  1. Brickpicker has probably aged me by 10 years Brickpicker has made me gain like 20 lbs Brickpicker has made my wife constantly say, 'you love that website more than you love me' etc, etc, etc...

  3. Bought these today at a local Mom & Pop Pharmacy that is finally running a 20% off sale on their toy stock. Tie Fighter - $43.99 Jabba's Palace - $95.99 Friends: Adventure Camper x 2 - $27.99 Friends: Cool Convertible - $11.99 I'm going to post some pictures of the rest of the stock in the "Deal or No Deal" forum to get some opinions on what else I should pick-up tomorrow. Thanks...

  4. The bigger picture is these sets aren't about the money: They are priced at $19.99 specifically because they felt it would be a price higher than anyone would be willing to pay - they weren't meant to be sold until after the promotion (if at all). A few people buying out stores early in the promo leads to customers going to the store, finding out they couldn't get the promo, and all it takes is a couple complaints to corporate to get balls like this rolling. Or a manager raising an eyebrow when someone comes in and asks to buy $1000 worth of a theoretically minor giveaway item - and talks to someone at corporate about it. Drawing attention in any way like this leads to changes and people looking into what's going on. Obviously, I have no inside info, but having worked in retail in the past, I imagine these scenarios are both very possible.

  5. Brickpicker has been the source of everything I know regarding LEGO basically. I would have missed out on basically every deal I have got since I started without BP.

  8. Yeah, but what else are they good for being specifically 2014 Bricktober sets? Buying out the store at $19.99 each is still good money for LEGO and/or TRU.

  9. Don't feel sorry. It's upto every investor to regularly check stock availability. I mean, I bought way before this 'incident' happened and just extended my stock with 2 but the majority of TH, I had already bought. One should be prepared and not wait until others feed them the info.

  10. Being marked "retired" by LEGO S@H is for the novices out there...just like "retiring soon." It just confirms something that is already apparent to the experienced resellers out there.

  11. A trimming of exclusives is a reasonable choice, if they release them at the current rate the supply will be just choking. It is already choking. I predict they will also slow down a little and release them ~every 2 months. We don't need this many at once. An average LEGO collector just can't keep up. Regarding the end of modulars I believe that is unlikely. Why? Because there exist more marginal exclusives that don't sell as well, I don't know if you noticed but PR was a top seller the whole year. The line has a steady customer base. Less risk for LEGO than the Mixer, Maersk stuff, Sydney Opera etc. If I was LEGO and had to keep only one line, it would be the modulars, second would be SW UCS. Companies like predictability. They don't kill their steadily selling products, rather they trim the more risky ones. Modulars also don't require any license.

  12. the PR isn't small. the TH is just so big. PR is the same height as PS, PC CC. PR has the most complex interior. you also can't see the back terrace when viewed from the front.

  13. Create a wanted list for the parts. One way is to go to the set inventory and select the parts you are missing. Once your wanted list is created go to this link http://www.bricklink.com/wantedShop.asp it shows the stores with most items in your wanted lists. make sure to only check the square corresponding to the set wanted list if you have more wanted lists created. Edit: Select lots (unique) for better results then click go. Also here is direct link to creating a wanted list out of the SE set http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSet.asp?itemType=S&itemNo=10231-1 if you have few parts missing select "Exclude all items from upload by default" on first page, then when the items show in next page you just have to uncheck the delete button for the few pieces you need.

  14. This and people in general are just impatient and want immediate results. These are the same people that won't last long in this game.

  15. Most of the growth of sets happens within the first three years, and there is small growth after that. I think most sets stop growing in value after five years.

  21. Last night, spent $75+ on clearance... Got the town hall mini. They had a bunch of fire station and TH minis. Asked them what they are going to do w them? They didn't really know. Maybe another event maybe send them back. Asked if I could buy any. One guy said yes, other guy next to him said no. They decided to ask the mgr. He said it's the last day, go ahead and sell. Would have bought more, but they limited me to an additional fire station and TH.

  26. I bet you did read my post with the irony needed (since I've got the impression that you yourself like to use it every now and then ;-) ) So that's why I said that probably HE is the wiser decission right now (though I would add at least one DS to my inventory if I have the chance, but not as priority). Btw: How couldn't you want to spend all your money on LEGO?!

  27. This theme will be a hit and they are cute, but to an old school LEGO guy, they are just a bit over the top for my tastes.

  28. I think that Target's availability albeit at an inflated price is also suppressing the value of the GE. Once that stock dries up, we will see the prices rise.

