  1. On Amazon: 1/7/15 66 sellers, lowest price $323.99 ONE WEEK LATER (TODAY) 1/14/15 48 sellers, lowest price $399.99 + 8.49 shipping IMO, this will easily be a $500 set by next Christmas (2015).

  3. Even if they did stop production on previous WV sets, I'd wager this would be the first to "sell out" in between production runs. That's Gold Jerry!

  4. Yeah, it was so popular last year that FAO Schwarz was giving away the $80 7347 Highway Pickup Truck with a purchase of the Palace Cinema to entice people into buying them.

  5. Please use a more muscular image in referring to me in the future. Thanks. The irony Is I was in honors English and advanced writing classes throughout school life. I can write very well. But, I'm way too lazy to do so on here, or in text. Seems like a lot of work.

  8. Its hard to believe Lego is telling a few people that the Pet Shop will be out 1-2 more years, end of 2015 it will be out over 4 years,I see the Pet Shop retiring sometime this year and I don't think that the Cinema Palace is done this year, that will make that set a little over 2 years, and its still sells very well.

  9. I agree with runormal too many windows on the toy shop and a false roof. It just looks and feels cheap. I prefer the beach hut it has a nice roof and some neat display features. I would recommend picking this one up on sale to build.

  10. I know it's not a highly talked about line here, but the master builder academy sets seem to be done for. 2 of the 5 in the series are on the official 'retiring soon' page. All 5 of them have been out of stock on LEGO Shop at Home for some time. I bought the entire collection for my kid this past year. They might not be the best dollar per brick value, but they're nicely done sets. I also picked up a couple in the wild (Barnes and Noble is the only place I could find them) to keep for investment. I have a feeling these could be a sleeper, especially in the non-US areas where these weren't ever available.

  13. Miracles do happen.. 4 TH from TRU order place early AM on 1/10 actually shipped today.. Was waiting on cancellation like the last ones I caught but this time they shipped. Am I concerned there is only one tracking number? Maybe just a little.. Also, received all my Rovers today. Seals older than my previous batch, all 51S3. No new run, sorry.

  14. I thought that surely, with a Star Wars movie coming out, Lego wouldn't discontinue the set they have with one of the most iconic Star Wars character's in it (r2d2) but they did. Now I am done with the f5game. if it's been out for a while, and I like it, I am buying it. If I hold it for a while, well, at least I have time to acquire them with discount giftcards and the like as opposed to f5ing for retail. And the fact that everything else has restocked, but this hasn't, scares me.

  16. If you missed it in another thread, here is my war story knowledge I learned flipping polybags (the other seller is the master and I'm the padawan, but I am learning) If you are selling multiples of the same item (RR poly) you can do the following: Set your preferences so that you can quantity remain at zero (with selling set price using good till cancelled option). You can then sell at a lower than you want price 2 or 3 sales, this will get you on the radar and get people following your auction. You then can raise your price to where you want it to be and it will still show that you have sold 2 or 3 (but doesn't show lower price). You are now down showing "last one" because you only listed a handful. People use their panic and buy your last one at that price. Once it sells, just revise auction to quantity of 1 and you are once gain selling your "last one" This only works on good till cancelled auctions and only if you change your setting to allow it Hope that helps someone here Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Brickpicker mobile app

  18. o yeah, also got the one off Brick Classifields last night for $350. I'm convinced on this set, and going to try to get 20 of these. I have a long ways to go...should've started last month =/

  19. I have 4 TRUs in my city, but they are pretty much worthless when it comes to polys and hot ticket items. it seems like they always dont know anything about it and then hold it later for the employees to buy to ebay it. theyve flat out said it to my friends and I with no regard for store policy. its pretty funny. also, there is this guy who gives kickbacks to one particular toys r us in my city and the store manager holds items for him. its crazy. p.s. we call the guy bad santa because he has red hair and glasses.

  21. OMG the beach set does close to form a hut ??? This changes everything, I thought it was a tiny playset with two walls, and that's it ! My interest in this set has gone from zero to over 9,000 !

  22. I'm also in the group that believes that TH should appreciate well. The absolute majority of buyers from resellers are people who didn't buy back when a set was commonly available. And the surprisingly small time frame means that comparably few people bought it from regular retailers, thus increasing the number of aforementioned potential buyers. Historically, being a modular set alone has been reason enough to receive nice gains. The target audience is among those with the highest liquidity / willingness to spend, And this one has everything going, neat looks, attention to detail, biggest modular of the whole series, unique concept, low supply stocks. Of course it's very hard to give reliable predictions for the value at a given future date. But unless there's some drastic unforseen event, I'd be very surprised if prices won't rise steeply.

