Just bought these from a lady for 430$, all complete with box, instructions and spare parts. I told her, she could get much more for them, but she just wanted to get rid of them...8 points

Dark blue is called earth blue by Lego. There are several "earth" colors, and they all correspond to "dark" in common names. Here's a good reference on color names across BO/BL/Lego/Peeron: http://www.brickowl.com/colors3 points

The set in the front we already know and may already be able to purchase however if you glance towards the back of the display, you can spot something new with a "Jaws" character and shark to match. A bottom for a wicked base looms overhead.2 points

TLG can't win. People say they would pay more for printed parts, then complain that the new avenger carrier is too expensive.2 points

So their new business model is to cause panic sending real customers scrambling to pay inflated secondary market prices, then "flooding" the market leaving customers who trusted their word holding the bag? My BS detector is flashing.2 points

I humbly accept these counter-points! I can accept Batman fighting an intelligent ape, but if he is ever reduced to fist-fighting a sloth or small-mouth bass, I am done with him completely. And even though Batman isn't "retiring" anytime soon- Brett Michaels should. How many more times should we all have to hear "every rose has its thorn"?2 points

Ship using PayPal shipping via Canada Post - there is a modest discount still. You can also join the Canada Post Venture One programme free of charge, for the same discounts + it will allow you to use features & add-ons (like signature verifications) that aren't always available on some of the options presented through PayPal (like shipping item values over $1000.oo). The VIP programme will also give you access to receive free materials delivered right to your door - labels, fragile stickers, air-mail/express post stickers etc. every once & awhile you can get free packing slip pouches & envelopes too but these are kinda random. If you are shipping items that you want to put significant insurance on, use only new (1st-use) boxes & not used grocery store castaways. It will help expedite the claim if you need it for "damaged in transit" - you'll need to tell the investigator that you followed the CP shipping guide on points like shipped in a new shipping box, 200lb crush weight, item packaged with 4 inches of padding all around the sides and top/bottom, no other marking or barcodes were on the box. - they can & will deny a claim for damaged in shipping if the box was not a shipping class box or was previously used (CP recognises 1st-use only as valid shipping materials - even though they will accept a taped up cereal box at the counter!) order your materials in bulk from places like U-line or Staples Industrial (not the big red store). check your local town for small supply companies that buy in bulk from these place as well if you don't want to maintain an inventory of boxes yourself or haven't the space. Here in Ottawa there are several small box companies - I like Prichards Packaging - they warehouse pretty much everything you need & ship materials from Toronto every Thursday. Storage Locker rental lots often have box sales as well when they get overstocked. Also check out Party/Wedding/supply stores - they often have may shipping supply options too.2 points

Buy the set from Lego when they give away promos with certain purchases. That's one of the best ways to get some sort of discount on exclusive Lego sets.1 point

It's not easy to get prices from my iPod, but there are more. UCS Slave 1 $200 vs $230 Volvo Loader $250 vs $300 Imperial Star Destroyer $130 vs &150 The new ATAT isn't terrible at $110 vs $130. The only catch is you can't purely just go by the difference.. You have to consider sales too. This makes the exclusives you listed above much more appealing. Some folks have gotten awesome deals on the Volvo loader and Costco had them for 25% off... Hoping they get more but it looks like they're getting rid of all their Lego. Even the Epic Dragon Battle is now gone from their website.! So from my list, the UCS Slave I is a potential winner and I'm betting the up coming UCS Tie will be too. Beyond that, no way. Does anyone reading this forum know if Lego adjusts prices? I'm thinking Live Star ... It's never had its price adjusted in what's it at now, 8 years?1 point

You guys are clued in to something I did some research on in the late summer. There is a window of big exclusive sets from late 2014 and early 2015 where the dollar to dollar price differential is as small as it get when comparing US LEGO retail to Canadian. I think with the collapsing dollar LEGO sets released closer to mid 2015 and after will see a bigger differentials again as LEGO adjusts. Any Lego set sold in Canada is about 20%, on average, higher the USA price, so I've targetted sets below 20%. The biggest winner right now is the T1 VW at only a $10 difference or 8% differential. Tumbler, Slave I, and Simpson's House are next at 15%. The Haunted House was 15% when it was still on the shelf Sandcrawler is at 17%. Sydney Opera house and Parisian are at 19% Sea Cow, Ewok village, Fairground Mixer, Triple E, VW Mini, Benny's Spaceship, Ecto 1 are some good examples sitting at 20% Upcoming Helicarrier looks to have a good differential of 14% if it is indeed $400 vs $350 US price There may some mainstream sets and non-exclusives that fall under 20% as well but I haven't found any of note. My spot checking of prices shows differentials of much more than 20%. I like Santas Workshop but at 29% it is a tougher pill to swallow. I've avoided the big creator buildings because they were consistently marked up 25% to 33% above USD. Even the recent Detective is still 25%. So there you go, if there other gems that are priced right please add to the list. Not that I don't pickup EOL sets at a higher differential when I can but when all things are equal I'm looking at T1s, Tumblers and maybe some more Simpson's for 20151 point

