  1. Yes, I can tell you that the discounted sets have to do with the Star Wars theme

  2. While we wait till 8PM, I'll tell you about an experience I had last night...It was the pre-dawn hours and I was half asleep. I felt an evil, almost malicious presence in the room. I started sweating bullets, like I was in the middle of the Sahara Desert. I was fighting back fear, then my dog Skiffy, a Vizsla, jumped in my bed and I woke up. End of story.

  3. Alright... I'm really hoping to get a few likes for this one... I was disappointed with the TRU.ca sale, so I decided to roam the net, and I happened upon this site... http://www.playvaluetoys.com/ They have the rover available (limit 12 per customer), at 34.99 each. On top of that, they still have Uruk-Hai Armies, Helm's Deeps, Two-Face Chase and a bunch of older SW and POTC sets plus much more! Must check out! Most things are MSRP, but worth it for sets that have long disappeared! Free shipping in Canada with $75 purchase. They ship to US too!

  10. Very small selection when I got there. They were all adopted already. The half off discount really helped find those poor animals homes. There were only three dogs left when I got there and one was Skiffy.

  12. Give it a chance. It shouldn't be a downgrade refresh as the updated AT-AT and last year's Sail Barge in terms of design, size, and elements used. I will be getting mine on Saturday and will posting comparison pics early next week.

  13. One thing I have done is reserved my business name's .com and I point that web address straight to my eBay store page*. That reserves the name for you, points people to your inventory (you could point it to whatever other site you sell more on instead, if it's not eBay), and gives you the option in the future to create your own site if you want to. Buying a domain name is cheap, and well worth it to keep from kicking yourself in a few years when you really want to do something with mycoolstorename.com. *I have not checked that linkage in awhile, turns out it's defunct, lol. Doing online chat with godaddy right now to get it back in place. See, these threads are quite useful, they remind me to check things like that from time to time!

  20. Certain site that re-sells gift cards, has Barnes cards for 20% off. Someone could hook you up with current 15%-20% coupon. If you a member, then you probably have them, plus 10% member discount. So, you can go all stackables on it , and have one for 0.9*(0.8 or 0.85 or even 0.7 with certain unmentionable coupon)*0.8*MSRP Edit: bold beat me to it...

  21. BN have those. If you have 20% off cpn plus 20% Gc plus 10% of membership u can have a decent deal, otherwise like other said, there will be plenty of opportunities

  23. And this is why Lego investing works Also, there are people who don't even know the SSD is a thing, but when they find out they might really, really want one. Next year when Star Wars fever comes back in full force, all of these OT sets are going to be hotcakes. I really didn't want a SSD for myself, as I'm not that into UCS models, but I bought one for myself anyway just in case.

  25. Okay, I have a request - how about a "add this set to your Brickfolio" button? Sometimes I like to look up a set, and I'd love to just be able to click a button and have take me to the add page, rather than scrolling to the top, clicking "My Brickfolio" and then the add button. And then I still have to search for that set. If I was already on that set page, I'd like it to just be a single click.

  29. The good news is we get all the scoop at 8 pm. The question is, doing a google search, before 8 pm, will someone spill the beans somewhere on the Internet and then get sacked for doing so. I think it has happened before. That means it will happen again. Oh wait a minute, that is BSG and not SW

  33. So, TRU markup on TRU exclusive does do the trick :-) Real MSRP is 89.99, so 33% off, still not bad for licensed set. I got one for same price, but had some reward bucks. I which they would have tried 20% off regular price coupon, but oh well. Might try in another store

