  1. Craiglist is fine for what it is: The Wild West of internet buying and selling. The protections are non-existent, so use common sense and observe reasonable safety precautions. I don't bother with it for LEGO, buying or selling, because the time sink isn't worth it to me and frankly I'm not fond enough of strangers to want to hear their extremely uninteresting life stories every time I buy or sell something.

  4. You can ask them to remove the low rating and chance are good they will if the buyer left feedback that is in direct conflict with the low rating. Re: the post office, we've had more problems this year with them than ever before - not enough to get us near a 2% defect rating, but I am not happy at all with the trend of their service right now, either. And, everyone else is spot on - buyers have to become expert eBay users and contortionists in order to AVOID opening a case when all they mostly want to do is ask a question. Fix the things you can fix - you should not be switching packages, that's fixable with your in-house procedures. Use packing slips, match them to labels, and triple-check yourself throughout the shipping process. The fact that the buyers with the switched package both dinged you for not-as-described is pure bad luck - most buyers are pretty reasonable if you get the right stuff to them even after a mistake. You can try going up the chain of command at the post office - don't stop with the supervisor, tell him you want to talk to the regional supervisor, and if he won't help you do that, call the post office main number. Will it help? No idea. I haven't -quite- got to the point of being frustrated enough to try it. And, if you are looking for lower fees (comparable to what you are getting with TRS plus) and less stringent seller standards, you're not going to be happy at Amazon. They are more expensive even if you lose TRS plus; and if you screw up there, you are permanently done. Don't even consider it until and unless you've sorted out your postal and in-house mis-fulfillment issues, is my advice. I've had TRS and TRS plus since each of them started. I have a high enough volume to absorb occasional mistakes by me or the post office or buyers who don't read. But it would not shock me to find I don't keep TRS plus all the time under the new defect system. It's amazing how quickly it can all go pear-shaped.

  6. Duck Brand HP260 High Performance Packaging Tape 480 Yards - $19.99 Shipped - ***LOWEST PRICE*** Link: http://www.amazon.com/Duck-Perfor...rand+HP260 ^^ Best price in about 3 years according to CCC. This is without a doubt the best tape I've ever used. If you don't use that much tape, buy this. It will be a lifetime supply. If you package boxes, you can't beat this deal for performance and price! This is clear tape.

  7. I said push, not insist Of the 50 or so CL transactions I have done, about 45 were at their house and 5 in a parking lot. I havent had a deal fall through due to meeting location problems. That said ... No deal is worth a CL crazy knowing where I live.

  8. At the least, the Duck one mentioned above is heavy duty (3.1 mil), your scotch one is light duty - 2.4 mil you would have to be comparing with this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000087KUA

  10. Much like his line of action figures, all the realistic details are there right down to the tiniest bit making them look impressive at a scale model level and a better looking quality than Mega Bloks easily. However unlike Lego and perhaps Mega Bloks, these 'bricks' of McFarlane will yield little use outside of the build they were originally created for. I can somewhat understand his impression about when getting closer to a build using the 'other' brick brands that the overall image may lose its overall illusion and start appearing like a bitmap especially when looking at a mosaic or Minecraft set for example but part of the beauty behind Lego is finding interesting ways of creating that illusion. The means of tricking a spectator's mind into believing the build is anything but just a bunch a bricks stuck together. I will commend him for trying something different than the competitors and implementing such detail into a small toy but these aren't much more than a glorified model kit minus the glue.

  11. Re: Paying with PayPal on CL, I have used PayPal (via my phone) to pay after I see the condition of the merchandise. If it's not okay, or in bad shape, you don't hit the "Pay" button and leave with only your time lost. Since transactions happen fast, you can wait a minute for the person to be funded and then leave with the merchandise once they have confirmed funding. The only downside for the seller is that they pay the PP fee.

  12. You can set minimum buys. Yes, it does drive some customers away, but some sellers find it worth it. We have no minimum buy. Orders under $10 are unusual, orders under $5 almost non-existent (we do get a few). Basically postage charges are going to prevent most buyers from the "two tile" scenario most of the time, unless they REALLY need those two tiles. They're going to want to order more so that it's worth it for them on the postage charges.

  13. Wait... are you saying... The good old days weren't always good Tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems Me and Billy Joel agree. While there will probably sometime be a serious competitor to eBay and while eBay (like most companies) sometime might die off, those sorts of predictions are much like the flavor of the month Y2K/Mayan Calendar prophecies - there's always somebody claiming The End is Near. Sometime, one of them will accidentally be correct, but that doesn't make them a prophet.

  14. Most likely the same guy who I wrote about in another post. Seems like this person is very patient and still makes money and regardless of the AD being up for awhile knows this site and other lego sites. Makes me so mad, that if it is the same person still making 600 or so a week doing this and has listings all over the country since we tipped them off on these forums. The sad thing is that they will most likely get that 800 and not by one of us but some buyer who really wants the set and thinks they are tricking them in a lower offer and getting away with it. I learned from this site what to watch out for on craigslist etc and am grateful. So the moral is try to warn people and hope they don't get taken, even with the warnings from craigslist not to use shipping and local only

  23. July 20 we will know better. If they ship backorders and don't bring availability up, and the codes on the shipped units are still 18R4, then we are back to square one (i.e. we have no idea what's next). If they ship backorders and bring up availability, and codes are newer, then we are back to square zero (i.e. new production run). If they ship USA backorders with 24S4 codes (redistribution of the leftover stock), then it could maybe possibly be a sign of EOL

  26. Investors would catch on to the fact that Lego isn't retiring anything and will stop buying. I don't think Lego is willing to dedicate production capacity to exploit the buying habits of investors, which is a relatively small number of buyers. Investors have absolutely no influence over Lego's production schedule. Most large companies have their production levels planned years in advance anyway.
