For all of the companies I've worked for, generally it was ok to buy product and do with it as you wish as long as you were not on the clock and you did not use your employee discount. I don't know if that's Lego's policy. So all they would have available to themselves over us is stock status. I guess they might need a forum thread, "what I heard from myself today."5 points

Called Lego again because I wanted to return my exo suits :-P.. I also asked them again about the HH that I have on backorder. The friendly lady at the phone said there was a small batch coming in where also all the Lego employees themselves were excited about, because there was a frenzy going on under the staff itself to obtain also a HH. So.. first divide the shipment under the staff. is there anything left? OK than we are going to fulfill some backorders LOL.3 points

Having LEGO declare a set "retired" is just a confirmation of what a sharp and savvy investor investor already knows. If people are waiting for a set to be officially marked as such, they are already too late and will never make any money investing in LEGO sets.2 points

Keep FB but buy more TH. With 90 day free returns that would be the best strategy right now IMO. I was a doubter 3 weeks ago but after TLG tipped its hand then it is time to go all in. I am in this game to make money, not to be right.2 points

When you have dozens of similar boxes of fun piling up - it isn't so much fun.2 points

I do have to say that if this bad boy is truly gone this year and gets the "official" mark from Lego, then me picking up 14 in one fell swoop at the very end may go down in my very own history books as an amazing opportunity. When SSD was going and I was able to snag 4 from amazon at the last minute of random inventory I thought that was great. I am now at 24 of these, I figured I was done and wrote it off, thank you Brickpicker!2 points

If you read enough of the posts these last few weeks - everything is retiring.2 points

Dunno but the EEE will not retire before 2050 considering all these dedicated containers.2 points

Hi all, After some beta testing, I have recently shared my software to synchronize inventory between the BrickLink and BrickOwl marketplaces. It runs on a seller's own computer, handles orders both ways, everything is saved as BrickStock compatible BSX files, and it should be rock solid against anything (even yanking on the ethernet cable in the middle of an update, a power cut while writing a file, etc.). So, there it is: http://www.bricksync.net/ My original plan was to make it open-source and donation-supported, but various people commented that very few people would donate if they could avoid it. Well, they were probably right! So, the only limitation is that a seller with over 250000 items will be kindly invited to support BrickSync, otherwise a little math question/puzzle will be asked to check for new orders. (I still plan to release the code under a General Public License if the donations reach a certain amount.) So, better plan ahead for the extra workload of doubled sales! And If you become rich and famous thanks to the software, please remember that it's primarily donation supported. Thanks. Stragus1 point

Hi guys, Just spot a 50% off deal at Sears, see here: http://www.sears.ca/product/lego-creator-highway-pickup-set/616-000053108-4654041. For this Creator set although it has been retired but there seems no much investment potential, I think it could still be a perfect gift! I bought this thing last year for my son's birthday at 20% off, and it is quite good. Personally I have grabbed extra 4 more for the Xmas season. Good luck!1 point

Yes the legs are attached too. It doesn't look like anything can be taken of a light-up minifigure.1 point

Tell him if he got an $1100 offer he should take it and run because he won't get anywhere close to that from an informed buyer.1 point

I unexpectedly found a pile of Series 1 (not many yellow as I recall) - maybe 30 total - sitting at the end of a clearance isle where there were no other toys in WalMart a couple weeks ago. Was in a hurry and foolishly left them... haven't seen any anywhere since. Around here Series 2 is like this: Flurr (blue) is nowhere to be found Slumbo (blue) exists in quantity only one place Jawg (brown) is getting hard to find Lunk (blue) is of course a little scarce but nothing like the first two. One of the B&M stores has about thirty of him along with all the orange and brown. Targets have tons of Series 3, Many TRU do as well, and I see considerably less of the purple ones than green or gray. Anyone surprised at the bright color dominance?1 point

I have no trouble investing where others see no point I can't believe I almost listened to the people who begged me not to get a ton of Hoth Echo Base when they were $80 or so (CAN). People hate on lots of sets...but if you think it is cool, I say diversify and get a couple tucked away. I suspect in all the hubbub of other large sets retiring or going in/out of stock, that you won't have too many competitors in the aftermarket. At the very least, you don't have to compete with Emazers, who would likely have 65 of these to unload....1 point