  23. Ok sure. I think you guys are just bored now that the holiday shopping season is over. But don't let me spoil your fun.

  24. I think you could see both the palace cinema and pet shop stick around longer. The $150 price point compared to the new $160 modular sets makes the more affordable.

  26. The Tower Bridge is entirely repetitive, but I still had fun building that. And honestly, it's not the building that I'm interested in. It's the entire model itself. I build and display all my Legos, and I already have the SOH, and TB, and really want to build this set.

  27. It was just to show the kind of price curve the TH could have within the next 2 years (before climbing in value again). You also can't compare the TH with the CC or the GG for a lot of reasons (number of investors, theme under the radar, etc.) Lots of TH have been sold a high price on ebay, but also some did not sold this week for

  35. Depends on your goals I think. If you bought it with Christmas promos a couple of years ago, and essentially can double your money right now, can't argue with that. If you hold it longer, I still think it will appreciate further, although I am less confident than I was 6 months ago. Thinking through the same decision myself. I will say if you are going to sell, it is advantageous to do so on eBay where you can use the Global Shipping Program.

  36. We already do have something to handle this. Its the Variations tab that you see when listing a product. This is here for those that may want to list parts. That is why I have a bunch of the part colors already listed in there in their different categories. Then there are a few CUSTOM attributes there for people that may want to sell items like you or many some clothes, etc. We will continue to fine tune it, but it does already exist. It also allows for different pricing for each item as well as quantity management. So you can say I have 10 red ones at $5.00 each and then I have 100 Blue ones at $4.00 each, etc. You can also list sets this way. You may have 100 #10188 Death Stars. You can use this to breakout conditions. 50 maybe MISB, 20 may not have a box or no minifigures, etc. Then people can select what they want and it will allow you to set the different prices.

  37. I too have seen open minifig packets (Simpsons) at Target, some just opened to see which one it is, and a few empty packs too. Made me feel guilty, as I was feeling then up to get my last one (Nelson). I managed to get em all with no doubles. People tend to look at you strange when you are a grown man fondling Lego packets.

  38. Built this set last week and agree that it's very nice. We have it displayed on our mantle. I hope there's another version with some new birds coming soon. For everyone with cats please give them a big hug when you get home today. We just learned today our youngest (<2 yrs old) has FIP and may only have a week to live. We had no idea this was coming other than that she wasn't her usual self the last few weeks until I took her into the vet today. It puts Lego investing and other issues much into perspective.

  40. God bless these guys for wanting to deal with this and some of you. It is a brand new site and only open a few days and I see one guy throwing a hissy fit that there is no guest mode, then another one shoving it in their face of "too bad you won't get my listings now" instead of offerering to something like "Hey, having an issue with paypal, I will work with you to troubleshoot it" I think it looks great and so far so good for me. I will be listing some sets very soon. I had no issue with paypal or the simple registration process.

  42. It will be surprising this set goes this fast out and will really catch a lot of people off guard. Definitely a good set, a corner one of awesome design! Not sure if it's just holiday shortage or what. We'll see. I didn't even see one at my LEGO store last weekend when I went there. If it's out and PS is going, LEGO only has two modulars out? hmmm... I will bet they're smarter.
    1 point
  43. I know the feeling with the modulars. My wife has all of them built except the first 3. GG, CC, and MS. I would absolutely love to own those 3 sets, but the aftermarket price is just beyond stupid for those sets. I might try to find a used set for them, but I doubt it. They are sooo awesome all linked together. I can't wait to see what the next modular is going to be.

  48. I use a mild laundry detergent, get a plastic tub/bin/drawer/whatever, pour a cap's worth of solution in there, fill it with warm water (same temp you use for washing your own hands), put all the Lego parts in there, swirl em' around for a bit to mix it all up, then let them sit for a day or two at least (maybe more if you think they need it). Now get a strainer (try plastic cause metal can damage pieces if you're not careful) and pour them out into it allowing the water to drain while catching the parts. Let them dry and air out for a day or until done. They should smell better and be sanitized for your protection! This isn't for cigarette smoke specifically but the process I use to clean any Lego brick typically gets rid of any kind of stale smells and filth. However, it does usually make the parts smell 'lavendery' instead for a while though.
