Well - I had a similar experience yesterday: two HHs from Target arrived in one box, poorly packed and creased boxes (but still sealed). I called Target and explained the damage. After a couple of minutes on hold: guess what they did - they will refund one of the HHs, and I can keep both damaged ones. So in the end I got two HHs with box damage for 50% off. That's what I call a deal. Especially when I want to build one myself anyway. Target made my day today.

I gave my last worriz bike to a kid in the Lego store after I got my stuff and he about peed his pants.

I took my boys to the Richmond VA Lego Fest this last weekend. I was really impressed that Lego kept my boys excited about building 4.5 hours. Lots of builds and games to play with no lines. My wife and daughter were supposed to attend but had to attend a soccer tournament. Boys day out was awesome. Enjoy the video.

Maybe. Maybe not. I seriously doubt the rumors posted on BP alone is making this set sold-out. There seems to be something else going on. Here's my 2 cents. Regardless whether this set retires in 2014 or 2015, why take a chance? We have the largest set from a very popular theme and it's not discounted anymore. Worse case is you pick it up and hold for longer then desired. At least you won't get caught by surprised if it does indeed go EOL. I think the possible risk of not having the set is greater than holding onto it for extra time.

Sold a Police ATV polybag for $5. The time it took me to research market price, take photos, list, print label, find envelop, etc is worth much more than the set. Googled the recipient's address, saw the house and decided to include a Worriz fire bike as a small surprise for the kid.

Not all sellers can do math, nor all sets acquired through honest means..

I value the opinions of Lego staff, that is until they all contradict each other. So we've had a store manager tell us PS is about to cease production, the spotty faced weekend boy tell us the TH is done and of course the dozens of other managers and store employees who predicted that the GE is on it's last legs. So what do you believe? Not the view of a Lego shop employee, that's for sure.

Thanks ! That's a more detailed spreadsheet than mine. Although market street is a bit "special", it's interesting to have it inside. Here is another. more visual I think. I'll incorporate market street and haunted house when GE (and PS ? and PS ?) will be retired for sure. I'll use yours for an update of mine if you're ok (edit: I take your "like this" for a "ok", so thanks ). Absolutely, but it's more a modular than the HH. It's interesting enough to incoporate it because, modular or not, it's a buillding designed for AFOLs. But it has to be put apart.

But do keep in mind that GE was some time ago in similar situation (end of 2012?) - it was showing all the right signs, yet came back eventually. PS and TH still feel like a gamble knowing GE history.

Why not have both?

Let me ask a simple question...If LEGO decides to change their long term philosophy of first released, first retired and started a more random retirement process...maybe poor sellers go first, how would that change the secondary market? I think people better start realizing that LEGO has a plan and it is being implemented as we type.

I don't want to discourage anyone or be flamed, but I have learned to not just look at the price of old sets, but also the monthly volume sold. I decided to pass on these b/c the monthly sales volume seems low on the older ones. This is the reason I also don't invest in technic anymore. When it comes time to sell they just move too slow. Oh and btw can I interest anyone in my 9396s, 8110s, or 41999s? Perhaps I'll write a contrarian blog about this one, TB, and well I already did Friends.

Ever since I saw the movies I loved Star Wars. Being one of the most impressive vehicles on screen of course the AT-AT was something I wished for when I was younger, stay playing with LEGOs not thinking about investing ;-) There have been quite some AT-ATs and they all have something going for them, though since it's my first one I prefer the newest edition. Anyhow, I always would have loved to see a HUUUGE UCS model of this one. But as you all might be aware of there is nothing like it available. So some of you might already know those MOC AT-AT, but if you have not seen them before you might love them just as much as I do. (if you didn't know: MOC = my own creation, refers to everything that somebody did build by himself without an official LEGO manual (so don't get me wrong it's not MY personal own creation ;-) )) Please feel free to post other cool MOC AT-ATs It's difficult to pic a favorite, but to me it is the ATAT MOC8 (i posted). I also really like the Friends-theme version and the steam-punk one. And the VW bus is just hilarious :-D

So yea i think i have to share what i just did I needed a place for my Death Star and i used my bedside table for this, but now i'm without bedside table. Well, why not use a stack of your stash! Gunships and AT-AT assemble! (MISB boxes btw).