Seen the new Keanu Reeves new Movie John Wick Last night and it was great, His best movie in years. And like I said best action movie in years, All Star cast, Great Acting by everybody in the film, He Looses is wife, wife leaves him a small Dog, but the bad guys want his car and kill his dog, and then the Revenge Killing starts, and I mean Brutal Killing, Check the reviews which at least 3/4 of them are great. since I go to the movies all the time, Fury was good, The Equalizer was good, but John Wick is the best. So Go See it its great. Score 9/10 Ed1 point

Have bought them also at 135 euro. I don't think it will be much cheaper, so better safe then sorry. ToysXL already had 3 for price of 2, but the price of the TH was 179,99 and you had to find 2 other lego sets similar to that price. And they didn't had a lot of Town Halls. So then the best price would have been 120 euro's a set. But I am happy with the 135 euro.1 point

I'll drink to that! For those that were lucky enough and fortunate enough to stock up on these you will all do very well in the future. For the rest of us there will be a lesson learned on waiting and not buying. (esp with modulars) This is my Freshman year and man have I learned a lot about lego buying, investing, collecting etc. Thanks to BP and all of the great insight on this forum.1 point

Yes, no more discussion please. I'm traveling this week, otherwise this discussion would have been ended a long time ago.1 point

Estimates are always waay off when you actually get there (likely there'll only be 60 lbs), imho, some moderately good money sets in there but unfortunately the easy flip ones appear to be too far gone (incomplete) to be worth the effort to rebuild, once you include multiple BL order shipping costs. The starwars sets are common, the city vehicles do well selling as individuals (rather than rebuilt sets), the figs are a nice wide selection (some good ones). For a parter-outer it's a good selection, for rebuilds - not so much. it's basically a $5 per pound offer due to the work involved. missing instructions isn't a significant deterrent, they are easily found for free next to free as they are all recent sets - most of them are pretty easily recognisable.1 point

I would have thought that kind of thing would be frowned upon by their management (who probably each have 20 stashed away themselves). Got my order from the 1st this morning. Got a fright when I saw the shipping box was open and the white plastic ties were gone, but it's in perfect shape thankfully.1 point

So, there are resellers among lego employees, hmmm ? You can't trust anyone these days. What a shame ! (100th page of the HH thread: I was there )1 point

....and lose ALL of the manuals? I'd be leery about this one. Personally, I'd stay away from this lot.1 point

Maybe they could talk them out of it using walkie-talkies. Or at least club them to death with those1 point

Lego police aren't issued any guns, they would be defenseless against the impending pack of wolves that would run amok amongst Legotown.1 point

Try again, I think you should see that it retains your selection now. I have added this to the Brickfolio and Set pages. I increased the limit so you should have more than enough likes available1 point

The 2 of 2 set doesn't interest me at all, so I don't have anything planned for November other than using up all of the points I've accumulated in October. Today is day 23/31 of my daily exclusive purchase experiment. The points and free elf workshops have been accumulating quite well so far.1 point

Without a Town Hall to uphold the law and keep Lego towns protected, I fear anarchy, pandemonium, and martial law may run rampant. Also, wolves. Without a city council to address the problem of wolves, there will be no organized defense against them.1 point

The car, or ACTUAL, living beetles? I have many around our garden and will gladly trade them for a T1.1 point

I built this set and absolutely love it. The build was far more technical than the box graphic would imply. I have several stocked for investment, and will acquire a few more. That there is NOT a lot of buzz on this one makes it more appealing to me... Less stockpiling by fellow investors + the passion of LG train enthusiasts (of which I am one) are a recipe I like. Hoping I'm right!!1 point

If it hit the wire, NSA most likely has it already. If it was encrypted, then NSA has it for sure... But yeah, I see your point, once your volume is high enough, it becomes similar to any business - you don't want to provide an easy way to access your business data1 point
