  2. Alot more end users already have GE in their collection. Most missed out on TH. Resellers stockpiled GE but most missed out on TH. TH is the centerpiece for the modulars collection and is a must have:

  5. This is probably the strangest or most random purchase story I have had so far. A couple of years ago, in a kid's activity center gift shop I found a couple of retired 8051 Technic Motorbike's for $45.99. I bought one and left one (was selling for about $120 at that time). We were there again probably a year or so later, and they suddenly had 4 on the shelf. That time I bought 3, which all have sold in the $150-$160 range. We returned again about 6 months ago and they had nothing. I happened to be by there yesterday, so we popped in for a look, and they had FOUR of them on the shelf again! Picked up all 4 this time. It's a fairly rare set with very few for sale on Amazon/eBay, I have no idea where they keep finding these, guess I need to just ask how many more they have in the back. :-)

  6. He's asking about the "passes on" sets... The ones that don't get made get squat as far as we know. I find this whole notion that Lego steals ideas from the ideas site pretty funny. I can't imagine the good designers wouldn't look for MOCs on the net for ideas... Or experiment with a wide variety of models before settling on a few choice models.

  10. PS Falling water went from 99 available at Lego to "Sold Out" about a week ago. .........Kinda big news Fallingwater just yesterday went to secondary sellers only on Barnes&Noble .com THAT might be the big news. Amazon is now the only retailer to still have it at retail and they are limit 2. The hoard may now descend. Thank you.

  14. Classic supply and demand situation. Resellers think it will go X times MSRP so are buying them from other resellers thus pushing the price up further. We will see if they manage to create a bubble or if there is really a sustained genuine demand very soon. Also if you see the full street built , it is the most commanding building and is a real centrepiece.

  18. There's unconventional, cheap, old school or whatever you want to call it lol and then there's guys giving away these labels on ebay for 1.5 cents to 2 cents per label delivered Can't see how a sheet of paper and tape is cheaper than 1.5-2 pennies a label but as we say to each his own I went about 10 years and gave in. Shoot I remember the old little Pitney Bowes postage machine you stuck the bubble mailer in and it put postage on for you. Before that stamps in all sorts of combinations for the mailers lol.

  26. Have a current inventory either in excel or some other format Set Number, Name, Quantity,Price and comment such as damaged box. Come up with a price you will accept for the individual sets and a discount if the buyer takes them all. I did this with a couple hundred sets it was a win/win for both parties.

  27. Down to bags 4 and I love this build. While TH still remains my favourite as for the bang/buck, this one is my favourite when it comes to detail, character and building fun. A relief after building PS and PR.

  29. I thought the same thing about the kiosk. The other ones from the Friends line that can be repurposed to a Fairground/Carnival are Olivia's Ice Cream Bike and Stephanie's Pizzeria. Also, the following polybags: Smoothie Cart (30202), Rapunzel Market Visit (30116), Flower Cart (40140), Balloon Cart (40108), Hot Dog Stand (40078).

  31. It was actually yesterday, but I bought 2 Trevi Fountains and 1 Brandenburg Gate from the Archetecture line. The Trevi Fountain sets were $34.76 marked down from $49.90 and Brandenburg Gate was $21.34 marked down from $29.99. Got these at Target and was really surprised. They were actually hiding on the second shelve down behind the 30% off clearance sign. You couldn't see them just looking at the shelf. You had to lift up the sign to see them. I'm so glad I looked!! It's about time I found a couple discounted sets.....and I'm glad they were Archetecture sets since I don't have any.

  32. Buy high and ... sell higher! and I mean that. I suggest people avoid cheap sets unless you're very comfortable with selling online. 1) buy sets that are ~$100+ (GB, RI and arch. sets are ok too. i.e. limited collectors stuff) 2) get any discount/rewards you can (mostly discounted gift cards on the sets mentioned in 1)) 3) try to buy near EOL (End Of Licence, i.e. not making the set any longer)

  35. You'll sit on those for too long waiting for them to appreciate. Here's three quick tips because I'm bored: -Join the free Barnes and Noble email club (or the full club for 25 bucks), wait for an email coupon, and use it to buy every "Fallingwater" Lego set in your area in-store. -Try to get some Ghostbusters Ecto-1 at Toys R Us using coupons (none right now but they creep up every week or two)...that will be a winner. -If you see people post that "Research Institute" is live for its normal price, get some. You'll want them one year from now even with no discount now.

  36. Just built my very first MOC alternate using only pieces from 31012 Family House. Wanted to try it out as a "modular" size house and this was the result What do you think? Any recommendations? Each level comes off easily as well, second floor and roof.

  39. Welcome to Brickpicker! Yep, there is absolutely tons of stuff on here. The forum is also well organized, so topics are fairly easy to find, just got to look in the right places. Just a quick rundown, there is the search bar at the top right, and plenty of categories on the main forum page, inside each you have the specific threads relating to all kinds of info. I gaurentee you there is much more than one might expect to find, it`s amazing. If you`ve got any general questions feel free to ask someone or myself. There`s plenty of very knowledgable folks on here who I`m sure will be happy to help, but like stephen_rockefeller said, you can find lots with just a bit of looking.

  41. Nice find! Don't know about you, but I've always found when I actively seek out yard sales or estate sales, I never find anything good. It's always the ones you randomly run into or go just because a friend or significant other is going.

  42. I don't normally follow this thread so I apologize if it has been said. I am sure I am not the first to say it but if you are holding on the set 6866...it may be time to let it go...with the new deadpool movie coming out, surely there will be additional deadpool sets. (There may already be one...I have trouble keeping up with all the lego minifigures currently out.) Just a thought...

  43. Huw of Brickset has done something 'tried & true' with other modulars by adding another floor to the Detective's Office. It does make the structure more level with Green Grocer and a couple of the older modular houses but now it seems too big altogether in my opinion. >Detective's Office + extra floor