  43. This is something we've seen many times now with all the remakes of sets LEGO likes to do, what ends up happening is simply that LEGO likes to charge more to charge more, but I don't mind paying a bit extra as long as quality is there, but LEGO has had a few slip ups in the past... Just to name a few, later 9Volt train motors, see-through 'solid' colored bricks, printing wearing off certain head molds; Mr. Krabs, a SW character; ect. LEGO also seems to like to add unnecessay plate levels, Palpatine's Arrest, Rancor Pit(Some may argue that it was needed for the opening door, but I disagree as it could have been done without the clip, so only 'needed' for an function not too crutial in the grand scheme of the set, but I digress) ect. Now, what were you guys honestly expecting from a UCS Sandcrawler? LEGO has a limit to what they can produce and still make a profit, if you're telling me you would have rather had a larger Crawler that would be impratical with this design to get the price down, as most parts are used for the actual crawler, not interior parts. The only way I see that the people unhappy with it to make them happy would have been to make it anothrt 500 dollar UCS set so it could have fit in to TLG's budget and profit making, but even so it is a unpopular vechicle, not a bad one, but just one that probably won't be around for long and they did do the right decision where they can produce this, make money, and satisfy the larger group of people out there. See, here's the thing, most people who like LEGO like to be able to do something with it other than just display, not saying it's the best way, but I'll say it's my default reason for buying LEGO. The Death Star II was discontinued after only 2 years, why? Reports say that this is because it was a poor seller, but these could be false, but who knows. What I do know is that whenever I invite people over to my house they instantly gravitate more towards the play sets instead of the 'adult' models. Now with regards to the updated the Sail Barge, and other sets like it, I feel that overall the set is better than the original, if you're looking at detail. If size, the original wins out being 2 studs wider and I believe 4-6 longer, which the new one could have been and still looked just as fine. There are issues with it, but I prefer the new one because it is more accurate to the movie. All and all, I think UCS SW sets should be regarded into two categories, minifigure scale, and 'life size' scale. Now my final thoughts on the big old beast 1) The plate design is approved by me, allows more detail to be captured 2) Wish it was easy to add PF, fail by the designers 3) The marketing as an adult set was just bad, while I don't mind it being labeled as UCS, have two categories 4) Love the interior and figures 5) All pieces should have been PRINTS, NO STICKERS on UCS sets! And finally... 6) My favorite thing about the set and my overall opinion on it is that it is one heck of a beast and I love the treads on the thing.

  45. Unless you have a very unique inventory - a huge quantity of old, vintage sets, or custom items, etc., there is no point in wasting time with your own site when you can sell on eBay, Amazon, Bricklink, Brickpicker (Soon!), etc. People gravitate to sites with the best selection, you'll never match the "mall" type stores.

  47. Thanks for the feedback. Shot over to another local TRU to pick up the Friends display cases. $19.99!! Well that quickly got PM'd down to 14.99 .I like the outcome of the pastel sky blue much better!! Goes well with the theme. Total investment for Figs and cases=$80 Now, my goal is only to sell the other 2 full sets at a profit of about $40 profit each to be freeeeee and cleeeeeear. Done! 48. Hate to burst your bubble, but honestly, I don`t think very much, if any, investment potential. The set design has been almost cookie-cutted, with minor changes, over and over again. There really isn`t too much to this set that makes it "desirable" in comparison to the many similar versions out there. 9494 is probably retired now, and has/is being replaced with this model (75038), which as you can see by looking at it just illustrates my point. Same ship, tiny changes, different paint job, not very much investment value or desirability for previous versions. One more thing to note is the mini figures. 9494 has several, but 3 are very common (neimoidian, droid, r2-d2) and the remaining two are also common, but have some small details changed. Every Lego SW collector and his/her dog has some version of Anakin and Obi-wan, making these figures desired only by completists (for the most part). Bottom line, most just by what is on the market. Many consumers of Lego are parents, grandparents, the target audience, kids, then there are collectors, AFOLs, investors, and a whole whack of others. Only reason I mention that is to say that pretty much the only people who will want this set now that is is (presumably) EOL are the last few groups mentioned who missed the opportunity to get them. Pretty much everyone else is going to go for 75038 as it is soon to be readily available. That does mean 9494 is a bad set, it`s just that there is little need for people to buy it now that EOL is coming. It does not offer very much more then 75038, and it is less money, so why should people pay a premium? So to recap: remake, very similar to previous models, minimal desirable mini figures, and 75038 replacing it = not very much desirability and thus little investment value. That`s just how I look at it. Value will remain constant, and rise slightly with age. I`d be very, very surprised if it went any other way.