I made a call to TRU, and the representative said he opened a case and specialists will contact within 7-10 business days. I know that the easiest way is just returning them to local store, and purchase them from LEGO Shop at Home. But two orders on LEGO Shop at Home are in process status right now. I'm not sure buying more from LEGO Shop at Home is smart move since I don't want to get a ban-hammer badge. ;-)

CS said they ran out so they just substituted with something similar. Gotta love it .

Ok so on the one side, you guys say that lego may change its plan to confuse investors. Why not. But I'm more tempted to think that it will not cover the profits they could make by still having a best-seller set in their catalog. "Oh, the Palace cinema sells well ! let's stop it, so it will confuse investors ! Yeah ! ... what ? no more profits if we do not produce this best seller anymore ? Ohhhh damned... too bad, but ok, investors that sell 30 sets per month on ebay are our priority ! yeeha !" I don't think so... I try to never buy just one set (except if it's a very expensive set, like the SSD or the DS), because: - as a small investor, with x2 sets instead of x1 set (not that much money for investment), you will double the money you'll earn; - as a builder, you're always tempted to open a set you own. Building one and keeping one other set sealed can make you, some years later, have your opened set for free.

I believe the story with SSD pretty much confirmed that distribution channels between regions do not mix (except in special cases, like rovers, which originated only from location"S"), when a set is produced in (or distributed from) "R" location as well as "S". I.e. availability in Europe in many (most?) cases has nothing to do with availability in US (and the opposite is true as well)

I can't even get the motivation for a 90 day return on this one. The idea that TLG is retiring this set ahead of schedule is just too far out there for me. Good luck to the rest of you tho I hope you make a killing. Now if a certain sand green house becomes available sign me up

This set is sold out on US Shop at Home as of Oct 4th. It's still available at TRU and Walmart, so I picked up a few.

I could care less if TH is retiring right now or not. If I can squeeze $50 or $100 out of a few sets on CL this time of year from panicked parents who were robbed of the opportunity to buy this in the stores because of those GD reseller scum, who am I to say no? I am here to serve you, the disenfranchised parents of rich kids who must have these sets for christmas.

I like to use the amazon card after owning others. This way, I can support our BP community by using the affiliate links on this web site and still earn rewards through amazon. We pay for stuff like daycare, mobile phone bills, etc.. on that Amazon card. Points accumulate pretty fast as you prob already know. I also like how Amazon has 99% of the sets shop@home has at usually better prices. I also like using my Amazon points to make my own discounts on exclusives. My last couple of 10220, 10226, and and 10228s were all purchased at 30%-50% off due to points. It'a very hard to do that at Lego.com. I'm in IT and know how first hand how expensive running a web site is even before software licensing, premium data feeds, paying coders, etc... It's a win-win.

On my Avazon order I found it interesting my two TH are in a 20lb box fromChatanooga TN and are coming fedex. I do not think I ever get Amazon from TN and they never use FedEx. Strange.

I have found that halloween has no effect. christmas is better. However retired sets may take a dip around then just because not every retired set is a big holiday item. More years they are retired seems to = less of a holiday bump.

It's too bad the car in the Tow Truck set is the same as every car Lego produces in every set. Surely Lego city car dealerships have other models than this little hatchback looking thing. Which brings me to another point, that would be a cool set, Car Dealership.

I'm guessing that anyone who bought into Prince of Persia as an investment jumped off a bridge long ago, which is why you don't see many listings for it.

That is what I'm thinking. Lego would retire the modular that doesn't sell well. My best guess is that the Town Hall doesn't sell very well. The price point is higher unlike the other modulars which have a MSRP between $149.99 and $159.99. That $40 to $50 price difference may not be a lot of money to the Lego investors, but it may be a lot to a collector who has an option to buy a cheaper modular.
