  1. As the release of the Brick Classifieds feature nears, we wanted to add a new forum dedicated to it. This will be the place that we will make announcements and updates regarding Brick Classifieds. One of the first announcements I am going to make is that I am looking for some members that have the time and really want to post on Brick Classifieds. Overall we are looking for an initial group of people that devote time to help populate the site with real listings. When we open the site to the rest of group, we want you to be able to see instantly how it will look and feel. I would really like to invite members who have no less than 30-50 sets and/or minifigures that they will be willing to take new photos and put in solid details. Remember, the #1 rule of this site is that you need to upload at least one real photo of the actual set(s) you will be selling. No stock photos will be allowed unless accompanied by an actual photo of the item being sold. We will go over these rules more as I create a Brick Classifieds (Beta) forum to discuss and issues or concerns. The first phase of the release of Brick Classifieds will be mostly about loading the site with listings. That without a doubt is key to getting the site recognition. As we have mentioned before all listings will be FREE during a beta period which will probably be a few months long. Ed and I have had many discussions about what our goal is with this site. Our overall feelings have been that it should be an extremely easy to use system for posting sets. Those of you that are familiar with eBay should feel right at home here. Much of the concept of adding/buying items and posting feedback is almost the same. It's simple. Nothing here will blow your mind as far as features go. It's meant to be simple but effective. As time goes on, more features will be added when we feel that they will make the most impact. If you have 30 or more items that you would like to post and have the time to put in solid effort in creating good listings so that everyone can get an idea for what the site will be like, please send me a PM or post in here. Sometime in the next week or so I will invite you into a Private Beta forum. One special note that we would like to put out there is that we have decided to allow everyone to create a new account. It will not initially be tied to your Brickpicker account in anyway. So for those of you that are concerned about all the BS that has been going on, you can start fresh here. For those of you that don't care about all this, you can use your BP username so that people will know who you are and feel confident. For many of you I think this can be a huge benefit. As I open up new features for sales with the Brickfolio, there will be a hook that will tie accounts together privately if you wish. We will get into this more later, but just wanted to put it out there. Over the next few days, we will talk more about features, show screenshots, etc. We appreciate you being patient, but hopefully by getting it going now, I can start to get marketing going and help everyone have a great holiday season this year

  2. The request for a photo of each item is the best way to stop fraudulent activity in our opinion. As a buyer of over 800 LEGO sets, displays, minifigures, etc... on eBay, I can tell you that I look for actual seller photos when buying or bidding on an item, unless the seller feedback is exceptional. Since we don't have any seller feedback yet, the real photos will help weed the jerks out. That being said, here's what we expect: For minifigures or small sets that people have mass quantities of...Take a picture of the whole lot of items to show that you actually own them. An individual picture of the box/polybag would be nice as well, but I don't expect you to take a 100 separate pictures of a Series 5 CMF for example. For larger sets, I would suggest separate listings, unless all the boxes are similar in condition. Even then, you should show buyers a picture of all the sets to build confidence in your listing. Obviously, the more expensive the set, the better the pictures and description should be. Over time, when people begin to build enough feedback and the site matures, we will bend the rules for great sellers. We are just starting out and the photo request is a good way to stop fraud. I want members to realize we are going to give people ample opportunity to sell their sets for free or dirt cheap fees. All we ask is that people put some effort into their listings so we can give others a good idea what the site is capable of.

  3. Saw this & thought they are a cool cross over. They also have Let's Go. Had me smiling. What does brickpicker make of this move by Mattel. Will Lego's minifigs be living life in the fast lane? Or will it be the pitlane for Mattel's lane crossing?... Regards Alpha. (Mods can I can a spelling correction on the title please? & Thank you. Compatible not compatiable)

  4. The argument against the 10188 is that it is a childish set and was never designated as a UCS set. It is not accurate in appearance or proportion. Same goes for the Ewok Village and Sandcrawler. Sorry, the Sandcrawler is a nice set, but it certainly isn't UCS quality in my eyes. LEGO did the entire line a disservice by adding the little hokey gold emblem on the box stating it's a UCS set. LEGO really cheesed out on the Sandcrawler UCS set IMO. It's better than the first version, but a proper UCS Sandcrawler should have been 5000 pieces or more. They threw on the corny UCS emblem to increase sales. There is also something to be said about a classy looking box and set. All you have to do is look at the classic box from the 7191 UCS X-Wing and compare it to the boring looking UCS Red 5 X-Wing box. No comparison. The sets are similar, but the 7191 looks more valuable. To me, LEGO really missed a golden opportunity to make a truly iconic theme of LEGO sets. They should have made all the UCS boxes in a similar fashion to the Architecture boxes, black and classy with the STAR WARS emblem standing out in a glossy gold color. The could include a quality instruction booklet with each set, that has a professional look and feel(like the AS book). Each set should always include a plaque. The UCS series could have expanded to other types of adult oriented models as well.

  5. This is my stock answer to that question. Rebuild the set and take 12 very good pictures from different angles. Take the set apart and put in zip lock bags. Look at sold listings on eBay and chose a good Buy It Now price based on past sales. Once it sells put in a good box and ship. The smaller the box the better. No need to sort by color unless you are that OCD.

  7. No you are making too much of this. Just like ebay you will be able to say you have a quantity of 5. Take a group shot and thats it. Then if someone buys one, it will just say that you have 4 left, no need for a new photo. The goal here is to show people that you really have what you are trying to sell. We are trying to build trust. Yes there is a re-list and a list similar option if you need to post the same but slightly different listing.

  8. Jeff, I can participate in the Beta with minifigs (don't have sets), but I have a concern regarding "stock photos" - For eBay, for example, I take a representative photo of the minifigs I have (i.e, Gandalf the White with Staff), but if I have 5 of those to sell, I don't take five different photos and create five different listings for each one. If they're new, I'm basically creating my own "stock" photo and using it for all my Gandalf the Whites. I don't know whether folks with multiples of sets would feel the same way, at least regarding sets in the same condition (they have three mint sets, three with a crease or two, etc. - are they to take six different photos and make six listings?) Thanks for clarifying.

  12. I took some pictures but I'm not very good. The train was black, I'm a little disappointed. We kept its coming as a secret not be bored with people crossing tracks but 50 people still knew it and came to look at it. The train really uses a LOT of water, half an hour to fill the water tank with a water pomp. The biggest surprise for me was that the train was able to move backwards at a "high" speed, about 80km/**** (50mph)

  13. Lol, why is anyone worrying about the names so much? This is a silly "name a fake LEGO ship" contest, not a historically accurate research project. If you like a name, vote for it. It doesn't seem like there should be lobbying for or against certain choices regardless of your thoughts on it.

  15. Rarity matters. The 10030 is "rarer" than the 10221, the idea of more collectors can be debated. Don't you think all these collectors will want a 10030 as well as a 10221? I stated the 10221 should end up slightly higher in dollar value than the 10030, but only because of the starting price. In reality, the long term ROI and CAGR of the 10030 will probably be higher after all is said and done IMO.

  16. For ebay I post a pic of the set completed and pics of the set broken down into zip lock bags. I always break the sets down, I don't think people want to buy built sets.

  18. The poster doesn't say UCS sets, it says "ultimate" . There are 4 or 5 sets on there that are not UCS sets. The 10188 is not a UCS set. Period.

  22. Received my five White Houses from 2nd and Charles. Three in a LEGO box, two in another LEGO box. All mint. It's probably the most surprised I've been when ordering something that actually came through like this.

  23. Assuming it hasn't already been chosen, I would think a figure would come from Guardians of the Galaxy most likely. Just because the time and release of the movie might make sense.
