  6. It's funny to think about though.. Target bigwig: "Johnson! What's the status on our inflated GEs?! We need the profits from those sales to keep our produce and bedsheets alive! Smith! You better be refreshing that Shop at Home page if you wanna keep feeding your family! We're not getting caught with our price at $249 when that product status hits Available Now!"

  8. Yes, I do sell in sets. If I have multiples of a set, why not combine them with another set to create another listing. (...one listing for each item plus a combined set listing.) I do not mark then down one cent b/c I am selling them as a set. Those who buy sets are typically people buying gift sets. (What are the chances you have the exact two sets a collector needs?) It also helps to sell in sets when you have cheap sets but dont want to sell them one at a time to make a few bucks at a time. Combine sets to make a listing worth your time. This approach also helps to make the shipping costs more affordable...who wants to pay 5 bucks for shipping on a 20 dollar item....7 bucks on 50 is more palpable to me as a consumer. Admins can lock this thread...my answer is correct and there really is no need for anymore discussion...Pickleboy has spoken.

  14. I thought it might be fun to have a place to share pictures of the terrible ways we receive our sets (sarcastic thread title), whether it's pancaked sets, oversized boxes, etc. I'll start with my SSDs that arrived a couple days ago: Enormous box: Three sets inside, with no packaging material. Third set is underneath the top two, and was crushed with all 4 seals popped: This box came to me today. What could be inside? A couple Death Stars? 60 Minecraft sets? Nope, just one HH and about a kilometer of air pouches: At least they actually padded this one, and I'll have enough pouches to last a while lol. But of course the set just had to have a hole on the back side...more returning to do. Curious to see others' photos

  15. Ok, I think this mini-set deserves its own topic. I'm not sure that US members are all aware about its existence. Remember the classic LEGO Space

  16. Excellent! Except for Batman, he looks horrible, and I mean that, this version is horrible. Oddly enough, Green Lantern looks very good though.

  17. I'd weigh it. If the weight comes relatively close or within reasonable error, then I see no reason to return it.

  24. Update from Danny's Mom via Facebook: I posted a photo album of all the pictures from today! It took 12 of us to fill up 5 vehicles of cards and packages!!! Danny was so excited and was smiling the whole time. We got to the post office at 4:30 because today was a chemo day and we were in Boston so we got home right in time for the post office!! Danny did great at chemo today, Matthew and Nana came with us. He was full of energy all day and so happy! He played dress up, did music therapy, and played with the play food! We are so incredible blessed by all the love that everyone is showing us! We never thought one small article to the news paper was going to turn into a world wide story for our little hero! We truly cant believe all of the mail that we have received! Thank you everyone! We will be posting more pictures of Danny with all of his cards soon!! And sorry for this being such a late update! I am finally finding 5 minutes to sit and be on the computer! We have been running crazy all day! Love to you all! Goodnight! https://www.facebook.com/dannyswarriors/photos_stream I hope his mom will realize that with such a wonderful response to Danny, maybe Danny can spread the love and give to other children less fortunate. That is a ton (might even be literal) of stuff.

  25. Not too shabby. Someone here on my local area has been trying to sell a sealed set on Craigslist for $230 for some time now. I just picked up Lord Business Evil Lair and Super Cycle Chase via a trade for two Umbaran MHC's (which I got 50% off at Target) plus a couple of CMF's. They're going into my collection.

Apologies for the "threadsurrection", but here's one I thought deserved attention: A fully functional Lego microscope, made completely out of Lego bricks! https://ideas.lego.com/projects/44370 CNET also did an article on it: http://www.cnet.com/news/microscope-built-entirely-out-of-lego-actually-works/

  28. I check every 37 seconds on the off chance that someone lists a Rover at msrp. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out yet. Glad to hear you have another for yourself, having that is pretty special and definitely something to keep

  29. Yes I was fortunate enough to get Stephen's autograph! This really is one of my all time favorite Lego sets. I also have one that I am keeping to display in my personal collection. I have absolutely no idea what it will sell for but I thought I would throw it out there and see what happens. If it doesn't sell through now, it might at Christmas time. I am not in any rush and prepared to bring my expectations down on sell through. But you can always try. Wow you are amazing fast at finding new postings on ebay.

