  1. Hi Guys, Here's a MOD I did on 31026. Most talk about this set is it's size and lack of it. But it's actually quite versatile. I noticed that buying multiple copies of this set is one way to go on expanding it but I decided to work with one set and multiple pick-a-brick sessions. It was a fun process. I like this set and so does my kid, he just has a modular version of it now. Hope you guys like it.

  2. All stated below in one lowly BP'er's opinion, but... The SOP shares this with TH: It is big. It is expensive. It has been a slow seller. And, for retail shelf space and retail storage space prerequisites, this thing is a monster. Also, think about the appeal of the set; it doesn't take much to appreciate the aesthetic beauty of the Tower Bridge, Taj Mahal, etc. Imagine Lego putting out a Seven Wonders of the World set, Roman Colliseum, etc.- with true universal appeal. Big pieces and prices would not stall many from purchasing, were they serious admirers of those relics (of which there are many). The SOP isn't at that level. I would rather have a 4,000+ piece 7-Eleven, Slurpee machine and all, than this set. Last week while at the Pick-a-Brick counter of my local Lego store, I blind-folded myself and grabbed seventeen handfuls of beige and white brick pieces. Using just these blocks, I was able to replicate the Lego SOP with a statistically-significant 93.567% accuracy equivalent (P value of <.05). Should TLG have wished to honor the fine country of Australia, they should have (I have said it before and will say it again), done a UCS Kylie Minogue. But who cares about the aesthetic/artistic appeal of one Lego collector? Would this piece adorn my Lego display section? No. Will it be included in my investment portfolio? Yes. Like the TH, the more elusive the set disappearing, the more lowly the QTY stocked by fellow investors, the more iconic the set (regardless of its artistic monotony from one collector's perspective), the greater the likelihood of post-EOL appreciation. This set will always have an interested audience to some degree. When Harry Potter hype fades, and when no one really cares about Lord Business's lair in many, many years, there will always be some Aussie or tourist who saw Crocodile Dundee Live at the SOP and must have this set. It is an extremely significant historic building. There will be a long-lasting demand for it. And thus, it will be allotted its appropriate space in my Lego investing portfolio.

  3. Hi, I added this biggest modular set to my collection and also this is the biggest building stop motion I ever made. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o946y_SLJ9g

  6. Oh, the mockery! Ordered 10 RIs the other day from TRU. shipped in two packages: 5 and 5 (presumably). One did have 5 RIs The other had this. Serioulsy TRU? some wise-butt was doing the packing? And now selling the other 5 RIs at TRU parking lot?

  12. Noticed something interesting and thought i'd share it. Town hall looks like the BIG winner lately over the likes of say, Grand Emporium since Town Hall is $330 on Amazon and GE is just 250, but remember that GE cost 50 less. I ran a quick calculation over 4 of the recently disappeared sets, against a $3200 investment (i corrected for the investment differences after profits) and the Town Hall is actually only 4th best of the bunch. In fact, its only beating out R2D2, and many folks aren't even convinced that one is done. Haunted House is currently king based on Amazon prices as of right now. Cost Qty Spent Price Total Grand Emporium $ 150 21 $ 3,150 $ 250 $ 5,250 +50 = $5,300 Town Hall $ 200 16 $ 3,200 $ 330 $ 5,280 = $5,280 R2D2 $ 180 18 $ 3,240 $ 280 $ 5,040 -40 = $5,000 Haunted House $ 180 18 $ 3,240 $ 365 $ 6,570 -40 = $6,530 SSD $ 400 8 $ 3,200 $ 785 $ 6,280 = $6,280

  15. IMO the only problem of Sydney Opera House is that the Tower Bridge is still available. TB is almost $100 cheaper and has 1300 more pieces. That is what the average consumer thinks.

  19. I still can't understand TBBT was picked and produced. I like the show but I don't find this 'epic' enough to justify making a set of this.

  20. The sets that make people drop their jaws are not under $100 either, mostly because of their size, I don't know what you expect. For $45 this is nice.

  21. Probably the last chance to get the TH & GE in Australia at a reasonable price. Love how they label the GE as new.

  22. Better yet - how they each had 3 SGEs in the cart at Target, and manager was chasing them down all over the store to tell that the limit is 2. Pew, pew! Woosh, woosh... throat hugs....

  24. I get this story about 1-2 times a week. Just cancel. Its funny because for once I would like someone to just say "I don't want it now" rather than make up some retarded story using no punctuation. In reality, you just made a snap decision. According to your story, you are a bad parent. lol.

  25. I just had to cancel a transaction on multiple RR polys last week. The two things that bothered me at the time is one the buyer did not respond to my communication. So I was stuck holding them as the price dropped. I had to open a case in order to cancel the transaction and two they were selling multiples of the same item. This is a seller with over 2,500 feedback at 100%. I didn't block the buyer instead i made a lowball offer on a nice retired set they had listed and they accepted.

  26. Yeah, it does happen from time to time, but make sure you do block the buyer like dcdfan said.

  27. After recently building both the Pet Shop and Town Hall, I would have to say that the Pet Shop is my least favorite Modular next to the Market Street. The Pet Shop really is subpar and needs to be replaced. Very boring and basic. A good filler set.

  28. I've had this a couple of times before myself (minus them selling the same item), I eventually got annoyed with it after I had a couple of buyers tell me that they wanted it price matched (after purchasing) or I didn't realise I had to pay for it, I thought I could change my mind. Anyway, long story short, I think that you can either raise a dispute and go with what happens, or just cancel the transaction. Personally, I would cancel the transaction and claim back your fees, you don't want to be raking up the neg feedback early on.

  32. thats was I paid too. Found 1 at $9 but the other dozen or so were all $19. The one place that had it at $9 had a 4432 Garbage Truck, 60016 Tanker and one of the RV Campers at $9 also. Was very random stuff.

  35. My local Targets never clearanced the Cargo Truck, and the best price I saw was $29.99 at Walmart. I wished that I got the Cargo Truck for 50% off at Target along with the Cargo Terminal. I think those two would sell well together in the future.

  37. The Tumbler is an UCS, whether it has the designation or not. Neither SSD or the Imperial Shuttle has it. In fact LEGO began to label the new SW exclusives "UCS" again because so many people were referring to them like that. Any unplayable, detailed big vehicle sets are UCS to me, whether LEGO cares to use the label or not. The Tumbler qualifies.
