  1. you guys really are making this worse by cleaning out every single retailer every time there's a hint of a shortage you make them extremely happy and you make them order more batches

  4. I will probably be heckled for this, though I ask you to respond respectfully. Lego is at or approaching being a $5 Billion corporation. Does everyone really think that the mass effect of people on Brickpicker and other sites who buy up inventory have such an important effect on Lego that we actually cause them to adjust sales forecasts and run complete new builds of products? When we were mass buying up the SSD's they did not come through and keep producing 50,000 more they retired it in the US. We can cause spikes shortages and out of stocks but to think that Lego adjusts their overall marketing strategy based upon the frenzy of people scooping up something like Town Hall and that they either were going to retire it or no will not retire it based on the last few days of sales I think makes a much higher opinion of ourselves than we deserve in terms of their overall strategy. The majority of their sales goes to end users (through authorized retailers) and direct through LEGO Shop at Home. In the US I think they do not like at all what most of us do buying up sets are doing and they try to ban and block it where ever possible so that the sets are available for their original intended base. But I do not think there is any great focus on us. I would liken it to if any of you have lived on a farm and owned a horse. There are constantly flies buzzing around the horse and it will swat them with its tail whenever possible, and there will always be flies and it will always swat them, but is a horses main reason in life to swat flies? It doesn't care about the flies it just wants them gone but it goes on and eats, runs, and has fun whether they are there or not. The same with Lego. Whether TH, GE, PS, TB, ToO, 3E or any of them go away we can make small ripples in the pond. But I think we are ripples. Lego is an ocean. That said I am stocking up on everything. Cheers!

  14. This is precisely why TLG has instituted bans and controls. The reselling epidemic for this product has really gotten out of control and is without a doubt disrupting supply lines in the USA. This set is scheduled for 2016 yet the noobs come on this site and get the impression it is going this year and soon as a major retailer runs out of stock they all run and buy every retailer out. What is even more bizarre is the mob doesn't focus on the sets that are actually retiring this year lol. I remember a few weeks ago everyone was buying T1 Campers, then the mob moved onto Pet Shop, now I guess TH is the flavor of the week. Sooner or later they might actually stumble upon a set that is retiring this year.

  20. I was excited to discover most of the pieces to 7019 Viking Fortress against the Fafnir Dragon in a bulk purchase. After brick-linking the missing parts, I was able to complete the set. I do not have the instruction manuals or original box, so I used the PDF manual from Brickset. The Viking Fortress was the largest set LEGO produced from the Viking line 2005 and contains 1019 pieces. The set retailed for $70 in the US and 50 pounds in the UK. The fortress is a large structure made to resemble an octagonal wooden fortress - it uses a lot of the "wood" wall palisades similar to Fort Legorado - and comes with 6 minifigures, a large dragon, and a small dragon. MINIFIGURES There are 6 Viking minifigures included in this set: 5 warriors and the Viking King. Each figure has a different color scheme and printing, along with plenty of weapons, including many of the custom printed Viking "radar dish" shields. DRAGONS There are 2 dragons - a small, baby dragon that is a simple Technic-based build with red, translucent wings. Both are custom builds and only available in this set. The 2 small technic black bushings are rare and expensive, and since I was missing one, I actually substituted light bluish gray. The large Fafnir Dragon is also Technic-based, and while not nearly as detailed or cool as the newer Ninjago dragos, it is large and pretty formidable in dark green. The large dragon head is rather rare, as it is only included in Viking sets and Mistlands Tower. THE FORTRESS BUILD The first part of the fortress is the main gate. The gate is very tall and includes double doors that swing open. The next part of the build is the large cage with a huge catapult on top. The cage opens so you can put the small dragon inside, and the catapult shoots 3 large boulders. Next, comes the rest of the walls - 2 identical sections that end up connecting to the gate and the catapult cage. Each of these wall sections also include a smaller catapult on top. Finally, all the wall sections are able to join up to make a HUGE structure: A very impressive set - if anything, just for it's large footprint. Of course, there's much more to be excited about...from the Viking minifigures to the dragons to the array of weapons and catapults. For investment purposes, latest Brickpicker pricing comes in at $215 new and $128 used with recent Ebay sales of 100% complete sets pushing up as high as $167 with box and manuals. The Viking theme as a whole is viewed by some collectors as highly desirable due to its unique, hard-to-find sets. Of course, if LEGO decides to reboot a Viking theme, I would imagine these older models may suffer if the newer ones improved on the designs.

