  3. I just sold one of those for twice what I paid for it. I'll take that anytime for an "underperforming" set

  4. And it won't happen here. People didn't have garages full of 10179. Lego is making more copies of sets and charging more per weight and this will dilute the gains after retirement.

  5. Was just checking Sears.ca today to see if they had their usual %20 off and whatnot, and noticed they had some "New Arrivals". Well these new arrivals are in fact older sets. Forbidden Forest is one of them, and while it says "in stock"; once you order it says "backordered will ship May 22nd", so i don't have too much hope for the order being filled. Some of the other items seem be shipping May 1st. Anyways the other sets really aren't anything to get excited about, but figured i'd share to see if anyone else has any luck getting anything fulfilled. 7. Picked up my order from Kmart haha I think the weekend was a success, now I just have to avoid that store for 2-4 months. The person who rang me up was the one who had to get my orders together and specifically made it known it was her >_> they don't appreciate getting 10+ orders in 1 day lmao.

  8. Here you go: https://store.usps.com/store/browse/uspsProductDetailMultiSkuDropDown.jsp?categoryNavIds=catGetMailingShippingSupplies%3asubcatMSS_B%3asubcatMSS_B_Free&categoryNav=false&navAction=push&navCount=2&productId=P_O_1095&categoryId=subcatMSS_B_Free The only caveat is they have to be sent using priority mail, but I generally send everything priority anyways so it's not a big deal for me.

  11. **UPDATE** just checked the order status on Lego site - Both orders have shipped, but the figure and poster on the 2nd order have 'cancelled' in the status. Looks like you'll have to either visit a shop or use a 2nd VIP card to get more than one figure....

  15. My favorite Marvel character is Punisher but doubt it'd ever make it to official Lego due to it being targeted towards an older audience. I'm a sucker when it comes to sets that have trap mechanics and there would be a lot of potential for inclusion if they ever did a Punisher set. Ghost Rider would be a must buy for me especially with the cycle. Wouldn't mind a Dr. Strange or Thing figure either at some point.

  23. True. I think it really depends on the cashier. I went once to my local TRU and tried to stack coupons but the cashier lady said that the computer usually only takes one of the other without even checking if it did. I recently went to a TRU a bit far away from home and got a stoner-like teenager for the cashier and he stacked with no problem. All said and done keep an eye out for stoner cash registers

  27. I really see no connection between the two. The Winter theme serves multiple purposes for a traditional company like LEGO. They like to tie in their Fall and Winter promotions with the Winter themed sets. I don't see any reason why a popular theme would be stopped with many more possible Winter sets to be created. As for the Carnival theme(or set), it looks like a winner. There could be some nice additional sets added. Maybe a Haunted House? Maybe a Himalayan(AKA Caterpillar ride) that plays Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water." LOL

  28. What you mean is brute logic. You simply assume several things you can't (and don't) really know. For example you state... a ) ...that people loving winter themed sets are mostly the same like those people loving carnival themed sets (how do you know?) b ) ...that people see the carnival theme as a substitution for the winter theme (how do you come to this conclusion - personally I do not really see a fundamental link between the topic "winter" and the topic "carnival", even less because the winter theme has been more about houses whereas the carnival might be more about rides - meaning: those two are divided by more than they share c ) ...that those people have limited funds they are willing to only spend on ONE of the themes (how do you know?). If all people were constantly retaining their budget for toys in general and specifically Lego, then Lego's sales would not be growing constantly. It could well be people continue collecting the winter theme and also start collecting carnival (IF there was a link between the two groups, which we don't know) I am not saying that you ARE wrong. I only want to comment that you just cannot know. And in this case there is not much logic involved but plain guessing instead - which is not very productive for a forum focusing on lego investing. Why don't you just more generally say that Lego releasing more and more sets from year to year that are out there at the same time leads to lower average prices in the secondary market because people have more choices? This sounds much more logic (but might also be wrong). By the way: The original statement was "If the Carnival Theme replaces the Winter Village theme, do you think winter sets will drop in value ? (people focusing on the new carnival theme)", which is an assumption of people turning away from a theme because of a (quite different) new one. How about new people starting to collect? Catchword: "Extension of target groups".

  33. Just had someone raid my "sets w/o minifigures" section of my Ebay store; he picked up 14 fig-less sets for a grand total of $207. Packaged weight of 17lbs, shipped FedEx for $18.62. Yesterday, I had someone grab all six of my Shock Troopers from 75046 at $14 apiece. The day before that, I had someone buy 9 minifigs for $95. I've had a good amount of small sales the last few days too. I'm overjoyed, since April sales have been killing me. I've made more in the last two days than I did in the two weeks before that. The guy who bought the instant Lego part collection (just add water) was a really cool guy. He said that he and both his sons were big Star Wars nerds; they planned to leave the Star Wars sets intact, then use the parts from the other sets to add to their Star Wars environments/backdrops. I've always been a free builder, so it makes me happy when I know that my items are being worked into someone's grand plan. And of course it's always cool to see parents that are building along with the kids.

  35. Great. As if SSDs aren't taking up enough room in my garage. Maybe I can stack the boxes from floor to ceiling against one wall and paint them the same color as the interior. Wife might not notice that our garage's square footage shrank overnight. Ooh
