If you are patient for another day, maybe two at the tops, I will be pushing the latest release of our stock tracker that will finally include alerts via SMS, Email and website. We did some super cool stuff to keep times down really low. I don't think any other service is doing this. Right now, it is tracking a little over 1500 different links non stop and most get checked in a few seconds and at the most under a minute. It's crazy If you haven't seen, the last update we had is tracking LEGO sets from all the different Amazon Regions as well as 8 different LEGO regions. I am waiting on a few answers for Non USA members, but they will at least be able to get email and website alerts here on brickpicker. Hopefully I get the answer I am looking for and then they will be able to register their phone numbers to get alerts as well. I have been testing it the past few days with Ed and it has been working great. I know I need to add a bunch of sets to the list, I will get to that tomorrow.

Sold a HH for $350 + shipping on ebay the other day. Put up another one at my next price step of $400 + shipping thinking it would take a few months, but someone took me up on it today. So we can now say HH has cracked $400 on ebay. Of course the buyer has zero feedback but they paid right away. And I'll do signature confirmation and insure the package to reduce the likelihood of any funny business.

If you think it is a failure then by all means dump them. There is no point in asking then arguing with every answer that is contrary to what you think

Take off your tinfoil hats people. There's been a lot of interesting speculation here about Lego manipulating the market with Machiavellian strategies. The Town Hall is retiring because it was the slow seller of the theme and that is that. For it's entire life it sat on the shelf at $200, right next to the beautiful Grand Emporium, the fun Pet Shop, the romantic Parisian Restaurant - all of which were much cheaper, and were more emotionally attractive. Do you want to dream of having your own pet shop one day? ... or dream of having a bureaucratic job at City Hall? It was always peoples' 2nd or 3rd choice, so it didn't sell well. Mystery solved. I made a list of about 2 dozen "rare" part numbers for the TH (parts used in the TH which were unique, or shared by no more than 2 other sets). I was interested in the "eliminating rare parts" theory ... but even I don't buy it. If the Town Hall was a hot seller, it would still be available today. Eliminating a dozen or so part numbers is a small, small bonus for Lego, but in no way a deciding factor. A similar list of "rare" parts for the Detective's Office would have over 40 part numbers on it - many of which could have been substituted with more common parts... but obviously, the design team wanted "that certain shade of blue", or unique new hair on that minifigure... clearly part number proliferation is not a big concern for Lego. And resurrecting the Town Hall? That ship has sailed. Lego recognizes this "after death demand" for what it is. If they produced another batch, investors would snap them all up. If they went into full production, and continued to carry this model for another year or two, many investors would be very hesitant to buy more exclusives. They would be shooting themselves in the foot. Last year, Feb 4th, 2014 was Retirement Apocalypse Day... dozens of sets got their "Retired" tag that day, even though most had been gone for months. I expect TH will earn it's badge within the next few weeks.

Hey Guys! So a couple months ago i started the long painful process of brickbuilding the 10179. I had many of the parts already from having a very large collection of light gray pieces, and i had been starting to really see the imperfections and scale issues with my 7965 Falcon on display (granted it's not a display model by any means, but it was better than spending thousands for the 10179). 7965 was also the set that brought me out of the dark ages. After trying for month to get a used one on CL or Kijiji, i caved and decided to start. Once finished i realized it was much larger than i thought, and had trouble finding a spot to display it. When i finally did find a spot to display it flat; it really didn't seem to do it justice and i began researching other ways to go about displaying it. Typically i'd use 2x4 clear bricks to prop ships up into more interesting angles, but 10179 would just be too heavy for that. Sure enough there were a couple search results of people mounting it on the wall, and one specifically on YouTube that had it mounted in a way that gave it mobility by using a TV wall mount. I decided this is what i was going to go for vs. a static mount as it allowed it to move into many angles, and the user had a YouTube video with great images of what i'd have to do. This took a good few weeks to complete as there were countless issues that arose. The YouTube video does not give exact details, and finding similar/like parts he used wasn't possible. In the end my mount construction resembles his, but is certainly a bit different. While the 10179 has a very strong inner frame; there are many parts i had to reinforce with more technic liftarms and even rubber bands (i'm looking at you rear underside section). I do believe i was able to find close to the exact same mount he used, but my brackets and the LEGO part of it have been constructed differently. I also added an RGB strip to the back engines to add some flare And no it has not fallen yet haha, but i do check it every so often to see if anything is bending/giving. The first night of it being up i was dreaded of being woken up by a terrifying crash I intend to paint the LED power cord the same colour as the wall to hide it. Anyways i thought some of you might be interested in seeing it. YES. take the offer and run. this set hasn't appreciated much lately. it hit a ceiling after the JP sets were announced). nice set design though... I sold mine for $220 w/ postage last last July) and the new JP sets will decrease demand for this.

Yep, it just takes that long for them to catch up. I learned the hard way. I bought a couple full price Cargo Trains and Summer Riding Camps at this time of year a couple years ago, thinking they may not return. Not again...

I'm interersted to see this set--if it's cool I'll get one for my own collection and incorporate my Funhouse into somehow. Based on the descriptions so far it doesn't sound like it has a coaster, which is basically what the Funhouse is . . .

