  2. Boo, 20% off isn't even a sale with the inflated prices. I hope they do another 40% off clearance!

  3. I wouldn't be interested either, if it didn't rise to $180 - $190 with 3rd party resellers every time it goes out of stock.

  6. Honestly, if you were truly "smart," you would keep your stories of your LEGO heist to yourself, but as with most criminals, you just have to brag. That's the first step in getting caught. Just sayin'.... Sent from my iPhone using Brickpicker

  9. Agree with you for the most part but if a buyer has a choice between two sellers selling the same set for the same price and one box is perfect and one is crushed they are most likely going to buy the perfect box especially if it's going to be given as a gift for Christmas/birthday so I think you would have to reduce price at least some to entice buyers. 10. Picked up my $99 Grand Emporiums from Walmart yesterday. That was an interesting process, but they gave me the clearance price.

  12. Congratulations to the winners (Lenjon and Comicblast!) You guys really deserved this. I really enjoy reading both of your reviews and blogs. I meant to enter the blog contest this month - I even had started on a few articles. Then life got in the way. It does that sometimes. At least I'll have a head start on some future articles. Anyway, looking forward to the blog writers group. With summer coming, it will open up more time for me to write some more. It's always good to see a steady flow of blogs.

  14. Hello... I would like to announce the winners of April 2014 Monthly Blog and Review Writing Contest. There was a close race this month between Lenjon and Comicblast. By points, Lenjon won, but I feel Comicblast deserved something, so I will split the $100 Prize(two $50 GCs) into a $75 GC for Lenjon and a $25 GC for Comicblast. I would like to thank all that entered this month's contests. The winners (Lenjon and Comicblast) can contact Jeff and I directly for prize information. Jeff and I are going to postpone the current contest. We have an idea about having a group of "blog writers" that get paid in LEGO sets or gift cards. Members of this writing group will get paid to produce content. More on this in a couple of days...

  23. You sure on the no 50% off star wars Lego? The fine print in my local TRU flyer says that Star Wars Lego sets $229.99 and up are excluded. http://www.flyertown.ca/#!/flyers/toysruscanada-flyer?flyer_run_id=25025 (you have to zoom in to read it)

  24. I have used it multiple times on the toy 10% off. Limit on that was 4 items but could use 6 times in one day. Read the fine print on the one you are using.

  26. Amazon 3rd party sellers need to raise it so high to cover their extreme expenses. I'm not seeing many 3rd party sales when amazon is sold-out (when i watch) but then again, we can't track (or at least, I don't know how to) completed sales on that site. Completed "new" sales on bricklink are averaging $6 above MSRP before postage. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=10226-1 "Sold" new ebay sales are all over the place before shipping. The avg range is $75 to $130 before shipping but many sellers gave free postage, http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&LH_ItemCondition=3&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=50&_udhi=250&_sop=3&_nkw=lego+10226&rt=nc&LH_PrefLoc=1 update: what concerns me more about 10226 compared to 10220 is that 10226 doesn't seem to have nearly as many completed / sold sales. on ebay, 10220 is outselling 10226 by 3 to 1. on bricklink, there have been 45 new and 1 used 10226s old w/in the last 6 months while the 10220 #s are 389 new and 3 used sales. ***to me, this is an indicator of future demand***

  27. I've stockpiled a few Sopwith Camels here recently and I plan to do the same with the VW Camper Van. I'd like to have at least a dozen of these before it's gone.

  28. Per Brickshow FH is now labeled as "Retired" at LEGO Shop at Home website. They also have a blurb in there about what a great investment this set is. Maybe now they will start to dry up at TRU

  29. Can't the people who film these TV series' or films afford a decent tripod or similar for the dang camera? When the hell did the 'shaky cam' become a fad let alone considered an actual technique? It may have worked for 24 the series but even then it got tiring trying to just focus on a single scene after a while.

  40. I guess I must be in the minority these days and showing my age. But to me the physical models that were used for all the ships, and the actual real sets and locations built for the OT are far better than the too clean, too shiny, way too smooth computer generated scenery and ships used in science fiction movies from about 2000 to 2010. Maybe it's because many of you have grown up with computer generated scenery in just about every movie and have spent countless hours playing computer games with computer generated content that it actually looks more real to you than Real [tm] physical models and sets... I will admit though, that some productions from the last couple of years have come a long way towards challenging and maybe even surpassing physical models and sets. Star Trek into the Darkness, Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones all being examples that I think are finally starting to look better -- but certainly not the sw prequels.

  42. Don't know if anyone has posted a "feel" guide yet so I thought I would in case it would help anyone. I have felt up (poor choice of words) two cases in my local Walmart trying to find complete sets. I have listed the difficulty level and the item in the bag to find for each. Homer - Easy - Donut - Small and round. Nothing like it in any other bag Bart - Easy - Wheels - The wheels are separate from the skateboard Marge - Easy - Hair - Long and round. Nothing like it in any other bag Grandpa - HARD - One of the 3 that have square accessories. Grandpa is taller than Milhouse and Ralp. Feel for his longer legs that move. Krusty - Easy - Pie- Completely round. Milhouse - HARD - Square accessory. For Milhouse and Ralph I had to use the flashlight to see his face in the bag. His head is bigger than Ralph's. Ralph - HARD - See above. Had to use flashlight at home for confirmation. Apu - Medium - Find his coffee cup. Similar to Flanders cup but you can tell the difference. No handle. Nelson - Easy - Baseball bat. Similar to Wiggum's club but longer. Itchy - Easy - Club Big and oddly shaped with narrow handle. Nothing like it in any other bag. Scratchy - Easy - Ax - Long with the ax head at the end. Chief Wiggum - Easy - Find the club or find the bullhorn. Mr.Burns - Easy - His rod of radioactive material is easy to find. Small and cylindrical. Lisa - Easy - Sax - Feels funny in the bag. Find the end piece. Maggie - Medium - Bear - This can be confused with other small items. You can feel the arms of the bear. Also note that maggie has no legs so you can feel for that. Flanders - Easy - Tool box - Very distinctive rectangular shape. Overall it's not that bad. Grandpa, Ralph, and Milhouse will cause you problems but other than those three it's fairly easy.
