whichever seems more coherent

  14. Free shipping doesn't really skew the cost of business much more if you build it into the price correctly. Always play it on the high side and then reap the rewards if someone buys the item in the same zone as you. It also gives you more room to work with if you have "Best Offer" enabled. If they are in the same zone as you, it gives you more wiggle room to negotiate.

  16. I snagged a used, complete with instructions (no box) 10189 Taj Mahal off ebay a few days ago for $600 - 10% ebay bucks = $540. It arrived today. Super stoked! I have nowhere to actually display it, so I will probably just build & then flip for profit.

  21. I have updated the title and starting post of this thread. I did not want to create another topic since it is already here. Don't worry about the negative comments. We have heard it all before. The sellers and members that know its good for them don't really care. They welcome the business. Everyone here can welcome the data. That is why it is all good. We are happy and the people working at BrickLink are happy. The rest will unfold.

  24. I think it's a great set for building and playing for kids. Heck, I just purchased two at $36 each (sealed bags but no box) for my son's upcoming b-day and extra parts. I'm just not investing in this set even at $35 each. Why? The Super Hero theme is saturated and there always seems to be a new kid on the block or flavor of the month. i rather spend the money elsewhere in themes where I don't have to worry about refreshes every year with vehicles and / or minifigures. I can only imagine the prices this set would have fetched if part of the Batman 1 theme...

  32. As far as I know there are no 2015 seal codes. Perhaps that 50R4 run was designed to be large enough to last for awhile. It appears it also had to fix a previous run error. It will be interesting to see if it moves to OOS during the double VIP in March.

  34. Beastmaster the TV series didn't run long and was rather forgettable compared to Hercules or Xena. (The movies were better too.) I can still remember watching the film Starman as a kid and some of the serial. Yes, Automan barely ran one season. Nice to see we have yet another thing in common with Forever Knight. I'm not surprised by Starhunter. It's confusing too when there also was a film called "Star Hunter" and not many has seen that either. That last Invisible Man series was a SciFi original back when the channel was actually spelled that way instead of the 'hipper' I suppose SyFy now. It was funny and had some good stuff. Ah, the series that starts out the same way every episode of The Hulk ends. Haha. Before he was Bond, he was the guy....who never existed. The banter the two main leads had was fun and witty. I bought the DVDs out of curiosity but much like the time this series was shown on TV, I haven't watched it. I knew somewhere Airwolf was going to rise up in this conversation about .....wait, what were we going on about again? Was it "Themes We Liked" or "Oddball TV Shows"? I can't remember and got carried away. Anywho, I kind of recall Street Hawk a little or should I say the intro. I never saw Misfits of Science but that theme tune was sweet. Yeah but is it really any worse than today's offerings of television? Sure the older stuff was corny between effects and acting but a lot of the current ideas considered 'entertainment' is laughable on a different level in some cases, like supposed reality shows, trailer trash. Well before this topic becomes another one about film and television, I'm just going to step back and leave this track fitting of a decade gone here. Good fight, good night.

  36. I am more interested in seeing if this really goes, or if it will be like Daily Bugle which was clearanced last year at this time the same way, but then was restocked at Walmart and others. If it's going away, then I like it a ton. If it gets restocked, I still like it, but wonder how many will be stashed in another year. Daily Bugle will be an interesting barometer for similar reasons. As for the glut of Super Heroes sets, it is kind of tough since there isn't anything to really compare it to, but I am trusting the sets with 1 time only unique figs.

  37. Gulp. I finally did it. I've avoided them forever. God help me. I ordered my first one, since it showed on Amazon Prime at MSRP, and I've hit my quota of my desired sets (modulars, mainly). I will probably regret this, but I'm the proud owner of one NIB 10188. Long live the Death Star!

  38. I contacted a store and they said they can't tell when they are comin in but check in a couple of weeks. They also found them in the system and gave me their listed pricing. Mini Cooper $149 Detective's Office $229 I didn't bother to ask about introductory pricing or discounts but I wouldn't rule those out.

  39. I would gladly take them off your hands at that price!

  40. It's not hard to read reviews of the set and see mention of the 10,000 container stickers. I'd read a review of a $150 set before buying. $150 buys a lot in the toy marketplace. And this is not exactly a cheap set. If Lego can make money selling a GE at the same price as EEE, but with 50% more pieces, they can certainly make money selling a EEE with printed containers. It's not like they'd be lettering them by hand or something.
