  1. Look at it this way. If the set remains out of stock and retires , it will be the shortest run of any Modular. It is the largest Modular. It will be the least owned Modular since the Green Grocer...by a large amount. People just didn't pay attention until it was too late. To say the set is boring or unappealing is unfair. There are a lot of people trying to make themselves feel better because they missed out and spent their money on Exo Suits and Campers. This is a beautiful set and will be wanted by many future Modular fans who didn't get the opportunity to buy one now to complete their collection. The Cafe Corner took years to get to its current level and so will the Town Hall. But people should remember not everyone loved the gaudy Cafe Corner and look how that has worked out.

  3. Without a Town Hall to uphold the law and keep Lego towns protected, I fear anarchy, pandemonium, and martial law may run rampant. Also, wolves. Without a city council to address the problem of wolves, there will be no organized defense against them.

  10. Just read through this thread, and for anyone that missed it- someone with the name "Bricksexpert" chimed in last year. The nice thing with that Handle is you don't have to change it a bit if joining Ashley Madison.com, etc. On topic: completely, completely unfair this set became inaccessible in the U.S. So long before it has in Europe. Please take back The Beckham's. Give us the SSD instead.

  12. I don't know if here is a thread for this already, but I was looking for an answer for a certain set (70809) Lord Business Evil Lair how many of them are in a LEGO shipping box. I think this would be helpful to have a thread where people can post for each set, as the amount of items that I have received damaged is huge, usually if you buy a single set in the UK (Not Lego S&****) they send it in bubble wrap (if you're lucky) in a plastic bag, but i have found if you buy the quantity of a shipping box they usually just ship it in that box and it protects the items better. 13. I think the topic you are looking for the is the Number of Sealed Bags in each Lego set. It has a lot of sets in the main list, so hopefully your set is there so you can confirm the contents.

  19. Yep no complaints here. And you are right the seal codes have no useful information other than telling you when the pieces were placed inside that particular box. You don't just flip on a switch to produce pieces for a set it is a little more involved and costly than that. They may pack small batches every few weeks but the actual production for the bricks that are being packed was completed a long time before that.

  21. Blasphemy! I loved trekking around Middle Earth in the LEGO LOTR game and thought the free play was fantastic. That is coming from a big LOTR fan though, so I'm a little biased. I'm not sure I encountered any more glitches with that game than previous ones, but I really didn't keep track.

  24. Knock on wood I e never had a return of Legos with over 50 sales in the last month and a half. All self ship. I've sold sets as high as $350 and as low as $3 plus shipping. I agree with others though and am thinking about stopping selling sets over $200 on Amazon. Problem is they sell for so much more than ebay. Helms deep sold for $190 plus shipping just yesterday. I'm intrigued about the shipping costs for using FBA but don't you have to pay a monthly storage fee for things that they store for you?

  26. I am holding just five for long-term. Depending on your investment capital, there's different considerations. 5 of these will cost you about 175; that is a bit more than one Arkham Asylum; a bit less than a Town Hall or Tower of Orthanc. If all three sets netted the same % return, you are managing only one sale versus five sales and all the time/cost/work that comes with it.

  27. The seller pays to ship to Amazon's warehouses. You will get Amazon's low UPS rates which are around $0.50 per lb if you fill a box. Max size of a box you can send is 25" x 25" x 25". You also don't get to choose which warehouse you ship to. For example you may have 10 Helms Deep. Amazon could tell you to ship 8 to California, 1 to Florida and 1 to Kentucky. You do have the option in that case to send all 10 to one warehouse and pay an extra fee ($0.30 for small sets, $1.30 for medium and large sets).

  28. I will tell you how I plan to use the BP trader feature once up and running. I absolutely love researching Lego sets, purchasing solid quantities, and making great returns doing so. Having fun, and making money doing so- can't beat it. Due to the nature of my work, plus family/home life, I do not have the resource of time (nor interest) in establishing an online store via EBay or Amazon. The time investment of dealing with returns, end-buyer inquiries, etc. is more than I am able to do. I would much rather have a wholesaler's approach- selling to fellow BP'ers at a profit-generating price for both myself and them. I place an extreme premium on qualified buyers, and would rather bulk sell/ship at a discount to an established BP'er than manage single-unit sales to the public. Can't wait for the Classifieds to be up and running.

  29. It's doubtful because LEGO wouldn't just cut such a large portion of a VERY POPULAR theme in one go. (Obviously, I don't have facts on sales but it's hard to believe otherwise) They probably won't retire half the sets we are discussing. Come on people - T1 Camper, Sopwith Camel, GE, TH, HH, PS, Orthanc, etc. all in the same few months?? Unless LEGO is attempting to alienate their AFOL community and piss off a portion of the TFOL population who are saving up for pricier sets, I'm pretty sure we can expect 3 from the list that I just named tops. The odds of all of the sets being modulars is pretty low at that. Several experienced members (as well as some with insider information), have given their opinions, and the arrows definitely don't point to three modulars.

  30. True, you can never pinpoint there numbers 100%. They designed them that way. Holidays are the worst when it drops from 99 down to 93 or 94 then they fix it and goes back up to where you were. I am pretty sure though that they changed the working from tracking uploaded to tracking validated by carrier from spring to fall. Could be wrong though. I always read them and come away with a headache and realizing its one or more things they are making harder to maintain lol!

  33. I build in stages when I have time in my garage-workshop-man cave, and the TH is my current project. It really is beautiful, sturdy, and very well thought-out. I understand why some might say "meh" at first glance, but it's an iconic "city center" piece, not unlike the actual limestone courthouse on the city square in my hometown. I'm glad I have a few stashed away and one for me. I think it will do well as folks continue to build their modular cities and realize this is the building they were looking for to tie everything together.

  37. These were my thoughts also when casting my vote. Even though I believe it's going to be hard to find this bad boy in the near future, I believe the official retirement isn't going to happen until early 2015. If the poll was a little more specific in time frames, the accuracy of what BPers really believe would be portrayed a little better.

  39. I've got close to 90 of these now. However as it's not looking like retiring anytime soon I'm going to hold up buying anymore till next year. This is by far my most stockpiled set and I'll be aiming for 100-150 by the time it's done.

  42. The question is do you want a fast nickle or a slow dime? I am generally content to set my prices on eBay at a bit about average on most things, and sometimes well above average if it's something I am confident hasn't reached its top price. If you need cash, the fast nickle may be more appealing. If you can wait, the attempt at the slow dime (knowing you can drop the price to the fast nickle at need) may work for you.

  45. 100% have to do insurance for the full price. Signature Confirmation - I might even go sig confirmation by the person themselves. Pack it like you would pack a child (don't ship a child). Skimping is the way to screw yourself on a huge item. Make sure that thing could take a steam roller. The buyer sounds good - wouldn't worry too much there.

  46. Hey guys, I thought i would share my investment tracker spreadsheet, which i think is pretty nifty if i don't say so myself https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-FkThHORDEicDBRMWkyNU54Vmc/edit?usp=sharing Basically, I love the Brickfolio, but it was just bothering me that some of the new sets were showing up as -100%, as I couldn't view the data accurately, I decided to make my own tracker in excel using the exported CSV file from Brickfolio. The formulas are all set up, so if you change the the numbers in the quantity, purchase price, or MSRRP columns, everything else including all the percentages cascades down accordingly. Every fortnight, I scour eBay and update the average market prices per set, this provides me with really accurate indication on the growth % of my inventory. The second sheet added is just full inventory list, which i'll update once i start selling (i haven't done so yet). I hope this helps others too here. Thanks!!
