  1. This thread is for confirmed "Retired Product" status updates as per Lego.com official website. I decided to create this thread as somewhere to keep track of confirmed EOL dates as per Lego "Retired Product" tags. Leaving the other thread for rumors and speculation (I have been through all 75 pages and pulled any confirmed retirement dates in to here). The "Retired Product" status can be found on Lego.com by searching for "Retired Product", this link should take you there: http://search-en.lego.com/?q=Retired+Product&cc=US Yes a "Retired Product" tag does not mean the set cannot be found at other retailers, but it is an official confirmation that the set is EOL (End of Line) at Lego and that future production and sales have been halted (there may be some exceptions to this and we can never say Lego will never ever bring them back). I'd like to keep this list updated and populated with any changes, so please post them (for the US based Lego Shop at Home only please). Because the Lego.com site does not have a date when a set is retired I have used the latest stock availability date as recorded at Brickset.com. On the Lego site many sets get a "Sold Out" tag and/or a "retiring soon" tag, then at some arbitrary time they get a "Retired Product" tag. If we think about it, the actual date of retirement is the date it goes "out of stock" for the last time. As such I'd like to start capturing set's "Sold out" status dates as well, but that can be a phase 2 project. So for now if you spot a new "Retired Product" post it below. This is a table of the most recent few months. Attached at the bottom is a full Excel spreadsheet with all the sets I could get from Lego.com. I hope you find it useful or interesting. 2. Just a warning to people: As of now, everyone knows about the Ebay breach. A sad thing that unfortunately comes out of this is all the "Script kiddies" who jump on the back of big data breaches like this to prey on people's fears and make a buck (a script kiddie is basically someone who considers themselves a hacker, but sort of does basic things to piggyback onto others exploits, or can only take advantage of an easy situation) SO, watch for Ebay email alerts, and especially Paypal ones. People will make fake emails (email is insanely easy to spoof and manipulate) saying "Warning your account has been breached!" or something of that nature, with a link to change a password. This can trick a lot of people into clicking embedded links that install code on your machine that can do all sorts of things to keylog and steal all your passwords, or install a crap load of spyware on your PC. So basically, I would watch for the following: 1. Don't click on or act on an Ebay message via Email. Only do it from "My Ebay". 2. Don't do anything with Paypal except from the Website while logged in. Sadly, stuff like this happens all the time and the people on the backend of a breach end up doing almost as much damage as the people who stole all the data.

  6. You can't hold a buyer's feedback "hostage" on eBay like you can on other sites, because you can't leave him a negative or a negative-sounding positive, period. So, you can either leave him no feedback or an actual positive (it can be something like, "Thank you for shopping with us" which is all I ever leave, I think the feedback that goes "Best buyer ever! OMG! I want to have his e-Babies!!!" is stupid anyway.) In the future, tell the buyer what it's actually going to cost in postage. Nebulous questions, "Do you combine shipping?" aren't helped by nebulous answers, "Sure!" I ask what items they're looking at, and I give them a total shipping cost before they bid. It takes a few extra minutes but avoids this very problem. Re his potential 8 negatives, depending on what he says, they may be eligible for removal. The deed is done for now, you'll have to wait and see. Edited to add: By the way, when I get warning that a buyer is overly needy and/or unreasonable, I generally add them to my blocked bidder list. It sounds like the warning signs on this guy may have been there with his many questions, so another thing to consider for future. If your spidey senses are tingling and telling you someone's trouble, listen to them.

  9. Shocker that a bunch of guys (not talking about this forum, but the haters in general) don't like a set aimed at little girls. From an investor's standpoint, i see great potential in getting 51% of the planet more interested in lego sets (and not just the princessy, or hang out at the mall and get our hair done type sets).

  18. Nothing wrong with it, it's a cute set, but it's nothing special, and as a female-type I will say that forced feminism makes me feel like somebody's unwanted quota. Does the next one feature an office scene with all African Americans? ("Look kids, I know nobody knew this, but women CAN be scientists! And people of color can work in office jobs! Who knew?!") It just seems strange that this is the design they decided was "best" this time around. Maybe they want in on some of that meth lab LEGO market and this is how they decided they could do it.