Per Eurobricks review: The Inner bags are many in number, you get a total of 17 normal bags. You get one #1 bag, two #2 bags, two #3 bags, one #4 bag, two #5 bags, three #6 bags, three #7 bags, two #8 bags, and one #9 bag. Additionally you get a bag with other parts for the ship including the massive fans. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92762 You also have large loose hull pieces in there so that could be what you are hearing. If you have two weigh them both and see if they match up.1 point

Why argue with Lego about being a reseller when you are? I don't get that. It's not going to work anyway (no one here has gotten *out* of a ban that I know of). I don't like the policy either, but if Lego decides to ban me for being a reseller - even though I've got 8 Lego-loving children so as good of an excuse as anyone for why I buy multiples of any set, I'll take it like a man. There's very little in this world worth lying about, neither Lego nor money make the list.1 point

Well, their experiment failed. Many regular consumers failed to get the product online and had no access to a LEGO store and many resellers took advantage of this shortage and sold their Tumblers for a profit and restocked after the holidays. As for a new Falcon, bring it on. It will be a different version, with different characters and a whole new investment opportunity.1 point

you would need the seller to confirm all the bags are there. we have a thread that is about how many sealed bags per box. like the 1980s GI Joe cartoon, knowing is half the battle. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/10178-number-of-sealed-bags-in-each-lego-set/?hl=sealed1 point

I think the set looks better than this I also think treks contest was just something to get the community involved in a slower time of the year. Maybe the thread derails for a day or so but then it will be back to normal. Not much different than arguing back and forth over if its retiring or not retiring like other threads did for multitudes of pages (TH, R2, and others)1 point

First, Gorilla Grodd is a super-intelligent ape (not a monkey, there is a difference) Second, he was/is legitimate Justice League villain (just watch JLU cartoons) Lastly, if you ever watched Batman Beyond, you have already seen Batman / Bruce Wayne vs blood pressure / heart conditions :D1 point

I love Schumer. Garfunkel and Oats (Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci) are great too. This ghostbusters lineup looks horrible. I imagine it will be quickly forgotten like other recent reboots.1 point

Satanists, lol. Tolkien- who wrote LOTR- was a die-hard Christian, and biblical themes (agree with them are not) are scattered throughout his stories. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were part of the same writing circle (The Inklings), and both based what they were doing on Christian themes (C.S. Lewis much more blatantly). Having built a ToO, and placed a Lego Smaug on top, I can tell you the effect is outstanding. This set is big, highly-detailed, and draws upon a literally work that is older than the majority of members of this forum (pre-WW II). Your two hundred dollars may be better spent adding 39 dollars and buying a Tower Bridge. Mine has been spent purchasing both. You will never see a Tower of Orthanc produced from TLG again, ever. What you will see, however, is future fans of Lord of the Rings- both the books and the movies- coupled with new-found Lego fans- who stumble upon this extraordinary piece and deem a several thousand investment worthy of what Tolkien's incredible work will mean to them. Ignorance of what this set represents is holding back many investors.1 point

They don't want to go for the investor's jugular because LEGO enjoys having the LEGO secondary market strong and the values high. One affects the other, regardless of the bans. As I stated to another member recently, if LEGO destroys the secondary market, the perceived value of new sets will suffer greatly. The secondary market LEGO prices are the main reason LEGO can charge(and get it) $400.00 for a box of ABS plastic and Mega Bloks and Kreo-O cannot. The rise of LEGO to #1 stature in the world of toy making and profits walked hand in hand with eBay and the explosion of secondary market sales. As eBay became more popular, LEGO followed suit. Don't let anyone tell you different. Sure, there was a change to a more adult oriented style of set(UCS...Modular...Advanced Models), but did anyone ever really think why LEGO went that route? LEGO likes to ban certain VIP members because they want to make a point of not being excessive and to stop competing with them with currently available sets. As for a new Falcon, I guess the rumor is of a large Falcon playset that will replace the 10188. Even if it's a new 10179, could you blame LEGO for redoing the set? People have had plenty of time to make a profit from that set. Time for another generation of resellers to take advantage of a new version.1 point

I find myself calling eBay CS quite often when I get Item Not Rec'd Cases while the item is still in transit. Once I see delivery confirmation I call right away to have the case closed bc apparently it counts as a defect if the buyer were to close the case on their own. They told me that the option to escalate the case to eBay CS is not available to the seller for 3 business days after the case is opened, and often the item ends up delivered within those few days. Cassini lowers you in search if you have an unresolved open case (and it's a fairly significant strike on your dashboard, too). So, answer the buyer within the case (so that you are on record as having the last response on the case and it shows "waiting for buyer's response/action") and wait out the 7 (I think it's still 7) days for the case to close on its own; or, if you are absolutely sure eBay will find in your favor, call CS and ask them to escalate and close the case on your behalf.1 point
