  1. I have only had to use USPS insurance once. It was for some broken wine glasses I sent priority that was under the $100 free insurance. They only needed to see pictures for the claim. It was an easy process. I think you are over thinking it a bit. Make the buyer return the item to you if they want a refund. Don't do partial refunds, ever. It is such an ez way for a seller to get scammed. Make the buyer return the item. That is what eBay would have them do in a SNAD case anyways. A lot of buyers will back down if you require them to return the item instead of giving away a partial. As a rule I never ever do partials. If they return it and the item is trashed and not resellable, then file the USPS claim. Just make sure you don't wait too long and miss the window for the claim.

  2. Now if this post read, "Kiss a TRU employee on v-day and get 20% off" I think you'd have a bunch of takers. or better yet Target!

  3. don't worry! it was the same way with Harry Potter and PotC theme. Every set in the line was always 25% or more off. Lego and Walmart couldnt give freeing Dobby's away after christmas .that set got as low as $2.50 before it dissappeared from clearance shelf.. in March.. lol.. Black pearls and Hogwart Castles sat on shelfs for months (ney, years) collecting dust at 25% off the second year they were out. It wasn't until they were 40%- 50% off they started selling again. same with Wolverines Chopper showdown, same with original Batman theme. Daily Bugle showdown has a lot going for it in that it's pretty much the best Spider-man set there is and has several exclusive superheroes that won't get made again. many here that deal in small box sets may likely lot it up with spider-cycle and net a quick $100 or so ($35-$50 profit) 4th quarter 2015. toss in a good marvel now spidey book you picked up in the dollar bin at a comiccon, people will eat that up all day. After all Rhino will need a Daily Bugle to smash!

  4. So I thought I would try and start a thread for settings for label printers people use - how to set them up and how to get started. A mod can add if others have settings and other Label printers people can use. Dymp 450/Dymo 400/ Turbos There are two parts. When you go to print the labels (like when you are purchasing them - if you already did, you have to void and start over - extremely stupid) click on the "printer and label receipt preferences". You want to go down to "Supported Label Printers" and then select Dymo Labelwriter 400 2.4x7. The second part is in the actual dymo printing preferences inside your PC. If you have a Windows OC, just go to "Devices and Printers" in the control panel. IN there, right click on the printer and click "printer preferences". On the first tab "General", click "preferences". On the next pop up, click "advanced". You will see a folder list-type of window. Click on the first + "paper/output" and then set it to 99019 Large Lever Arch.

  6. Have the buyer send you plenty of pictures of the destroyed box, and the destroyed contents. Since you paid for shipping, it's on you to submit an insurance claim. Attach all pictures to the claim. I've had to submit claims twice, and I received my money from USPS within a month for both of them. The were both for under $50 though.

  9. Apparently a Barnes and Noble about 100 miles away still has 21007 Rockefeller Center. I placed a pick up in store order for 5 and got a confirmation text. They had 21106 Nether too so I then placed an order for some of those. Got the confirmation text again. So then I picked up some 22% B&****** gcs to pay for it all and I have myself a road trip this weekend.

  10. On multiple orders I've had stores do it in the past although I'm sure they aren't supposed to. I assume as long as I don't challenge that I never received it no problem - which obviously I wouldn't. She saving me time. She was having some issue where the orders weren't even showing as checked in even though I already got the ready for pickup emails.. friendly people at least.

  11. I think a lot of the recent Friends sets that have been showing up at WM clearance is because the Elves sets are going to take some of the Friends shelf space.

  12. Clearance at non-Lego retailers does NOT equal End of Life. There are many MANY examples of sets clearanced at the end of 2012, and the end of 2013 that clearanced out from Walmart & Target that came back in full force. It has to do with shelf space, seasonality of toy purchasing, and perhaps many other things we have no idea about. The bat cave was clearanced out and came back. The Xwing was clearanced out and came back. The Falcon was clearanced out and came back. I'm more than willing to bet that will be the same case with items like the AT-AT and Star Destroyer. Now clearance prices at Lego.com and Lego B&M stores DO tend to signal EOL.

  14. I posted here when I received them, they were not new seals. They were either late '13 or early '14, but now they are boxed up with previous batches in storage. Think they were also "S" seals.

  15. Someone bought 40 from TRU.com recently (last month?). I wonder what seal codes on those copies. And yes, Hubble would have bumped the price of Rover. I am using this set to exercise patience. One of my best buy ever, almost 3x MSRP in less than a year

  16. In Europe there is a fight between sellers and buyers regarding this set. Sellers want to have 130 Euro at least. Buyers want to pay maximum 110 - 120 Euro. So, Now I'm waiting who wins this competition... ;-)

  17. Once it gets a retired tag in the US I think it will bump to $125 and should reach $150 this Christmas. Even if it stalls at $125 it's still only a $30 set that was released only 13 months ago. Its performance can't be described as anything but excellent.

  18. On which printing platform? I use a ql-700 to print ebay labels on the narrow shipping labels and it works fine. Just choose the ql550 as your printer and the 2.4" labels. Here - more verbose instructions: http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/ebay-comc-online-selling-shows-paypal-shipping/371565-how-use-brother-ql-700-label-printer-usps-shipping.html

  21. You have to consider Lego's fixed costs. The first AT-AT to walk off the production line costs at least tens of thousands of dollars in design and setup, roughly equal to a bazillion Danish kroner. The marginal cost for each additional set is very low. If Lego makes a habit of running 6-month production times, they'll wreck their margins. Neither the star destroyer nor the AT-AT is going to be a low-sales set like 10227, so I'd wager this is a little hiccup in the distribution chain or something, rather than early EOL. As for the cargo train, I have no idea. I've always preferred ******-scale.

  30. Could be a shortage or problem with a common component like tracks or power functions. The extra track packs are also sold out in the EU so that may be why.

  31. Why? Why do you care if others lose money? The sooner others get out the less competition for you when you decide to start selling yours. I never understand why people care about how other people invest. The only things that really annoy me are the things that affect me. Like how you can't get any discounts anymore because the horde mass panic buys any set that has the slightest sign of shortage causing more shortage at msrp.

  34. This website is a business. It needs to remain professional and responsible. We never know who is reading the site. I really don't think you will see a free for all at brickset or eurobricks or any other LEGO community These guys are doing their job and we appreciate their efforts. If members would do what they are supposed to do then mods wouldn't have to do anything. Then there would be no complaints.

  37. It's been out just over 2 years which is pretty typical. I wouldn't worry about the low buy-in prices because those are now done and eBay value will get better with time. This has just recently sold out and some are still in the wild so check back in 4Q to see how it's doing then. If this was available from Shop at Home at a discount for weeks and weeks then I would be a little worried but the remaining stock sold out quickly and LEGO didn't even have to tag it as "retiring soon".

  42. weather but mainly getting worn / scraped / thrown around during transit. i can't tell you how many times packages arrived at my house with sticky labels w/ ink smears or slight tears. all it takes is one key portion of the address label (e.g. zip code) to get messed up and poof, delivery times are delayed. then buyers blame you. when using pouches, i just make sure it's placed firm and flat on the box (no air inside). another plus is the shipping pouch adds another layer of protection for keeping the box sealed.