  29. My local Mom & Pop Pharmacy is running a 20% all their toy stock this weekend. I bought these items earlier today. Tie Fighter - $43.99 Jabba's Palace - $95.99 Friends: Adventure Camper x 2 - $27.99 Friends: Cool Convertible - $11.99 I bought the Space Shuttles a few weeks ago and I didn't see the Friends: City Park Cafe earlier today either. I'm going back for the Big Blue Brick Box 6166s tomorrow, even though they are marked up to $40 and I can get them for $32 each. It looks like they're going for about a $100 on EBay, so I should be able to get $50 profit each on all 4 of these. I'm not sure about getting the Helm's Deeps, but I know this will be my last shot at getting them for $104 each? Opinions on what I should pick-up of the remaining items? Most items are MSRP and sales tax here is 7.25%. Thanks...

  31. Finding like-minded folks. It helps reinforce the idea that this venture is a worthwhile one. Profits help too. If we had a mascot, he would be named MAX PROFIT. What surprised me about this place is that ppl are generally very friendly. This is in comparison to other forum-type websites, but also surprising bc a lot of us are competitors for customers $$ in the same market. Fortunately for those of us in the U.S., total retail e-commerce sales consistently have grown about 15% every year since 2009 (and ~20% per year prior to that), which is incredible growth compared to most markets.

  32. Yeah, that makes quite a diff w/ & w/o it's own 3G. I got the LG *** Watch as soon as it was out. When I first took it out of the box, I said, "Oh man, I don't know if I can handle something so bulky on my wrist." However, I haven't worn a watch since I had a calculator watch in elementary school, so the feeling would already be awkward with any watch. Based on pictures and video at the time, I feared the 360 would be even bigger, but it's definitely a nicer looking design. The initial reviews of the 360 were poor on battery life, but an update has since improved that. I do like some of Samsung's devices. What I fear most with them is that they pump out so many models, that they can easily move on and leave yours in the dust. I'd trust Moto, at this point, to provide updates a bit further along. It's too early at this point for me to assume watches will get replaced & forgotten as frequently as phones. Generally speaking of smartwatches - I still feel it's a completely optional piece of tech gear, but I do love the convenience of it. I personally hate ringtones and all the notifications going on throughout the day, either too loud or missing something from being too quiet. It's harder to miss a notification buzzing on my wrist, and it's easy to swipe away something that you would've been crashing your car trying to dig out of your jeans. I've actually had some meals where I didn't pull my phone out like everyone else at the table because I knew I wasn't missing anything. Need more justifications? I almost bought a fitbit as everyone at work seems to have one. Consider that $99 toward the watch. PLUS, you can check the time on your wrist! It's a novel concept, I know. When I got a phone, I said, "Why have a watch when I can just check my phone?" Now I say, "Why pull out my phone when I can just check my wrist?" I guess the watch just needed all other notifications to win me over. If I weren't such a guinea pig for new tech, I'd wait for them to be slimmer and more refined. I know they all vary to a certain extent, but mine lasts 1.5-2 days with the screen always on, or maybe 3 days if the screen's off when not viewing. I just charge it nightly w/ the phone. Sorry for the novel, only to have no experience with either watch you're looking at. I do know the OS itself is unaltered between the 3 though, so the general info applies. I think with these for now, it's almost all based on preference of looks and comfort as the specs are very similar.

  33. I got 21 bat wings and 2 arctic scouts for $45 at target. Series 12 pulled out from the back and was $3.99 each and passed. BA volunteered to send me a skid of his Series 12 at cost (not). :)

  34. I think by itself it looks nice. In group, it doesn't really or perhaps next to PS. Problem I have with it is its depth and width. It looks pretty tiny. Would have been nice if the first floor was doubled.

  36. Probably not. This house and the Minifig line was an hommage to the 25th anniversary of the Simpsons. I would rather compare it to the Ecto-1 instead of seeing it the beginning of an entire Simpsons Lego series.

  46. Perhaps you can't see it but it has a caption below. It says It is both thrilling and surreal to start building in a couple of weeks and we look forward to bringing this new world to life, once again (in 1/48 scale). Do I read this as large sets that are going to be mini figure scale like 10179?...

So yesterday I was able to score a maersk train and an Emerald Night both need new stickers if I want them built in original way also maybe a few parts missing, but he threw in a huge tub that had all kinds of lego in it jets, police station pieces, fire station, city transportation set the one that had street car, also old city coner set lots and lots of legos. I'm second guessing the purchase though cuz I have no idea how am gona sort through all this or what to do with it. Good deal for 200 dollars pictures to follow
