  1. This thing is not accurate at all. The carnies are smiling, clean, and they aren't smoking. The guy blowing chunks is pretty accurate though.

  7. Just had someone raid my "sets w/o minifigures" section of my Ebay store; he picked up 14 fig-less sets for a grand total of $207. Packaged weight of 17lbs, shipped FedEx for $18.62. Yesterday, I had someone grab all six of my Shock Troopers from 75046 at $14 apiece. The day before that, I had someone buy 9 minifigs for $95. I've had a good amount of small sales the last few days too. I'm overjoyed, since April sales have been killing me. I've made more in the last two days than I did in the two weeks before that. The guy who bought the instant Lego part collection (just add water) was a really cool guy. He said that he and both his sons were big Star Wars nerds; they planned to leave the Star Wars sets intact, then use the parts from the other sets to add to their Star Wars environments/backdrops. I've always been a free builder, so it makes me happy when I know that my items are being worked into someone's grand plan. And of course it's always cool to see parents that are building along with the kids.

  9. My KMart stuff from this morning: 6 x Death Star Troopers 3 x Cloud Cuckoo Palace 1 x Kashyyk Troopers 1 x Creator Family House & one Snickers, before I found out it was $10 back on $10. I could have had $30 extra in points. Total Spent = $121.96 MSRP + tax = $234.04 Savings = $112.08 I'm sure this was small scale compared to some of you.

  10. Tabby gives City a bad name, when in reality I think he's just invested in the wrong sets. For every set he gives that is a waste of time, I could show you another set that has done very well. I avoid Fire and Police for the exact reasons he states, but I do invest in other City sets. By all means, though, leave them all on the shelves for the rest of us.

  11. Looks like a great set, will go right along with my Ghost Train with all the glow in the dark. Maybe the Ghost Train could be a ride for the Carnival? Haha.

  12. I'm more of a collector than investor but my local kmart had a stack of these at $31, I couldn't pass and ended up with 5 of these. I was going to keep the. For the pieces - maybe build a shire, but for these posts I might have to hang in.

  13. I guess MSRP $150-ish? Cool design, high playability but "displayability" is a bit low (or average) in my opinion, so I don't think many AFOLs will spend, say, $300 - 400 after EOL just to have it.

  14. I love it. I too think this could be the first of a whole line of "Fairground" sets. If that is the case I'm even more excited. Although my wife already pointed out that it should have lights. Every carnival has flashing lights. It would be great if they could make a "Carnival Accessory Kit" or something which included a kit to add lights. I guess I will just do what we do with our winter village and add a strand of tiny LED lights.

  19. I agree with you it seems any flagship does great past eol and it seems any sets with general grevious does great as well and I'm personal hoping they discount it deeply because I've been waiting to get one to add to my Star Wars collection

  20. I don't care what anyone says, I think the malevolence is gonna be a solid investment plus you can't go wrong with a set that has a Grievous minifig.

  28. Here are a few more stats: The top set had a 46% price jump from Feb to March. Unfortunately for most they didn't have any in their portfolio. There was only 1 lucky/savvy person and that was MartinP who had 1 set. MartinP had a Tractor set as well and along with Quacs who had 3 was the only ones with those. At the other end of the scale here are the worst performing sets for the month. Only 1 unlucky soul had a solitary Architecture Studio, mr_cotta. An the results above of znjndmawn being the biggest slider down the charts was due to being the only person with Artic Batman, 46 of them for the entire portfolio.

  30. The eBay store, minifiguresplus, just listed sealed cases of the 71005 Simpsons Minifigures for $239.99. I bought from them many times and always received a great product. These minifigures will sell like very, very well...so don't miss the opportunity. Remember, they will be selling for $3.99 individually, so this is a solid deal with FREE SHIPPING and NO TAX.

  32. As it seems like there are some members new to the part buying aspect of Bricklink, I thought I'd share some information on programs that can make it easier. Bricklink is a great thing to have, but using it at first feels like a time machine to 15 years ago and shows you just how bad online shopping can be on an outdated website design. That said, two programs that can relieve some of the pain are Brickstore and Brickficiency. Brickstore essentially lets you manage the Bricklink database in a more powerful and easier to use way. Imagine the Bricklink parts/sets catalog combined with Excel. I primarily use it to check prices and inventory levels of parts and sets, to create wanted lists for missing parts I need or sets I'm trying to build from scratch, and to verify inventory of a Bricklink order or a used set I bought. It has the ability to import set inventories, import Bricklink orders, export Bricklink wanted lists, etc which make it much faster to use than the Bricklink website. Brickficiency is a program that takes a Bricklink wanted list or Brickstore .bsx file and scans Bricklink to find the cheapest combination of 2-5 stores to purchase the parts from. This makes it very easy to find where to purchase a list of parts from, rather than having to manually and tediously use the store list on the Bricklink Wanted list page. Hopefully this is helpful to anyone who has not heard of these programs, and if you already have, you probably know how useful they are . If it would be helpful I can write some short tips and guides on using these programs to accomplish certain tasks such as verifying completeness of a used set, identifying a used set based on a few bricks, Bricklinking a complete set from scratch, etc, or even just basic Bricklink tips and info, just let me know

  34. Chin up! We'll get through another round! Slow-moving parents of young children despise faster-moving parents of small children who get there first. Fast-moving parents of small children despise adult collectors who buy the last box on the shelf when they SHOULD leave it "for the children!" Collectors despise the collector/casual investor who buys TWO of a set (shocking! Just shocking! Even if they are the LAST TWO!!) and don't leave any for the purist collector. Collector/Casual Investors despise the Mid-Level Investor/Collector who don't leave any for them. Mid-Level Investor/Collectors despise the High-Level Investor/Reseller (often those counting on Lego for a significant amount or all of their income) who don't leave any for them. It's not "sick" for someone to buy more Lego than another person, or for them not to leave Lego on the shelf for the children, the parents, the purist collectors, the casual investors, the lazy, the stupid, or the weak. We're not talking bottled water in a hurricane here, we're talking a luxury toy. I won't call you whiny if you don't call me sick. Or, better yet, keep calling me sick all you want instead of taking steps to make sure you can compete with me on the fair and level playing field called "Open Hours" at the store selling Lego.
