  2. My family bought me Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! for my birthday last week. I finished building it today at lunch (working at home.. extended lunch ). It's pretty cool even if it does deviate quite a bit from the traditional space Lego sets. There are a lot of technic pins and modern building techniques but lots of traditional pieces too. I might just have to pull out my old space lego... I've been holding out on the kids.

  4. I just moved this post from the SSD thread Like Ed mentions, we talk about subscription options all the time. I personally am a huge fan of it and would love to have it in place right now, but like Ed talked about, we want to make sure that it is a no brainer for people to want to sign up. Personally I think there is a lot here already and by adding a paid subscriber only area on the site would benefit many. If you don't want to subscribe, that is ok, there will still be plenty here for you, but having those funds would allow me to do a lot with this site. I have too many ideas, not enough time. If anyone thinks that Ed and I like asking people to click links, believe me, we really don't. But clicking the links is not really much to ask of people, it is free to them and helps us big time. Many don't click any or most use other programs to collect money for themselves which is why starting a subscription option of this site will 100% unavoidable. Do you know how many Armored Lex's we need to sell through the site to pay for just the monthly server fees? I can tell you, it would be a lot. Below are just a few screenshots of the work I have been doing for a while and to back up Ed's statements that a lot has been going on. A big focus was on mobile/tablets. The amount of users on this site using those devices is always growing and this will make the experiences that much more enjoyable and usable. Pages are very easy to read on mobile devices which they currently are not. Brick Classifieds and Daily Deals/Discount hunting was of course major factors in this redesign. We know that is what many are looking for, so we will continue with tools and features to make that be more beneficial for you. Will some new features get locked behind a premium service. Probably... Down at the bottom is finally a screenshot of Brick Classifieds. Just wanted to show so that you didn't think we have been lying to you LEGO Discounts LEGO News LEGO Reviews Brickfolio LEGO Blog Brick Classifieds

  6. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, we are ending the Brickpoints program here on Brickpicker. Ending Brickpoints was both and easy and a hard decision for Ed and I. We really like the points program and have generated dozens of ideas for how to earn them and how to spend them. Of course Brickpoints was going to play a large focus in Brick Classifieds until we really started to ask the questions of how we wanted to do things in the future. Getting feedback, seeing what people are doing on the site all start to help you make changes and move in a new direction. Points are great, but most people really like payment of real tangible items. Moving forward, we would also like to try and make certain things more streamlined in simple for new members. This does not mean that we are done rewarding people for helping to build the community. As I mentioned in a prior post, we want to try and keep focused and work with members to build solid content. Helping the site can earn you gift cards, possibly free subscriptions to premium content when that appears or depending on how well Brick Classifieds is doing, you can get bonus time on the home page as a featured vendor or free advertising on the site to help boost your store exposure. There will be plenty of options that will help make your LEGO life just a little better. Below is a list of members that achieved at least 5,000 Brickpoints. I will be contacting each of the members and sending the an Amazon Gift Card Code to you via PM/Email. 8. hi, can the "What Lego set did you sell today?" thread be moved to the "members only" portion of the forum? if so, maybe the " Investing Forum" forum? this way, our sale posts won't be public for prying eyes (especially from google searches). not that registering takes much effort... just a suggestion. http://community.brickpicker.com/topic/771-what-lego-set-did-you-sell-today/

  9. You know, this set could pair with more than just the Fairground Mixer. For example, you could probably also pull off the top half of the balloons, and then pair the balloon cart with the Flying Flusher, and it's now a plunger cart...

I'm surprised we didn't get more entries, considering that the prize is a free 120 dollar Lego set and people will drive 30 miles to score a 30 dollar set at 50% off. I guess this shows how far the World Cup can grow with the many USA-based users, many of whom probably saw "FIFA" and skipped to the next thread. Their loss! NOTHING in sports compares to the drama and excitement of the World Cup. And I'm a Midwestern guy who likes baseball and American football. Luckily, some of my friends attended some games when the Cup was in Germany and their excitement spread to me. Other than the USA, I tend to root for Uruguay (Suarez and Forlan were very entertaining last time) and Netherlands. I like the fact that a first-time winner won last time, Spain. I'm ready to watch the ESPN preshow in 1.5 hours, and the game after that. HAVE FUN!!!

