  4. "Epic" ? Pets included are parrots, frogs, a dog, a cat, a fish... I can't see any phoenix, unicorn or dragon. ^^

  5. Plus, with the GG's costs skyrocketing, the pet shop may be able to provide supper for the family at a more reasonable price point.

  9. I got more. If these things were as scarce as people are reporting, kids fighting, parking lot deals I think I will hold and see if they appreciate.

  11. I don't get the PS hate. If you've ever lived in a big city, it captures that "feel" far more than the other modulars. It could also easily be contemporary, whereas most of the others are stuck in the mid 1950's. FB is the ugly duckling of the group; TH is actually pretty nice, though I could imagine a symmetrical exterior build being a little less interesting.

  12. Personally, I would not recommend anyone investing in castle or kingdoms. Too generic and too repetitive most of the time. Some people may have luck selling when they bought cheap, but around the $100 mark there are much better investment sets available, also exclusive

  13. Also people are entiltled to their own opinion, as well as it not any one persons job to convince the masses that any one opinion is correct. To each his own.

  16. "Consistent seller" does not equal "epic seller" or "epic set" in my opinion. I just think your first post was laying on the praise for PS a little too much. Comparing it to the TH, which could be retiring early due to slow sales, is not exactly the best way to make your case for this being a "heavyweight" for LEGO.

  17. Depends on who you ask. I would place it on the smaller end of the large sets. For me, anything with over 1,000 pieces is considered a larger set for Technic. A medium set is from 500 to 999, and a small set is anything below 500.

  18. My 5 HH shipped from amazon 3rd party. They said they would pack it extra well. Here is to hope.

  19. Honestly, up until about three weeks ago, nobody cared about the Pet Shop. It is a nice set, but it really just blends. It will do well after retirement, but it will exhibit the weakest growth IMO of all the current Modulars.

  20. I'm still stockpiling 10226s when found at MSRP or better. I've been lucky enough to still find used sets pretty cheap as folks are concentrating on new / sealed ones. I did miss out on cheap used one yesterday though as I didn't have enough time for a last min bid (school trip with my son). I made up for it by ordering an extra desert during lunch. Another nice thing is the box isn't too big for storage.

  21. Was at my local Lego store 3 days ago and was directly told that this set and the Haunted House have been "officially retired". Of course, the staff know nothing, but what the 2 people I spoke with appeared certain about was that they can now "only be picked up on the secondary market". Personally I waited on the Sopwith camel for investment, I`ve now bought a stack of them through separate orders, I love this set and from waht I`ve seen the people who also love it will be willing to pay quite a premium for it. I missed the Haunted House though, that one I really screwed up on. Figured it would be out till end of year, big, big, big, big, huge mistake!! Gah!!!

  28. Agreed. But sometimes, someone will take the $20, and along with getting their investment back, be happy to invest it into something else.

  29. Lol there is no way I can compete with people willing to make $20 on a $220 item

  33. Well, there is somewhat persistent rumor about 2016. We should do a meet once it retires. Do a cosplay build party with beer bongs and such. Burn the one we build on a stake, or some sort bonfire maybe. Or industrial laser, to remain in character.

  34. Nice score Tabby- I have just 3. And I hate to do it, but I'm pretty sure we're going to tear into one of them tonight. I mean, that was always the plan - to have one for ourselves - but looking at prices now (and imagining where they may go)... it's going to be hard to crack those seals. I've been preparing my six-year-old all week: telling him that this will be not his Lego, but our family's Lego. That we're going to set it up for Halloween, then take it down after the holiday - just like a Christmas tree. You will not take the minifigures to your room. You will not swap their heads with your stormtroopers or Darth Vader... jeez... I feel like the dad in the Lego movie. But I gotta lay down some law.

  36. Only thing that seems odd is the mudguards and two panels are not in dark green to match the rest of the vehicle. Otherwise it looks great.
