  1. Materials guide for LEGO selling & shipping Many members have asked for a centralized place where they can go for shipping box information. I'm going to pin this post and update it as new information is provided. I just want to take a few minutes and thank those who wrote the following articles. They are still very good reference materials for the LEGO storage and shipping process. I may develop this into a blog article eventually. 5. re Bricklink: around Jan when Lego had the VWC on sale for $80 I wanted one and had to call Lego CS as they had the call for availability tag on their website. Lady said that they were OOS, would not restock then she suggested I check a website called bricklink as they sell Lego stuff.

  6. Considering it's their prerogative who they sell to I think you'll be wasting your time going down the legal route. If you live in the States you have other options so it's not like it's that big of a deal

  7. Hi all. Seems like a good idea to change our passwords, since multiple sources are reporting this morning that eBay has confirmed a cyber attack and will be requesting users to change passwords. From here: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ebay-asks-users-to-change-passwords-after-cyberattack-2014-05-21 EBay asks users to change passwords after cyberattack NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- EBay Inc. EBAY -1.85% said Wednesday it will ask its users to change passwords after a cyberattack that compromised a database containing encrypted passwords. The online auctioneer said it has no evidence that the attack led to unauthorized access to financial or credit-card information but is working with law-enforcement and security experts. "Changing passwords is a best practice and will help enhance security for eBay users," the company said in a statement. Shares were down 1.4% in premarket trade.

  11. I wonder how many of these 20k members are active. It must be quite a few by looking at the "online within the last 20 min" list at the bottom of the page, but 20k members doesn't mean 20k active members (say, active within the last few weeks or so). I also didn't want to cause panic or something. Using the affiliate links is quite probably safe. And as far as I know nobody got banned because of an account on BP yet.

  12. I'm trying to figure out why so many people think that just because the mini is coming out that the T1 has to go. Is there some rule I don't know about that says there can only be a certain number of vehicle sets out?

  18. YMMV - Technically no, on the coupons (and all coupons should work this way) it says you need to surrender the coupon. However many members have had success using scans or just giving the coupon codes. Remember each coupon can only be used once per Rewards R Us account - that is something flagged in the system. Not that anyone listens to my pleas for restraint, but I urge members to use a little discretion with this stuff. Remember the golden eggs. We've had posts about the dangers of dropshipping, someone needs to write one up about the dangers of coupon abuse.

  19. If a license agreement is non-exclusive, which means that the seller sells it to multiple buyers then a dynamic license agreement is very likely. Fix fee for the first X years and/or a share from all sales, and after the years only the share remains. This is beneficial to both parties, because in this case they can produce exactly as long as the demand is satisfactory, and the licenser has nothing to do just receive the contribution. We don't know what type of agreement LEGO has. And lots of people forget the benefits of the licenser aside the fee. SW is profitable because of the merchandise mostly, and in that case the movies sell the merchandise. VW produces cars, it has no direct interest in profits from toy sales. In fact, VW toys carry a very strong marketing value. If I were a car company, I would give these licenses for free for such a quality partner as LEGO. Don't forget that nowadays car companies pay huge sums to Hollywood for product placement. In summary, speculation about certain license agreements is pointless, especially the ones which represent companies not living from merchandise.

  20. I`d wait till closer to Christmas or just after, which has been argued to be the better time to sell. Also, at this point I`d assume you`ve doubled or money on them, so you could sell 2-3 and recoup that invested capital then hold the remaining a while longer. The set has seen the bulk of it`s growth already, but honestly it`s likely to keep going up, though at a slower pace.

  23. I have bought hundreds of sets through LEGO S@H through the years. I don't order 10 of this and 20 of that. I mix it up and stay within their limits. Many people on this site will lie and say,"Oh, I only bought 3 sets!!!." Nonsense. They want the sympathy from other members, but 9 times out of ten, they bought something in mass quantities that triggered the ban.

  24. People are not getting banned for being members of Bricklink, Brickpicker, Brickset, BrickOwl...They are getting banned for being Brickbrains and buying multiples on LEGO [email protected] exceeding the limits set. People are not being selectively targeted unless something in their buying history is audited. It is then a LEGO rep probably looks deeper into a customer's history and might find a connection to a store on eBay, BrickOwl or Bricklink. Either way, it is not the end of the world to be banned from LEGO S@H. The best discounts are found elsewhere.

  28. We sell a lot of LEGO for LEGO. That is the truth. Jeff and I have no idea about how LEGO actually feels about us as a site, but being that we are the biggest promoters of their product on the planet Earth, I'm sure they like us at least a little bit. LOL. On a serious note, LEGO likes to protect their brand and many LEGO sites and retailers have a love/hate type of relationship with them. They are not always clear as to what they really want from affiliates, consumers or small retailers. You would think they would love the reseller because they buy a ton of their products, yet there are many reasons why LEGO is leery of resellers. Affiliate plans are not run by LEGO directly, so I guess they can have their cake and eat it too. They can have us promote their product and then ban people for reselling and parting out sets to resell, so they can look good to Moms and Dads who can't buy a Minecraft set for their kids. As I have stated before, we have heard from LEGO directly in an interview(about us) that was done a year or so ago and they don't mind the small time reseller and investor...basically, the person who buys 2-3 sets...one to build, a couple to resell at a latter time. I guess they have issues with people who buy large quantities at a discount to resell in direct competition to them or their retailers. Those people they would rather shift to their own marketing program, which requires a brick and mortar store, no exclusives, and other requirements. Is this hypocritical, I guess in some ways it is, but I truly do not know the real impact that resellers of LEGO sets and parts has on LEGO and their future. As for Bricklink, they have always been a niche type of site, very busy, but kinda under the radar. With these new owners, who knows how this will affect TLG's view of that site and its members.

  31. Funny, Jeff and I were just talking about this situation the other day. There was a post in the Bricklink forums which mentioned people getting banned on Bricklink. One of the posts mentioned Brickpicker as one of LEGO's targets. I said if you think Brickpicker is an issue, how about thousands of Bricklink members buying new LEGO sets to part them out and resell for more money than the original set? LEGO can't think to highly of that. I also said that Brickpicker directly sells hundreds of thousands of dollars of LEGO sets annually through their affiliates like LEGO S@H, Target, Amazon, etc... Bricklink doesn't sell any. As a matter of fact, does Bricklink even have a LEGO logo anywhere on their site? I don't think so. Maybe Bricklink is the next target of LEGO. Sent from my iPad using Brickpicker

  32. Sorry but this is wrong. I got a ban but I have been successful making an account with my wife's name, email, and credit card. The shipping address is the same of course. So they will ship to a banned buyers address.

  33. No, I don't think you're in the minority at all! I've got around 75 lbs of CL buys sitting here, to sort through. It's taken me about 6 months, and I'm about half way through. Just the other day, though, I found another 15 lbs that I had no idea I had. I had completely forgotten about it. I'm trying to be a little more picky about what I'm picking up, so I won't have so much to go through.

  46. According to this review there are 16 bags. The way that you can tell if a seal has been tampered with is just by inspecting it. Feel the seals and make sure there is no clear tape holding it together. If I were you, I would ask the guy you are buying this from if it is okay with him if you open up the box to inspect the contents before buying. If the seals do not look tampered with and if there is a bag missing, you can contact LEGO and they will probably send you a new one. Just explain the situation to them.