  30. Brickfanatics.com thinks the $99 10226 Sopwith Cemel is done this summer. Now that I think about it, kinda makes since for the $120 10220 VW van stays around after the $99 Mini Cooper arrives. Although a great build and display, 10226 seems under appreciated. http://brickfanatics.co.uk/more-rumors-on-the-ucs-sets/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+brickfanatics+%28Brick+Fanatics%29

  34. Who is this "Gollum" you speak of...? I have used shipitto a few times. Their service has been excellent each time and had no hassles. Pricey though as a buyer so I don't tend to use if if I don't have to and plus many US retailers have banned shipping to freight forward company address for various reasons. They do that by the address but as well as trying to make non-US people have a credit card billing address that is US based as well which is a bit trickier. I've always had the stance that the original seller has responsibility to ship in good condition to the freight forwarder and that's it. After that it's out of their hands. Shipitto provide photos of the shipment as it arrives at their warehouse so the buyer can inspect them. If there looks to be damage they can ask for the goods to be shipped back to the supplier or be open for further inspection (think it has a fee for that though). If you have doubts you could always ask the buyer for those photos or at least make it clear that shipping from you to the warehouse is all the responsibility that you are obligated for.

  35. Thats a rough flip though. Probably 50-75$ in fees and then 30-40$ shipping. You would have to sell it for $600 to really get some decent money out of it. Making less than $100 is tough ROI on a $400 set.

  41. And not Walmart! Look at this behemoth that arrived today: And inside we have two SSDs, with a third one suffocating underneath and a distinct lack of any padding whatsoever: Top two made it out ok surprisingly...bottom one not so much: Because shipping 50lbs of Lego in an oversized box with zero packaging material is a brilliant idea. Does Walmart do partial refunds for shipping damage? The busted open one is going back regardless but it'd be nice to get some money back on the other two. Edit: quick opinion question- '> These two boxes have these large scuff marks along the top, and some minor creasing. Worth returning? I'm thinking no

  44. I know it has been partially mentioned, in the SSD thread, but I thought I'd give more detail than has been shared. For all those who have been counting on retiring of the SSD or hoping for the DS to retire - Page 1, 2 and 3 of the Summer Catalog is full page color spreads of the new Sandcrawler. Page 4 - Top 2/3 of page is the SSD in beautiful full color background with the Grey ship (and if we note what someone said about Rev 5 of the boxes) while I bought some and want it to, I think it is not going anywhere any time soon. Long term still great investment. Page 5 - Top 2/3 of page is the DS in beautiful full color background with the grey Death Star. Page 6 - Half page Red X Wing UCS, Quarter Page R2 D2 I do notice the AT TE is not shown. Also noticeable is: 0 Hobbit items showing 0 LOTR items showing 0 Iron Man showing No Bat Cave and No Daily Bugle Showdown (or whatever its official title is) No Grand Emporium and as previously mentioned No Sopwith Camel Yes VW T1 showing If I missed a photo on one please let me know. They have so many themes now though they can't list everything of any theme it seems as if they expanded the catalog size it would add to much overhead cost. This with the Amazon sales makes me think (pure speculation): - Most LOTR and Hobbit Movie 1 sets are on the way out now - SSD/DS around until at least end of year - GE is going but who knows when - Sopwith is gone sooner than others (going to buy my 4 soon) - VW T1 around until at least end of year I find it interesting that the Brick Show (which I love) had the confirmation on the SSD being gone but this thing gets a 2/3 page fill up on page 4 of the catalog. Printing and marketing costs too much to fill page 4 with the clearance set for the purpose of clearance without saying it. Combined with Rev 5, I think its on its way back for a while. The new Movie I believe will want all new branding on all new Movie related boxes so I do not believe they are keeping it around for it as a centerpiece of the new Movie sets. That's my theorization or the day.

  47. Raise your prices, do free shipping. Don't sell anything that you would take a loss on if you send it across the earth. Believe me it will help. Then there is no bitching about combined shipping. I will give people a dicount on items through Best Offer if they buy multiple but it certainly isn't required.