  11. So I was at my local target in Richmond, BC and saw pretty much all Chima 50% off including cragger command ship (49.99), combat lair (44.99), etc. Select Ninjago sets were 50% off too, like Garmatron for 24.99. But... YMMV

  17. Personally, I would not pay over retail to get this -as an investment-. It may come back in stock and you can purchase one then. In my opinion, if you are looking at large sets then a better use of your money is to get 2.5 modulars. You can't buy everything and I don't think it is prudent to chase profits by paying such a hefty premium for that privilege. Of course, I hope it comes back in stock in limited quantities so I can add one more to my pile. For those people who buy this in stores, ask for a box. I have found Lego stores to be quite accommodating and as the set also fits in a seacow box, it becomes easy to get a suitable box for shipping. Ex Astris, Scientia.

  22. I'm 1/2 hour from him. I saw it when it was listed yesterday. I was actually thinking of contacting him and telling him to check BL but, I figured I would come across looking like a jerk. It seems the more I get involved with Legos, the more I run across former Enfield, Ct employees. I believe one of my summer neighbors is a long time Lego employee. I think next time I see him I will causally interrogate him.

  29. Well a lot has been going on in the past 24 hours. Certain things are still a mess and I still have a bit of clean up to do. I don't believe that the site has propagated around the world yet, so there are probably a bunch of users that are not able to see the site yet. Hopefully by tomorrow, that will be done and everyone will be back on. Even though things aren't the way I want them, this becomes a good time for me to start making changes that were planned in the future. Here are a few updates: eBay/Price Guide Data: Well I finally learned that the main eBay site and all of it's global sites did a bunch of category changes and did not notify it's third party companies like Terapeak. We are not the only ones that are waiting on data. I was told it is of course a top priority and I will let you know when I actually get it. Brickpoints: Ed and I have decided that we will be discontinuing the Brickpoints program. Brick Classifieds will not rely on Brickpoints. For those of you that are over 5,000 points, we will be in touch to give options and claim some set, gift card or something you will appreciate for all your hard work. Wordpress: I officially hate Wordpress Wordpress has been hosting our blog articles, but it has been a nightmare with the logins and just an extra added server and cost. Blogs will be converted to a simple CMS that I have created and content will created by a group of editors. Moving forward, we will be working on focused content. Brick Classifieds: I need to settle this server stuff first, but I think there may be a shot that a few may get access at the end of the week or next weekend. Site Update: For a while I have been working on a site update that will focus more on what people come here to see and getting it ready for the classifieds. We know most are interested in The forum, Daily Deals, other discounts, classifieds, Brickfolio, etc. It will be more simple, easier to view on mobile devices and by removing some of the extra stuff it should be a more enjoyable experiences. Now will this server blowup, you might start to see some of these updates creep their way in sooner rather than later. We appreciate everyones patience.

  32. Hit up both of my TRU and came away with 4 space centers and 5 Comanche camps. Got the space centers down to $42.51 after tax (42% off) with the Thursday 10% credit card promo and the Comanche camps down to $8.85 each after tax (58% off) after the 10% credit promo and $10 worth of rewards coupons. I was hoping to stumble upon some Jabbas palace or helms deep, but I knew that was wishful thinking since both of my stores have been sold out of those for months. The two sets I got were the only clearance items either store had.

  38. Another alternative to using road plates is building your road with 1x? pieces build like a wall, the placed on its side. Then you can elevate the buildings by one brick and a plate or two, and you get a nice curb. See image below to get a better idea.

  39. You coming down with a case of flipping fever?? Gotta look at the big picture homie. Only a few sales away from $70, and only 2-3 pages of listings on ebay (I cannot see backend amazon data but it's selling for $72). Is it $100 by Christmas? Probably not. But $70-80 is a fantastic return for only a year and a lot of what makes this set unique only gets more rare as time goes on. An extra bonus is price should continue to rise as people buy towers and look to complete the scene. There is still a lot going for this set in my opinion. This is one of the few investment sets I own and I am very happy with it so far. People need to be realistic with their return expectations.

  44. I think the average collector has plenty of minifigs lying around that can move into these homes. I think they actually work well with the CMFs, as some have props that can help decorate a home and you can match different characters to appropriate houses. I think 1-2 minifigs per set is more than enough, but I would definitely prefer a higher piece count and cooler build to more minifigs.
