  1. Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I'm truely a LEGO fan:) Here is one of my recent work based on Marvel Super Heroes theme, and hope you guys enjoy it! For more details, please check the link below. If you like the model, please give your support. Thanks a lot! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/85922 THE STORY The project features the scene from the movie Captain America: The First Avenger. Red Skull is escaping in his flying-wing with the cosmic cube, and Captain America is chasing him, but he is losing his target. Thanks to Peggy Carter and Colonel Chester Phillips, who come with Red Skull's roadster for help! After kissing Peggy goodbye, the mighty Captain jumps onto the aircraft from the roadster and saves the day! THE FLYING-WING The flying-wing is built mainly with dark grey, light grey, black and some dark red bricks. The front cockpit can open and fit one minifig, probably Red Skull himself. The back cockpit can also open, where Red Skull place the cosmic cube. THE ROADSTER The roadster is built with black and dark red bricks, and can fit two minifigures comfortably. Peggy and Colonel Chester Phillips are driving the luxurious car, although it is Red Skull's ride. For more details of the roadster, please refer to this link (including the car model from real bricks): https://ideas.lego.com/projects/83538/updates THE MINIFIGS This project includes four minifigs: Captain America, Red Skull, Peggy Carter and Colonel Chester Phillips. As for the accessories: Captain America is holding his shield; Red Skull has a big gun in one hand and the cosmic cube in the other; Peggy and the Colonel are both holding a pistol. All four minifigs have custom decals on their heads and torsos. Thank you all for viewing!

  2. I remember reading on the forum some time ago a comment that "you are not an investor until you actually sell some of your lego. Until then you are simply a collector". I have been "collecting" lego now for about 12 months. Like a lot of people I am very much focused on the larger more exclusive sets as long term investments, however, a long the way I have picked up a number of freebies with purchases, such as the elf workshop and some polybags. I also purchased some of the original minecrafts sets with a few to trying to flip some around Christmas. Anyway I decided to list some of the freebies and minecraft in the lead up to Christmas, on Ebay. It has been a great buzz starting to make some sales ( I get a "chi-ching" noise on my phone app every time!) and actually starting to see that some money coming in. I managed to sell a mine craft box set of the 4 originals for

  4. yes free shipping, have to nowadays to be competitive. $60-5.40 ebay - 1.50 pp - $8 average to ship = $45 Paid anywhere from $23-30 for the ones sold so far. So rougly $19 profit each. In volume it adds up well. Had I had them I could of sold approx 100-150 yesterday alone (based on how many I sold per hour). So yes it was worth the time. 1 listing and multiple sales without doing anything (other than buying the product over the last few months) and packing them which is very simple for these. The next batches will be sold higher as I have higher cost. I do not hold out for the very last rush on all products. First off its risky. Prices are never guaranteed to reach a certain level. They usually do but its not 100%. Secondly I don't like to be the one that sells that much bulk at $80 or so. You can run into more returns / possibly disgruntled customers from buyer remorse of paying $80 for a $40 set. At $60 your customers are happy as they didn't have to hunt around for it. Sure I'll sell some at the higher rates but prefer to do it this way.

  6. Sold 9476 Orc Forge that I purchased at $30 for $150 + shipping. Probably my best ROI yet. It just about pays for my R2 I bought yesterday. Very Happy .

  7. diversification is also good when you want to achieve a high selling throughput...it's easier to unload a couple of different sets than the same amount of the same set...

  8. EBay w/ free shipping, which is nice selling 5 Dynamic Duos to the same buyer. Just cutting my stock down and shifting some of those $$$ over to exclusives. I turned a $100 profit on them, or more.

  10. Awesome! Lego should offer you a job immediately as their prime Super Heroe designer. I will vote for you when I come home tonight.

  11. I agree. Every little bit helps. When Jeff changed the homepage the other day and we changed the eBay feed, a whole page of knockoff Superhero minifigures popped up. 40 for $40!!! Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference from the pictures and I guarantee there are a ton of Mom and Dads that are buying these for their kids instead of the real ones.

  14. You can't play the game like that, at least not in my opinion. Because when that one set does become the next winner? Yeah, you've only got two of them because you're so diverse. I played that game at first, and I've got a garage full of onesies/twosies that I'm slowly chipping away at. R2-D2 is a good example for me. I have no doubt it will be a winner. I have no doubt that people that are picking it up are a making a wise investment. But, I have zero in my stock. Because I can't buy everything. There are other sets that I've decided to focus on. Don't spread yourself too thin.

