If people knew more about LEGO Shop at Home then LEGO wouldn't have to rely on Amazon and other 3rd parties this much and have a greater degree of control over its supply and price. If people had more information this would actually be better for LEGO since they would buy directly from them, where they can also enforce purchase limits. I find it always funny when people are buying some (not this one now, since it's sold out) sets waaaay over MSRP on Amazon, ebay etc. when they are still available on LEGO Shop at Home. And I cant even say that this is because of high information costs since if you google a set the first hit is the LEGO site.

We may consider moving this thread to member-only.... especially if prices move up, and next wave does not show up

OK, I just received my package from Yo-Yo. When I open it, there are tons & tons of air bubbles. At the bottom of the box is my order of 10 Mixels. While they arrived safely & I'm grateful for that. The box seems a little too big for 10 Mixels. So, let's see what would have fit appropriately in this box. Oh, here it is, Winter Market Village fits just fine & with enough room left over for the Mixels. No...not 1 WMV but 5! 5 WMV fit very comfortably in this box...

Totally off topic and has absolutely nothing to do with TH , LEGO or anything but you are one hell of a poster. Very intellectual and if I had to guess you have some background in writing. Your posts are very educated and I really do enjoy them. Others also must have the same feeling as you have a staggering close to 60% like per post rate (LPPR in case you were wondering, and yes that is completely made up but fitting with all the crazy abbreviations we have on this site). Most higher percentage posters (and generally likable people on this site) are in the 25-33% range. Anyways thanks for the great additions you bring to the site!

Modulars are only going one direction, up. Especially as more AFOL's discover how appealing the modular line is. Jaison is right- people are addicted to these things. I have twelve TH and can't think of a set in my collection I am more interested in holding for the very, very, very long term and treating with a "back burner" mentality. With every new outstanding mod introduced (ex: PR), the appeal of previous mod's is greatly strengthened. Who doesn't want a "complete" collection? IMO, we are still in the infancy phase of what the Modular line will draw to for AFOL's for years to come. Scarcity = $. Huge upside potential on the TH. It's doubtful TLG will ever produce another mod at this price point/piece-count based on the lack-luster sales this one produced (in spite of its outstanding aesthetic appeal). The investor/collector ratio greatly favors investors. All the ingredients needed for a long-term hold. Flip your bat caves. Hold the TH.

I had a pretty good craigslist score today. Bought the following used lot. All look to be complete upon first inspection. 10173 holiday train 4512 cargo train 6990 space monorail 6921 monorail accessory track 6211 imperial star destroyer 7823 container crane depot 4520 curved track (new/unopened) a huge tote of extra 9V train track all for the grand sum of $350. lot calculator shows a bp value of $1236, not including the extra tote of track. I am super stoked and cant wait to dig into this, but it wil probably have to wait until after the holidays since I have been so busy lately.

I had that on a couple of sets during 2xVIP in October. I didn't contact them and the sets were shipped soon after, so there is still hope.

Green Grocers for $1,500 5 years after retirement well that is perfectly OK and fine. But $70 for an Advent Calendar the year it came out - they may call you a gouger. I call you a friend. (or brother since I sold mine for $70 each too)

German site Promobricks.de posted the first leaked photos for the new Series They say the sources is the 2015 LEGO Catalog. Honestly, I have to say - I don't see a miss in here at all. On first glance, and for the first time, I think I really like all of these figures.

It is amazing how much the term 'price gouging' gets thrown around when people are butt hurt about prices they pay when not getting things bought early enough. The sets have been available since September. Price gouging doesn't exist - especially not with toys. It's the market at work. It's a voluntary transaction. It's not like you need Legos to survive, biologically speaking. What do we know about it? We're all just stone cold reseller scum, and our little black hearts only beat for profits. It's amazing how well I sleep at night. It must be all the extra cash I've been able to stuff in my pillow. ;)

Honestly, this is what LEGO hates. It's capitalism at its finest...or worst some would argue. I just wonder though how much negative feedback a company like Amazon will accept before they limit excessive pricing of items. Or maybe they are quite aware and just don't care.

i don't understand why people are venting at the prices.. they can vote with their wallet. if they believe that there is price gouging they should not buy it at all

Not sure if you are serious or not, but if you are..... TRU parking lot selling is not actually recommended, sort of a joke around here. Well, at least for some. Note, you will often see this practice mentioned with "hotcakes". They are not actually selling hotcakes. So when you hear about someone selling hotcakes out of their trunk at TRU, just move along... ; )

Whoah, that is hardcore! You are setting up shop outside a TRU?!? I would love to see how this works. Are you standing outside holding Legos? Are people skeptical? Anything you could tell me about how this plays out would be awesome.

Did my good deed for the season. Went by a couple of local TRU to check their stock on 75056. One was all out, the other had 1 hidden behind a Super Heroes sets. Saw a mother looking in the spot where the kept the calendars, she walked away. I picked it up, placed it on the shelf when I knew she was looking and walked away. Walked around the corner, turned around, and watched her quickly pick it up and rush to the counter. Hopefully me passing on this one, will translate to me selling my stock for profit.

I ordered 1 set Monday and 2 yesterday from Lego Shop. Both orders said shipped. I'm excited to get them. I do have to give my son 1 for Christmas though. Pains me to see him open a set that could be worth a lot in the upcoming months. But, they are for the kids after all!!

No, you misunderstand. I was selling this year's set in August for $70. All because people *had* to have it in their hot little hands. I knew full well that they'd be everywhere in another month. But, if someone wants to be impatient, and they want to pay me for their impatience, I'm happy to take their money.

