  3. Part of Toys R Us' tradition is they put stuff out on the shelves for purchase before all the other regular retailers by at least a whole month so this isn't exactly surprising. Almost all of this year's releases have been pushed a little farther into the year thanks to The Lego Movie and the sets accompanying it therefore I don't know what should be the normal time for this summer. Last year's summer releases across different themes were varied from May all the way to August. In any case, I would suggest taking a good browse on eBay and perhaps even Amazon to see who all is already trying to flip these new arrivals. Otherwise you'll get stuck with a bunch of stuff needing to be returned unless you feel like waiting out for the sets entire shelf life. Other people are reporting finding these as well on sites such as reddit and here so your window of opportunity may not be open for too much longer.

  5. Pretty good haul today. I picked up 2 x 9472 - Attack on Weathertop for $35.00 apiece at my local Walmart. The rest of the stuff I didn't actually but today, but it finally got warm enough for my parents to come back from Florida and they smuggled a few packages over the border for me. 1 x 76015 - Dock Ock Heist 2 x 76000 - Arctic Batman 2 x 76004 - Spider-Cycle Chase 1 x 21103 - Delorean 1 x 6869 - Quinjet 2 x 75020 - Sail Barge 1x 79111 - Constitution Train 1 x 70725 - Nindroid Mechdragon 1 x 4842 - Hogwarts. Everything was at least 50% off retail (or Canadian retail, at any rate) except for Hogwarts. I got that from shopgoodwill.com for $98 and I was a bit nervous because there was no guarantee of completeness. Turns out it had 1289 of 1290 pieces. It was only missing one of the small sand green nose cones. I was pretty pumped about that, let me tell you. It even came with the customary handful of extra bits.

  8. Interesting that you brought up this point. I do see another Death Star set available in the future, though I would bet heavily that it will be several years down the road. The current one will obviously have to retire first, then I`d anticipate a few year gap, and wouldn`t be surprised if another 3rd version was released. It could be 4-5+ years of waiting for your display for all we know. Yes you could save money ( assuming of course that Lego does make another set, obviously all we can do is speculate), but that`s quite a ways off. Lego could just as easily retire the current one and unveil and update, but we don`t know either way. If you`ve got the money and are that interested in making this display, I`d probably go for it. You`ll enjoy it no doubt, and that will definitely make it worth doing. Haven`t personally looked into the cost of Bricklinking a DS, but give that a shot, it`s possible you could save some cash doing that and substituting certain pieces, but it is time consuming.

  14. Here's how I tweaked the horizontal stabilizer: And the flaps, this is kinda tricky as all you have to do is turn the small piece with the rope a bit: That did the trick for me, stick works a wee bit better. Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  15. First off, Welcome to the site! Secondly, for future reference, no one here will be able to tell you an EOL date for any set. It isn`t public knowledge, and only those who work for Lego higher up in the chain know that info for a fact. We can only speculate based on the market and availability of a set. There seems to be a rumor going around that DS will retire this year, I personally don`t think so. There is no real reason for Lego to do it, unless they release another UCS set. They did recently with the Sandcrawler, but I still don`t see it leaving just yet. End of the year at the very earliest, but I don`t think so. Tower Bridge is possibly on the way out, and it`s definitely going sooner rather that later, but probably another year. That`s one I`d invest in now if you are interested in doing do, but I`d wait on DS for now. If you wanted to buy into that one, May the 4th or double VIP in April would have been the best times.

  17. I've gotten into the habit of paying credit cards as soon as a charge shows up, easier to manage cash and you don't have any nasty surprises at the end of the month. The only reason I charge anything is because of cashback and other perks... make the cards work for you instead of being a slave to their ridiculous interest rates.

  18. THIS!!! Never ever carry a balance on a credit card. Pay it off every single month. If you can't afford to pay it off, then don't buy the item. Credit card debt will destroy your investments and your finances.

  19. I usually only buy sets I'm interested in, incase they turn out to be bombs. But really either way they're both great investments, and I both enjoy both sets immensely. My personal recommendation would be the DS, if you don't mind holding out for a couple of years.

  21. let's not forget a life-size 9493 was built and displayed at Legoland. I saw this first hand and I can tell you the pictures you see on the Internet do not do it justice. I believe this will prolong the run of this set and will set it apart from the other versions of the x wing.