He does have the Gorilla Striker. I have a few Fire Phoenix Temple sets I bought at Meijer. I haven't sprung that on him yet. The wife was throwing out a "NO MORE TOYS!" moratorium last night and I expect her to picket soon.

My son wanted to spend his birthday money yesterday, so he went over to Toys 'R Us and picked out the 70147 - Sir Fangar's Ice Fortress. We built it last night and it's another awesome Chima set. The ice bridge and ice gate are bad @ss.

I tend to stay away from sets that have lagerdamage. No lager should be wasted on damaging a LEGO carton

What is a massive failure to you? Many bought at $99 or $150? I just sold five of my $99 sets on amazon for $290. If that is a fail then I guess I am doing it wrong. This was a ship with very little screen time in the movies. I don't think anyone was expecting falcon or ISD performance.

With polybags, I'm asking since there are two prices on USPS. Have anyone used "Large Envelope" pricing and got caught? Do everyone just use the "Package" pricing which is more expensive? I imagine polybags can't pass the number 3 test on the USPS website. Thanks for the help. So i finally finished my 10030, but ended up not making it %100 authentic. Some of the original light gray pieces and rare pieces not included in the bulk buy were just getting so expensive and i wasn't sure i wanted to throw too much money at this given it was looking like it would take a lot of work to wall mount. After many weeks of tinkering and testing i have determined it just won't really work or look good mounted vertically. The inner frame is not nearly as strong as the 10179, and most of it's construction will be difficult to assure it can withstand a vertical position. Many more technic beams and liftarms will be needed, and new construction to keep the large side panels on (the magnets are pretty poor). Added to that is the fact that the ship doesn't look all that great mounted vertically like the 10179. So i just finished the build with some substitute parts (mostly on the inside). I'm really not sure if i want to keep it at this point. It takes up sooo much room. I've had it listed on kijiji for an inflated amount, but got no interest. Obviously the fact that it's not %100 authentic will do that, but i figured i'd get low-ballers! I might put it up for trade here and see if someone wants to finish where i started, or keep it for themselves! However shipping this beast from Canada to elsewhere will cost an arm and a leg. Nonetheless the build was fun and i don't regret attempting it as this really is a beautiful set. It's just a shame it takes up so much space while on display (i wasn't entirely surprised by this though). Anyways here are a few pics: 10179 still going strong no structural bending/warping, and no terrifying sounds of Lego crashing in the night haha.

Our five year old twins built Trevi Fountain this weekend. They love filmmaking and this is their third stop-motion video, but the first they have done with very little assistance!

Not to be Debbie Downer but after working a professional job for a few years you will look back and say "wow, I had a lot of free time in college". Enjoy the experience my man and do not rush it.

I've never seen clearance on Lego at my local superstore. 10-15% off the cheap stuff, no big sets either. It's not so much the store as it is the people that shop there. EVERY time I go my blood is boiling by the time I leave... People with 30 items in express, carts in the middle of aisles you can't get by, people parking their carts to the side only to shop on the other side blocking everyone... I have had my cart rammed at least twice over the years. I was shocked the first time, second time that person got an earful. My blood is heating up just thinking about it!!

Tax in WA takes a bite out of the deal for sure. Bike Shop and Cafe is the best deal I think. If you see Simpsons figs they are still on sale for $3.49 so come out to about $3 each after tax which is decent. Not a ton on sale to stack though unfortunately. Some Freddies had Cargo Trains for $160 a couple of weeks back, but probably really hard to find one with two in stock at this point.

I hate calling people at home and hate it even more when strangers call me at home. I let the auto NPB system opens and closes a NPB ticket for me. If the buyer really wants the item, multiple reminders from eBay would remind them about the item. 80% of the time they do not pay and I block those people from ever buying from me again.

Record Store Day is in April and is when the releases can only be found at independent record stores and places like Best Buy and Target do NOT get these releases. I don't know which part of the country you live in but here is a website with a store locator. http://www.recordstoreday.com Your best bet is to call ahead and put your name down on a list or unfortunately eBay is the only other way and the prices for these things on eBay get out of control. I am going to put in an order for several of them and see what happens - if I am fortunate enough to purchase several I would certainly be happy to help another BP out who wants one.

Couple more thoughts, we lose another competitor, a fairly major one, though I suppose Targets` impact is now debatable. Walmart does extremely well here in Canada, how they thought they could just move up and compete with poor infrastructure like this is beyond. What`s worse is Target actually has some very good real estate locations, and I mean that. They have several spots that I`ve visited or know of that are really quite good. They would have done in all likelihood very well up here, but a series of extreme changes needed to be made, and they needed to have done that before opening 133 stores which they could not properly manage or supply. Anyone up here who bought clearance deals from Target, and I have as well on my travels (have visisted 15+ stores personally across the country) knows that feeling of getting a great "American type" deal here in Canada. Like 50% or more, which happens so rare to us up here. Agreed very much you guys. Just serves to show that they tried to offer what they do in the States but completely failed at how they should go about doing that. Anyway, we can now do what we did a few years ago. At least Amazon.ca has come into play as well in the last couple years will Lego, they`ve had some serious clearance deals already (50, 60, 75%) though some of those sets were useless investments.