  16. Ed and I want to create a page here in the forum (or somewhere) that will allow anyone who has an eBay and/or Amazon store to create a banner ad and advertise their store during the holiday season. Just PM me with a 728x90 banner and any small message about possible deals that you might be offering. Also make sure you include a link to your store and store name if there is one. If you want to include your Brickpicker name, let me know, otherwise I will keep it anonymous. This can be a good way for you to bring some new life to your store and get your holiday season sales off to a good start.

  17. OMG this trailer is amazing!!! Cate (my favorite actress of today) is awesome as a villain. Don't forget Brickpickers, this film featured Cate and Helena....the only female film stars to have two minifigures each in their likeness!!! (Cate Blanchett: Irina Spalko, Galadriel; Helena Bonham Carter: Bellatrix and Redd Harrington)

  22. I already have one I bought as a XMas present for my son. I was able to get a Tie Prototype and Phantom on BOGO 40% off w/ Saturday 10% gift card day. The LEGO Tie Prototype will be out next year. I offloaded half of my 9492 stash for $100 each on EBay and I have the other half listed at $120 right now. I only paid $24.50 each for them, but I wish I would have picked up the other 40 I left behind at that price.

  29. Different story when you're only spending virtual money though. And you don't have to actually sell the sets. Obviously to win, you just have to pick the best performing set and go all in. I like some diversification to a point, though almost all my buys are large box exclusives. With a variety of sets, you're attracting a wider number of potential customers, and could reasonably expect a more efficient cashflow. With one set, you're only going to draw customers looking for that particular set.

  30. Ummm, heck yeah I would! Especially when you know a set might only be around 6 months vs. another 3 years.

  35. Well... you don't know what actually will be smart in the future so PoP could have been smart ^.^ (though it wasn't! *****) The smartest investor will get sets that are: -not hoarded -way cheaper than the retail price -will invest in a lot of different sets that work according to his investment strategy -are winners in the future (what you cannot predict 100%) the last part at least is gambling/highly speculative, though you can try to find patterns etc. to invest as smart as possible. In defense for Pop: -there has been a movie (normally that's not too bad... but the movie flopped...) -the game is highly popular and well known (though it's fans probably/obviously are not all LEGO fans as well ;-) ) -the sets and minifigs actually have been pretty neat (which is the strongest point) after the sets flopped (for some obvious reasons, especially the movie ^.^ and probably also that it didn't really fit with other LEGO themes) all sets have been available for a BIG discount so if some people speculated on these sets, thinking that they won't be hoarded, are available for quite some discount and fans might want to have them in the future since PoP itself is not unpopular, then I do get the thinking behind it. I myself didn't buy any, but I bought some Lone Ranger sets, because those are really nice AND I always loved the western theme. The movie was bad and I don't think that many people care for Lone Ranger but the western theme with really nicely made sets still had some strong points for me. Probably these have been bad investments, but still I speculated on them for before mentioned reasons. If these don't work out for me I'll still love them and build them myself. which actually is one of my key strategies; buying sets that you'd love to build yourself. So of course it is easy to say "haha how could you invest in Prince of Persia? You deserve to burn for it!" AFTER you really know the outcome. But to me this approach is to easy(-minded).

  36. If you're stupid enough to invest all your money into Prince of Persia sets then you deserve to crash and burn. Whereas investing all your funds into a key exclusives like modulars, Campervans or Tumblers would almost guarantee excellent returns.

  41. Fire brigade's for 119.00 on Amazon for an entire year was better then tb deal. Something I see posted here and talked about quite often is '' I got this set to diversify my portfolio '' I think that's kind of silly. Would you rather have 1 of all these random sets or have nothing but hh or ssd. I personally am really narrowing my picks down in regards to the long haul. Mark Cuban said diversifying a portfolio is stupid. And he rules.

  43. Did my good deed for the season. Went by a couple of local TRU to check their stock on 75056. One was all out, the other had 1 hidden behind a Super Heroes sets. Saw a mother looking in the spot where the kept the calendars, she walked away. I picked it up, placed it on the shelf when I knew she was looking and walked away. Walked around the corner, turned around, and watched her quickly pick it up and rush to the counter. Hopefully me passing on this one, will translate to me selling my stock for profit.

  44. this set is rubbish except for some minifigure rarities. its designed to distract parents from buying the batcave and family house which are the picker uppers. city museum break in reeks of clearance rack potential so staying away from that too. this is just the (weak) opening salvo. there will be more deals coming up - especially if amazon goes crazy and then you can go and get your walmart to price match with no limits since its been widely reported in the financial news media that walmart managers have been instructed by corporate to match amazon.

  46. I just realized that the set represents a scene from the movie Wolverine Origins (when wolverine jumps on a helicopter thanks to an old-style motorcyle). Fun to see that it may have been obvious for a lot of person except me. ^^'