  21. Hello fellow BrickPickers... Starting October 1, 2014, BrickPicker will be starting a BrickPicker Blog Group. In the past, we utilized blog contests to acquire new content. We would like to improve on that method and actually pay experienced and knowledgeable BrickPicker members to write new content for the site. The content will be similar to older blog articles and reviews, with a heavy emphasis on LEGO investing...but any quality LEGO topic can qualify. Qualified members will earn a $5 Gift Card to Amazon, LEGO S@H, etc... for every 1000 words/5000 characters in the content that is submitted and approved by Jeff and myself. There is a new application in the Wordpress blog editor that tracks this and the "readability" of the blog. It is one method that I will use to differentiate quality writing from poor writing and helps take photos and images out of the equation as well. I will talk more about this to approved blog writers. How does one become an approved blog writer? Several ways. Mods will have access to the group and will be able to post new content. Previous blog contest winners/runner ups are automatically qualified to be a blog writer. Jeff and I will invite some people who we think would be qualified to write content(if they are interested in doing so). Also, members can either produce content or show me previous work that indicates high literary ability. Approval is not guaranteed, but we will be honest and fair with any member that is interested in joining the group. We are trying to up the content bar. Jeff is working on a new homepage that will have a more interactive blog section to it. Some blog writers will have the ability to produce daily updates/content on the homepage that be front and center on the homepage. We want to produce "new" content, not just post links from other sites...and are willing to pay for it. If you are interested in joining this group and believe you are qualified, let me or Jeff know by PM. We will be sending out some invites to people over the next week or so. If you want to start writing, you can begin in the Wordpress blog editor. Please ask Jeff or I to enable your access to the Wordpress editor. There will be a private forum for blog writers and I will go over the new editor app and readability indexes with members. Also, Jeff will come up with a basic tracking system for blog writers that shows what they have produced and how much they earned. Any questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks...

  22. That doesn't completely surprise me for the EU as you actually went Sold Out/Retired. It never went out of stock here in the States. I honestly think they just made a mistake on calling it Retired over there instead of Sold Out and removing it from the board until the next holiday season, but that's just a guess. I'm not that big of a conspiracy theorist, though.

  23. People who are ok to wait the very last moment for a set to retire, checking deals for hours every week to finally save $10, for a set which can give them $200 if they are patient enough: yes, I call it being greedy. That's what I say because I want to look polite, especially when you consider that those people can simply totaly miss the boat for some retiring sets. I think about people who wanted the very best deal and wait the very last moment to have some HH (and were able to get zero).

  25. Ah, when you said 5x return I thought you meant you sold for $120 or up. As for the rest of your post, I personally do not argue with people about their personal strategies (even AFTER I hinted otherwise ). To me, each person's situation is unique. So if you find a strategy best suited for you, then go out there and kick some butts :)

  35. Why won't this set just go away while there's time to make a decent ROI! I pray to the old and new gods of Westeros each night. I wonder if new sets have been made lately or retailers are still selling sets from 2013. Honestly, I fear is that it will finally disappear just when a new line of City digging sets surface.

  41. I picked up my order this morning.... And this is what he brought me: If it wasn't for the fact he packed it himself (told me he pulled almost all of them from the shelf for two orders) I'd have thought TRU pulled a Kmart on me. But this is what I got... Seal code is 33R4 which according to this http://www.epochconverter.com/date-and-time/weeknumbers-by-year.php is middle of August (11-17). No new run... they must have found some old stock. I asked him if they had anymore and he said he pulled half for my order, and almost all the rest for another and the cashier who knows me too well said that one was bought this morning.

  43. It is only an opinion but this modular set may end up being hoarded/purchased more than any other modular due to increasing hype far above FB at this point with a 3-4 month lag of sold out titles, especially if it stays in stock until the New Year. I believe FB's original price point above the other modulars and it's basic Fire Station genre may have turned more people than previously thought off purchasing too many because it cost more, was just a simple fire station which we've all seen dozens of in other sets including City, and lack of detail inside. The same might be said about the current Town Hall as it currently sits at $200 and few care about it. Knowing the rapid increase of Fire Brigade at a $100 increase in less than 12 months there is a chance that GE having sit as the top seller for Lego several days alone last week before returning for another production run while more limited in overall in-production years may be a far more purchased set. Many investors and collectors have only found this site within the last year or two and among those I know a few who purchase several dozen sets just for themselves, and they don't have several dozen Fire Brigades even when Emazers was pushing them and warning before EOL. The Fire Brigades are already going for $300 on Fleabay. The corner building appeal doesn't really have weight imo as most modular pictures show a strait line of buildings whether modified or original. Who in the pictures you've seen builds a town in squares rather than putting their Buildings in a strait line along the wall so that they can gaze at them?? Either way, this set is good and I have some but I don't think it will fetch near what some of the other Modulars may end up fetching in 5-8 years when 10 more modular sets will have been released, especially when newer modulars have better character(Parisian Restaurant and Pet Shop) or are a must for any group of buildings whether a small town or a large MOC layout(Town Hall, Fire Brigade). The GE is kind of on it's own, and I kind of wonder what it will really do, I hope it's a home run but I don't see it being better long term than Fire Brigade, I hope someone can show me the error of thinking.

  45. Put them on bricklink. Others may need them to complete sets from their bulk lots, and you can make a little money off of them.

  46. Personally, I prefer the Sterilite plastic drawers/bagged parts for my Bricklink inventory - they're stacked 10 high and are easily switched out when the need for expansion hits other surrounding drawers. But my store is over 300K parts. So it depends on how big you want or expect your inventory to get. If it is going to remain small, then Plano tackle boxes work just fine or the other methods listed above. But once space becomes an issue, I really would not want to have to pull a bottom tub from a stack of 5-10 heavy tubs while pulling orders. I thought the tackle boxes were perfect . . . until my inventory really took off. Now I probably have 100+ of them empty sitting in the garage long since replaced by over 150 drawers And while the cost of the drawers is much higher than some of the options listed, they're a business expense and you can just get a few each week/month as your inventory grows. Again, it depends on your goals, but I would suggest figuring out your long term goals and building with that in mind. That way, you might prevent winding up with an obsolete storage system that you outgrew and is now a waste of money and space.
