  2. Jeff and his programming minions are making nice progress on the Classifieds. I feel really bad always saying this because I've been saying it for a long time, but the newest version looks and works great. There are just do many small details that always need to be addressed when dealing with money. It has to be done right or people will lose faith immediately. I will just leave you with one main idea of the Classifieds...We are seller friendly.

  6. I'm very sorry that you're having to deal with this. Has your other account been suspended as well? While I think our favorite amphibian will be best able to answer your questions (you may want to PM Frog) I will say that I never use stock photos. I have also never heard of an account being suspended for the reasons you cite.

  7. I'm reckoning that the Macks' mean GOOD seller friendly. Buttheads and scammers will be shown the door with a boot unless I miss my guess. With a seller friendly environment, more sellers are attracted, which means more competition, better prices for buyers, and lots of good sellers to choose from. I call that pretty buyer friendly and look forward to buying here.

  16. they are merely "sold out" with "retiring soon" tag.. They are not retired officially. De-facto they are. But neither "sold out" not "retiring soon" mean jack. Combined, they are quite definite, but unless they are marked retired, they are not retired

  21. The comments in this topic make me realize that is set is going to be huge and fantastic, people that are normally not into SW, Spaceship, UCS etc. wanting this set. Can't wait for the aftermarket!

  23. The coupon code is 941612846. Says it's good on toys and much of the Lego is on sale. Might stack nicely but unfortunately their mobile site scums and won't show me more than 10 sets.

  25. Looks great. Piece count is a lot better than I had heard. I was worried it would be in the 1500 range like they had done a couple of times which at a 200$ price point is not very good.

  27. Originally the WV sets lasted 3 years, but the more recent releases have only lasted 2. Therefore, this is likely the last season for the Market. Here is a recap with my order of desirability. The Market is tied for last, but that's sort of like being the ugliest girl at the Miss America pageant. It's still pretty hot. (btw I love this theme.) #3 Toy Shop 3 Years, #4 Bakery 3 years, #5 Post Office 2 years, #1 Cottage 2 years, #5 Market 2 years?, #2 Santa Workshop ?

  28. Right, there is no grand scheme to cheat non-US members of anything. On the contrary, we are trying to make the site more friendly for non-US members. The SSD thread is becoming too large. It slows emails and response time, so maybe some responses are moved or deleted. It's not personal...just computer guy mumbo jumbo...

  31. EU data is a good proxy for US and vice versa. We are all talking about sunspots no better than soothsaying regarding retirement, however the strongest sign still is that a product goes EOL in one of the markets. No better indicator of close EOL than that. If a product retires in one market you can bet that it will retire in the other one within a year in the worst case, but usually only within a few months. Anybody in this game who disregards fluctuations of stocks in other markets as well as retirement neglects vital information from him- or herself, thus potentially making his or her investment decisions less profitable. In a market where information is the most valuable asset disregarding it is not the wisest to do, even if some pieces turn out eventually to be worthless because ignoring all of it leads to overlooking key data in the long run. For example SSD went first in the US. Just assume the reverse scenario for a moment, that SSD went EOL in the EU first. Considering the US is still being the stronger market in terms of reselling activity, so the remaining stocks dry up faster, resulting a shorter time window for acting, which investor would have made more profits? The one who had jumped at EU EOL news and bought a stash at MSRP or the one who had waited out US EOL and bought at $600?

  32. I understand Ed gave his opinion. I just reacted that I did not understand that reselling was an american phenomenom. I do not take it personal at all. Was just an opinion. Offcourse reselling Lego is bigger in the US. Lego reacts to it accordingly. As it does react differently on other continents. I will stop giving my opinion or react on others opinion. It was no harm intended.

  33. Yeah less crying......more buying.

  34. Ed was sharing his opinion. To a few European members, Can we stop with making this personal. Honestly, I respect my European friends, love traveling to Europe (5 visits since 2007) and Lego collectors but honestly, I still couldn't care less about non-US data despite 25% of my sales coming from Europe. However, know who cares about non-US data? JEFF AND ED CARE. Brickpicker currently share news from Euro centric Lego web sites, links, Ads, deals, and oh yeah, the price guide contains non-US sales data. That data is pretty expansive. We also welcome non-US constructive threads. So please cease with getting defensive with the US vs. Euro talk. Brickpicker is by far a very friendly and informative GLOBAL web site. Please keep this thread on-topic.

  35. Don't forget the poor mans Rancor (the rock monster from the Rock Raiders theme)

  36. I am thinking the same way. Keep in mind that Europe always is a bit "behind" on the US. It takes a bit more time here to appreciate. This has advantages but it means we (Europeans) just have to wait a bit longer to sell. In Europe people seem to be a bit more conservative in spending money and they watch the cat from the tree first. If this set will get the retired tag at ShopatHome it will do just fine.

  40. Just wait. Some lego outlets have as much as 80 cases in the stockroom and they are not selling. Same with simpsons house. I used to buy all the box damage ones with the bonus pts and promos and there never ending. If there not selling at that price which amounts to about 155 after the extra points and poly I think there definitely heading down before up. Not saying they wont long term but something that you should see a better price on later on

  41. Exact same deal here: 3.5 year old and a 3.5 month old, plus the wife. In fact, I don't think she realizes to what extent I am into this hobby as everything is tucked away in bins every night...

  44. I think that a lot of investors feared that the SSD would become the new Death star (staying in the place for ever), and prefered to wait for real signs of retirement.

  46. You don't need LEGO when you're stilling moonshine, trapping, hunting, or making babies.

  47. This is a topic for another thread, but buying LEGO on credit is a viable practice...and actually smart at times. Using someone else's money to buy an appreciating asset(especially when bought at a discount) works for many on this site. You just have to be careful not to overextend one's self.