  30. A Billion dollar company that makes their money from clothing, food, and furniture doesn't care about Lego sets. It's not even .001% of their sales. They sell more of their other toys than Lego day in and day. What they have is millions in proprietary software similar to what Amazon/ToysRus/Walmart use that automatically adjusts prices, stock, and inventory on their website and Ebay site. These online venues have little to do with in store pricing.

  33. Big box retailers make their money by moving large amounts of merchandise. It makes little sense for Target to price gauge a handful of GE's. An extra $1200 on those items sold with the $100 markup is nothing to them in the grand scheme of things. Normally they would just sell these at msrp and then move on to the next thing. It's probably either a pricing error (we've seen it go the other way with the MHC), or they're testing the waters with TRU pricing.

  36. TIME OUT I already cop-ed to the offense in this thread and PMed Jeff and Ed an apology, but since this is spiraling out of control I want to address it head on. In the past when someone has asked for numbers Jeff has jumped and provided them. Since someone asked this morning I figured Jeff would run a report. So I thought it would be cute to leave an inside joke easter egg for him to find. I added 800+ GE to my portfolio with a note "Totally not fake". I expected he would see it, giggle, exclude the amount and that would be the end. After seeing the firestorm this has created I completely understand why Ed threw down the warning. I am truly sorry for the out of control discussion this has caused. It was supposed to be a little inside joke and it's spun way out of control. I messed up, I take responsibility, so if anyone is upset about this topic you can direct it at me. I appreciate that Jeff and Ed are protective of the data and try to at least bring sanity to what can sometimes be an insane forum. Please, for the love of god, let the bad data topic die. TIME IN

  43. I posted this elsewhere, but it's relevant to this thread to. I ordered a handful of baseplates from yoyo, they came in a gigantic box. It was full of those air packs, but they were still sliding around a lot on the bottom fo the box. Luckily none were broken.

  44. Here's what I use for my stuff. Any column in red needs the information added manually. Any column header in black has a formula that does the calculation: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f7k5czfn704cuu8/LEGO%20Template.xlsx Couple things...far to the right hand side is where I keep track of individual sales (I have mine broken up 2012, 2013 and 2014). It's very important to enter each sale individually because every time you add a sale to a set's row, the "count" function is used to deduct exactly 1 from remaining inventory. So if you sell 2 same sets in one transaction and try to enter it that way, your final numbers will be off because the spreadsheet thinks you only sold 1 item, not 2. Hope that makes sense. After you've entered in sales data, the profit, etc will also be updated automatically in the middle columns. The tabs near the bottom are used for: ROI keeping track of $ amount spent to purchase sets on a specific date (I used to just update the Main tab's cost column, but it's easier to track this way) quantity of sets purchased on a specific date (again, same as above...Main tab's columns will adjust based on info entered here) supply and operating costs storage unit info (my way of knowing what I have on hand when selling) and finally Brickpicker data which can be manually copied and pasted into that tab from the export of your brickfolio. The only thing you have to do is take out the "-1" after each set number to allow the brickpicker columns on the Main tab to find the info under the Brickpicker tab and calculate them correctly (unrealized gain, etc)....or if you don't want to do that each time, you can add a -1 (or -2, etc...whatever the number is for the brickfolio export) to set #'s in the rest of the spreadsheet...that way would make more sense since it results in no extra work like I currently have to do everytime I update the brickpicker tab to the newest month's numbers Again, LEGO Set # is the ID that connects all the information across the different tabs, so they all need to be exactly identical (whether that's with a -1 or without) for the formulas to work correctly.

  45. some updates since i last posted. Wonder-woman is confirmed for Man of Unsteel 2 along with 'Mark Zuckerberg' and Ben-Bat. http://variety.com/2013/film/news/gal-gadot-wonder-woman-batman-vs-superman-1200918310/ http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20782047,00.html all 3 minifigs in this set will be in the film With the recent wave of lego retirements, i think retailers who restocked this set are on their last batch. i do anticipate it to be retired very soon. i think this set is also still around due to Supes and W-Woman playing a role in The Lego movie. My April 2015 price targets are now different as the movie appears to have been pushed back to May 2016. I now plan to hold onto this set for nearly 2 years after retirement. Hopefully, that means a 1Q 2016 sale (Jan to March). At least a $100 isn't far-fetched- the key is to unload the set before the MOS 2 sets appear.