Now this is a pretty fine series. There's of course the obligatory space trooper and space alien, but there are some amazing figures here. Unfortunately it looks like the only new accessory is the saw, which is great. Hot Dog guy is fabulous, the Orc will be great to add to LotR/Hobbit setups(I know I will), excellent printing on the evil wizard's cape. Too bad the snake charmer's flute wasn't printed ala Harry Potter flute. Egyption is spot on, too. I'm really liking this series.

Ship using PayPal shipping via Canada Post - there is a modest discount still. You can also join the Canada Post Venture One programme free of charge, for the same discounts + it will allow you to use features & add-ons (like signature verifications) that aren't always available on some of the options presented through PayPal (like shipping item values over $1000.oo). The VIP programme will also give you access to receive free materials delivered right to your door - labels, fragile stickers, air-mail/express post stickers etc. every once & awhile you can get free packing slip pouches & envelopes too but these are kinda random. If you are shipping items that you want to put significant insurance on, use only new (1st-use) boxes & not used grocery store castaways. It will help expedite the claim if you need it for "damaged in transit" - you'll need to tell the investigator that you followed the CP shipping guide on points like shipped in a new shipping box, 200lb crush weight, item packaged with 4 inches of padding all around the sides and top/bottom, no other marking or barcodes were on the box. - they can & will deny a claim for damaged in shipping if the box was not a shipping class box or was previously used (CP recognises 1st-use only as valid shipping materials - even though they will accept a taped up cereal box at the counter!) order your materials in bulk from places like U-line or Staples Industrial (not the big red store). check your local town for small supply companies that buy in bulk from these place as well if you don't want to maintain an inventory of boxes yourself or haven't the space. Here in Ottawa there are several small box companies - I like Prichards Packaging - they warehouse pretty much everything you need & ship materials from Toronto every Thursday. Storage Locker rental lots often have box sales as well when they get overstocked. Also check out Party/Wedding/supply stores - they often have may shipping supply options too.

Amazon should delete these complaints. It's supposed to be a review of the product there. People can ***** about the price in the forums.

Off topic, too... but very kind words, and thanks a ton. I am on month four of serious Lego investing after being a very long term fan of Lego, all the way back to my Space Train which was sold at a Garage Sale in Tallahassee, FL fifteen + years ago (decision #4/2,182 of my "Top Regrettable Personal Decisions" list). I have learned an incredible amount from the site, and am proud to begin contributing more. What more could we ask for... an opportunity to connect/engage with a great group of people, and make money in the meantime?

I have to admit I thought the Birds end product would be lame. Now, thanks to the box and the printed nameplates, I love it. Looks fantastic.

To me, the Birds set takes LEGO to another level. It is a classy and informative set that teaches as well as entertains. I think people get too wrapped up in PPP and other typical LEGO barometers. This is a small UCS set IMO. Great job and investment

The sets that make people drop their jaws are not under $100 either, mostly because of their size, I don't know what you expect. For $45 this is nice.

This is an unspeakable tragedy. I retract any commentary ever made regarding a UCS KM. Austrailia: you are due for something; anything new/exciting. A Dingo hasn't eaten anything newsworthy in a long, long time.

You can absolutely do deals like this outside eBay, but do not use the eBay messaging system to make them. Basically, if you have something listed on eBay and you or the buyer try to take that deal off eBay, that's a violation of the agreement you made with eBay (and, in my mind, totally tacky besides -- eBay found you that buyer for that deal, they deserve their cut.) HOWEVER, once you have sold something to an eBay customer, there's nothing wrong with you or that customer contacting each other OFF eBay (like using the email address you have for him thru PayPal) to make a separate deal that has nothing to do with an existing eBay listing. eBay may have introduced the two of you via the first deal, but that doesn't mean they own the both of you for all new deals going forward.

As far as I can tell, here are the "rules" for modern Lego Trains: There will be two motorized play sets in production at any given time: one introductory and one advanced. For the past several iterations the introductory set has always been a passenger train, and the advanced set has always been a cargo train. There is generally one motorizable train in production for AFOL train fans. The most recent of these have been Emerald Night, Maersk Train, Horizon Express. Themed sets may contain a train independent of the above rules. Hogwarts Express, Constitution Train Chase, and Ghost Train are the most recent examples. These will start and end along with the rest of their theme. Accessory sets like train stations and crossings seem to be related at introduction to the "core" introductory and advanced sets, but EOL is harder to predict. For example, 7936 went out EOL unexpectedly. Parts sets like tracks and switches seem to be effectively immortal. For Duplo Trains there are generally three in production at any given time: A basic motorized set with engine, one car, simple track, and a few bricks. Examples: 10507, 5608, 3771. An advanced motorized set with engine, two cars, advanced track, extra play features: Examples: 10508, 5609, 3772 A push train: Examples: 10558,5506,3770 Themed Duplo trains are less common than themed Lego trains, but they do happen. Examples: Toy Story, Thomas

Although they're both in the same price bracket you can't compare apples with oranges. The VW first of all is a lego creator theme, the other one is technic. They also appeal to completely opposite people/builders/characters. One of them is for people who just like building general stuff out of bricks, the other is for car nerds and petrol heads. One is cute, the other is serious because race cars are serious. The 42000 is also linked to Motorsport and would appeal to boys into cars, adult car guys...and Technic fans in general. While the VW may even be bought by some old lady who has no interest into cars, but the camper van reminds her of the old days when she was a hipster and travelled around Europe with no care listening to the Mamas & Papas etc ... They're both great but targeted to completely different customers...
