  1. Okay - here is the collection. There are a bunch of Friends, Princess, & Space sets destroyed on the Lego table because my four year old prefers her own creations despite what the six year old says. I'm running low on space, so most sets are in my office at home, but some are at the office at work. I work in a school, so it makes good conversation with my middle school kids. This also doesn't count the bunch in storage in the closets. Forewarned many pics to follow! Enjoy!

  3. That article is pretty ignorant about TLGs history and the success of friends. I'd be tempted to email them about some errors, but I would basically end up rewriting the entire article. Edit: Oh wait, I see it is on the huffington post. The accuracy is about what I would expect for that site.

  4. My nephew (who is 10) loves Bionocle for the same reason. He just loves creating crazy creatures. I got him a 20 lb box off of Goodwill for cheap (like $10) one time, and he actually took the time to write me a thank you note, and tell me that, "it was the best day of his life."

  5. Yeah but you wouldn't get the exclusive 'porky' fig in the large model.

  7. Just2Good on Eurobricks has found a logo for some new theme titled "Speed Champions" that is believed to be released later in 2015. Earlier there was a rumor for something based on the TV show Top Gear so I am guessing this is what became of that. Anyway here is a list of rumored sets with the tiny logo. 75899 - Ferrari F150 75908 - Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 75909 - McLaren P1 75910 - Porsche 918 Spyder 75911 - McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop 75912 - Porsche 911 GT Finish Line 75913 - Ferrari F14 & Scuderia Ferrari Truck Source: The Brick Fan

  8. Hello from Melbourne Australia!! I have just started collecting some lego after learning about what a big market it is for investment purposes. I like investing in things a bit out of the ordinary. I have just purchased the following brand new sets. 10240 (X-Wing) $223.20 10225 (R2D2) $199 10188 (Death Star) $598 71006 (Simpsons Lego House) $298 The next 2 sets I'm looking to buy are 10221 (Super Star Destroyer) & 75059 (Sand Crawler) unsure on prices at the moment as they're proving difficult to find. All of the above sets are quite large and I figure if they don't go up in price I'll happily build them and keep them. One thing I notice is that Lego seems to be quite expensive here in Australia when compared to the United States If anyone has any comments on my purchases or tips for a new Australian investor please feel free to respond. Thanks Guys

  9. I haven't had any problems yet, and it's been displayed like that for almost a year. It's only a few inches on either side plus the "cable" parts serve as a nice cantilever. .

  10. since wm got it. its bound to come back @ amazon; target. so watch them as well if you need to get them in masses. my logic dictates that this set is definitely going to be around till end of the year. if it retires that would be after december the earliest. "oh yeah and when i said back in JUNE; that this set will come back via LEGO Shop at Home; i was ridiculed saying i just had 10 posts :D" no offense to great mods. hope you have enjoyed my insights just because people don't pick up POM POM and shout buy buy at every instance does not make them bearish either...

  11. A nisb 3677 red cargo train and some extra track for $150 from a seller on Craigslist. I recently started buying Lego trains for myself, and this one wasn't even on my radar since I don't love it, but decided it was worth it for less than original retail price. Though I imagine this one could probably be for some good prices before it hit EOL.

  12. Do you mean 10240? $150 for 9493 is crazy expensive ( > 2 x MSRP)

  13. Bought an open box Simpsons house on Amazon for $92+ about 6 for shipping.

  14. Besides the advice above, I'd say: don't leave price stickers on any item you sell, unless you happen to be selling it for LESS than the sticker price. You're asking for trouble, there are a fair few buyers out there who go all kinds of whack-a-mole when they think they've "overpaid". No, don't ask me to explain the logic, I have no idea. If you cannot remove the sticker, change the sticker - black out the price, put another sticker over the top with your store logo on it (of course photograph and describe whatever sticker you put there when you list it), etc.

  15. My son loves these sets and so do I. I have always loved Bionicle and Hero Factory sets and by looking at the themes overall CAGR, one can make a case that many other people love them as well. I always thought of them as a "bio" Technic theme and I love the variety of colors and piece types. Don't underestimate these sets. They may never reach top dollar, but they are consistent producers and can be found on discount every year.

  16. since i'm still feeling bummed like many about the HHs, i needed to get my lego on after 2 mojito drinks last night w/ the wife . i worked out a trade with a fellow member for an empty 10178 box for the loose set recently purchased. i sense an upcoming build / review thread. 1 loose 10226 sopwith camel (no box) for $79. 2 batcaves from amazon. Picked up all ironman minifigs my son and i needed (avg'd $5.50 each including war machine) to build that Lego kids club moc from last year. yay! my son and i are both happy. PDF link below for the build. http://cache.lego.com/r/club/-/media/Club/Markets/US/Club%20codes/STARK.pdf

  17. I don't think so, because such a scene is only about Back to the future (BttF). And the main value is in the TH. The (few) people who would like to do this would do it by themselves, so I wouldn't bother to combine such sets, and have the risk to see it taking dust. IMO you can pack some items when it's very obvious to sell them together (like santa's workshop and the free polybags with elves), or when the cheapest item can be seen as a nice bonus (and not the reverse ). With the TH + Delorean, in value it will be about 80% TH and 20% delorean, but the scene is about BttF. Something like a Delorean + a cheaper set would be better (let's say a lego city dustbin with accessories) , to make a scene in which doc search for bananas to give some power to the delorean. Or a big billboard to hide the delorean behind. Of course, if the TH were an official BttF set (box, etc.), that would be different !

  18. Exo-Suit, Exo-Suit, EXO-SUIT!!!! They are pretty much the same. I just slightly reworded the title to better reflect the questions as I think this would make a good topic to revisit at least once a year every year like a family reunion ....except I actually like the people here.

  23. my 3 year old got hold of my 10212 and managed to obliterate the front part (cockpit and nose). putting that back together wasn't that big of a deal until I discovered that the storm trooper's gun was missing. He had somehow managed to hide it behind the cockpit in the Advanced Tie set. While trying to extract it the entire half of that set collapsed, that darn thing is more fragile than glass. 3 hours wasted. smh

  24. I don't really understand all the "done" talk for a set that is still, not only available for retail, but currently still in production.

  30. I could have bought all three, but felt guilty. There was like 3 managers watching me. Luckily, I had my 5 year old son with me and he bought a Hero factory set and a keychain to throw them off my scent. LOL.

  35. no. but the opposite of that is true - the Red 5 UCS x-wing will put a ceiling on the little x-wing's value while the Red 5 is available at retailers - why would anyone pay $100 or $150 for the little x-wing after it retires when for a little bit more you get the UCS version.
    1 point
  36. I like the X-Wing and will stock up on it (the big one) and the little one. But R2 D2 is the bomb diggity. As Watto would say for the next round of EOL investing you should respond, nubian nubian yes we have lots of that. nubian = R2D2, Maersk, AA and WVM. Then the UCS X Wing later.

  39. Yesterday, I built the 6090 Royal Knight's Castle I received this as a gift a couple of weeks ago so I probably will not replace the missing minifigs (1/2 of them) but I will buy the 4 missing pieces as they are cheap. As I did not have the instructions, I had to work with the online set; unfortunately the first 15 steps (of 57) are rotated 90 degrees so that made it challenging. I forgot how neat the 90s castles were (I was a city builder, one of my brothers was the castle man)
