  3. All bets are off with the new movies coming out next year. The STAR WARS theme has shown some life of late, with many older sets increasing in value once again. If it is a quality set, new or used, old version or new version, the theme as a whole can explode in value IMO with the added interest from the new movies. STAR WARS fans are passionate. LEGO STAR WARS fans are even more so...

  6. Martin, so true. If these don't sell, the wife will be throwing all these pink boxes at me. Honestly, I never been around so much pink and I have a young daughter. I also dislike the color pink so I probably jinxed myself.

  9. If I were ever to do something like this, I would probably take an existing modular like the Pet Shop and modify it, rather than starting from scratch. IMO, it will save you a lot of hassle and will be easier. If you are the adventurous type, I suppose you could go the long way... In the end, I think you will end up using Pick a Brick or BrickLink anyways, since there aren't enough pieces to make a whole modular.

  11. In our country the IRS loses data on their hard rives and says, "sorry gone, cannot find it oh well not needed anymore right"? I expect they will not be litigated against or thrown in prison for losing data that the NSA has on file and should be easily attained. That is the problem when the rule of law only applies to us minions not our overlords. Sorry Rant over please continue.

  12. I would recommend starting with LDD. It will give you an insight in the pieces you want/need, and then you can see which is the best buying option for the pieces you need.

  14. Then it was in store at TRU we have no sales tax with the sale price of $199 - 20% coupon $160- $10 off $50 coupon x 2 $140-10% with CC = $126 I picked up three at this price. If I would have used Bold Arrows Pro Tip only put $1 on the CC and use GC it would have been $107. Now it is $220 - 25% coupon = 165 - 10% CC = 148.5 - 15% GC = 126 This is Thursday only deal and not sure if price is at $220 or $199 at your store

  15. We try not to let people promote illegal activities, but it is an active forum and it is difficult to catch everything quickly. We depend upon law abiding members such as yourself to educate other members in the proper methods in selling sets and declaring income. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

  16. This set was probably one of the most purchased sets, along with Funhouse, for a period. This set will be a good indicator of LOTR popularity and the future of investing.

  17. Like many, I dislike paying MSRP but couldn't pass up 2 Jabba Palace and 1 Helm's Deep sets even at retail price.

  18. TRU was selling these for $19 right after cyber Monday. Thousands were sold. I stocked up 48 myself and finally dumped my last one last week at $35 plus shipping. Took awhile but I know people who bought around 50 of these. It will be hard to dump these. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  20. It's better not to advise tax evasion, regardless of government. Regardless of what PayPal is required to report, a seller in the U.S. is required to report their income, including income under $20K and 200 transactions. Just as this site doesn't permit posts advocating scamming retailers (buying a set on sale and returning it somewhere else for full price, for example), I wish they would also not permit posts encouraging people to cheat on their taxes.

  21. Yeah I have talked to USPS until I am blue. They don't care. I mean, the couple in my town I go to seem to do ok, but there is a distribution center in Birmingham that is awful. And I have called and talked to them and they just say "sorry" after looking up the tracking and say that maybe it will turn up. When I talk to supervisor, they just tell me there is nothing more they can do. Packaging I changed some already to account for some damages I was getting. I am not sure how much better I could do there. I don't think they are getting lost because of that. I thought about using just bigger packaging so maybe it doesn't get stuck places? Tough because we are talking about a big expense, but maybe it would be worth it?

  22. Despite the style of his posts, Alcarin and I have been doing several successful transactions since some time last year. He seems to know very well what LEGO sets/parts are available in his area and their prices. IIRC he does not reach out to me unless he knows for sure he cannot get the item locally or can get them cheaper from somehwere else. Btw, I have not seen that piece at PAB wall around here.

  26. People in Detroit just rip the stuff open and take. Never come across a reseal but I have checked the seals pretty good when something looks shelf worn. Detroit - we aren't subtle we just plow through. But you have to hit the walmart because the 50% discounts is just too much to pass on. There are only a few other "collectors" that I know of that are hitting the same rounds that I am but we are all just buyers. No one has sstarted done the path of stealing and returning. But honesty is a funny thing - I got a few extra simpson minifig packs in my cart by accident and I went through self checkout so I didn't ring them up. Found them later when I counted the packs and I went back and paid for them. I sleep better at night knowing I paid for them. Just becasue you can steal doesn't mean you should but there are way too many out there who do. Sorry, some people just suck but what they put in the world is what they are going to get back. Karma.

  28. I dump it out right on the carpet. Every piece I can't find I yell at my dog thinking she ate it. I then find it. I don't apologize.

  29. So I've picked up a few of these at the $70 Walmart discount thinking these will be a good investment. So I was crusing around the LEGO Shop at Home site and decided just for fun to check them out. Put one in my cart and tested to see how many it would let me buy and I could put it up to 99! Even getting through the cart to checkout phase! I tried a bunch of other items and non would go higher than 5. I'm thinking about returning them. Someone talk me down!

  30. No one is stocking up on it? LOL. I think it is the opposite as I am sure most investors will have at least one of these. I certainly acquire them in bunches. I flip them quickly but am putting a pile aside for when it goes EOL. This set will be all gravy IMO
