  1. I am 100% sure the SSD will retire thats why I have gotten 8 with the Double VIP Points, and will get 2-4 more May 4th if Lego has a 10-15% sale on them and that will bring me up to 30 of them. So Lets see how many people miss the Boat on this set, So instead of buying hundreds and thousand of dollars worth of clearance and sets that just came out you should be getting the SSD, and anybody thinks that the price will not rise fast and with the new Movie next Dec will be sorry that they didn't load up on them. 2. In regards to our news segment regarding the SSD retiring, here is the information we obtained to make this news. The manager of the store told me. Everything that particular manager has told me so far, has been true. The way it works in their world is each week they get their stock in. They noticed when particular sets stop showing up on their trucks each week. It's been 6 weeks since a SSD has shown up on their trucks. They did note that the T1 Camper Van has also not been on trucks for awhile. It makes business since for all of this to be true since we are at the end of April and they need to make room for the Sandcrawler on May 3rd. They didn't even have room to fit the Winter Village Market set on their shelves. Once I bought their last T1 Camper Van, they filled that open space with the Winter Village Market sets again. When the summer sets hit stores and the few LEGO exclusive sets hit (Mini Cooper, Sandcrawler, Carnival, etc..), sets will need to be retired to make room for new sets.

  4. Can we move the debate to a "what i'll make thread" and keep this retirement focused. I keep pulling this up thinking a new wave of retirements has hit etc. Too many opinions on this site, who cares how you do it, place your bets and move on. Help others where you think it is appropriate. Many people can be right at the same time. The problem to an internet site is nobody ever tells you how much they lost and their negative cash flows or yields. Only the wins. Ed has nothing to prove, thus taking a bet is a waste of time. Best of luck to all.

  6. Maybe I'm crazy, but that would be a $200 vs. $1700 return. 23 smaller sets would take approximately an hour or two to package. You could sell all of this under 1 listing by simply changing the quantity. So basically one would be making $1500 more off of smaller sets for maybe 2 hours more of work. I love both big and small sets, but in that example 23 smaller sets sounds much more appealing to me than one $400 set.

  7. Booking trips through airmiles proved to be a pain for me. So I just spend the airmiles on giftcards and merchandise. Good for getting midrange electronics without spending actual cash!

  8. I have some time to wait before my new son will be able to help me build. Many who have read my responses now know I am a proud pappa. I have wanted a child more specifically a son for mor ethan a decade. We were blessed with a son to adopt just 10 weeks ago. I left this house this morning with a warm heart....When I said goodbye to him this morning he gave me a heart melting smile. Teary eyed just typing it. Go ahead poke fun...I am cream puff and wear my emotions proudly.

  10. Exactly $75 worth of bricks and pieces for the Taj Mahal from the LEGO PAB Website (these are only pieces that are cheaper on PAB than on BrickLink), which I've procrastinated in BrickLinking. If any of you remember, I started this over a year ago. LOL... Once this shipment of pieces comes in, I'll be 1/6 of the way there! In hindsight, it was a bad idea to choose the biggest LEGO set ever produced for my first BL experience.

  16. About $700-800 each seems fair. This set will rival the 10179 soon I think. (Disclaimer: This information may be biased by the author having 18 of these sets sitting in his closet)

  19. After having time to smoosh and do a little research on sold listings, I think I will be returning these. IF they sell at $9/each shipped, I'll only be making about $2 profit on each one. There is only a small window to capitalize on these before they are available to the masses, so that's too much work and too many variables to maybe make $32 profit. I have no interest in these from a personal collection standpoint. I just saw them sitting on the shelf discounted nonetheless, so I figured I would buy now and ask questions later. After smooshing I think I have 2 Bart's, 2 homers, 2 apu's, 2 chief wiggum, 1 itchy, 1 grandpa, 1 marge, 2 Maggie, 1 Ralph wiggum, 1 krusty, and 1 I can't identify. 21. FBA/Fulfilled by Amazon simply means that Amazon is acting as the shipper for stock that is provided to them by the third party seller. It isn't stock that Amazon acquires from the manufacturer or a distributor and sells on Amazon's own behalf, it's stock that Amazon is sent by third-party sellers and shipped (upon sale) on THOSE people's behalf. Retired/non-retired has nothing to do with an item's eligibility for FBA.

  22. If you are a big time airmiles collector like myself then you might want to consider a few LEGO sets that came up in the airmiles rewards. There are 3 sets and it seems quite rare that you can get LEGO direct through airmiles: Ariel's Magical Kiss- 700 airmiles Metalbeard's duel- 750 airmiles Kingdom's Joust- 1600 airmiles Best bang for the buck by far is the Kingdom's Joust when you consider 95 airmiles is about $10CDN so 1600 for the Joust is about right. 700 and 750 for the other 2 sets is a pretty inflated price.... I have enough airmiles for almost 5 Jousts so I think I will pull the trigger

  28. You could have done what I did - BL'ed the Mini Modulars. Nothing like trying to put together a 1200 piece set that's made of up a whole lot of plates and tiles that are *really* tiny.

  29. I was originally going to go on here and post the question of had anyone actually tried building the inspirational model shown in the back of the original instruction manual but after some heavy browsing I found this Brickshelf Gallery, a Eurobricks thread with an LDD file, and someone else's own alternative MOC. Actually, I still feel like asking has anyone tried building this at all if anything just to see how it would look in their own city. Soooo ....have you?

  33. I'd also like to cross post a tip I saw on another thread somewhere on this forum regarding shipping labels. USPS (and Fed-Ex? I forgot...)offers free label "sleeve/pouches" that you can slip the shipping label, printed on normal paper, into and tape directly on the box. OP cited its better use in better protection from shipping damage, as well as waterproofing. I can't provide a link to the original post or where on USPS's website it is because I'm on mobile right now, but I believe at USPS it's labeled like "Customs Label Sleeve", or something similar. Probably wrong, but do take a look.

  34. The Amazon tape isn't easy to remove, but it'll be pretty clearly a recycled box (I use them all the time for book shipments) and I haven't had anyone accuse me of drop shipping. It will be especially obvious because your return address label will be you, not Amazon, and you should also include a packing slip that will also show you as the shipper.

  35. Shoot, I forgot it also works as an initialism for Monster Fighters or Minifigures. At least with the Collectable Minifigures I'm used to seeing "CM".

  37. Toys R Us Germany currently has 20% off Lego (starting from a total of 30 EUR), online and in store, good until Thursday. Most interesting things I saw in store were 10240 for 160 EUR (sold out online, plenty in store) and 42009 for 144 EUR (already reduced at 180, then 20% off). Amazon.de currently matches at least some of the prices for the larger Technic sets, making it interesting for people outside Germany.

  40. If more than one retailer carries a set then it is not exclusive. TRU does this many times to make it look like their products cannot be found anywhere else, which makes uninformed people want to buy that set, when they could be getting it cheaper somewhere else. TRU has done this to several sets.

  41. Certainly. I spend nearly all of my scholarship on these sets (yeah, I am a good student...). All the more it turned out my girlfriend likes LEGO more than partying or any other activity. She didn't use to, she got addicted because of me. It is like a disease. I swear I am going to marry her.

  44. Yes, the way to ship first class without having received payment is to use the "Ship Now" option. The easiest way to access it is to log into your paypal account. Then type in www.paypal.com/shipnow into the browser bar. This will route you to the shipping option where you can manually type in the address. And yes, free delivery confirmation is included. You can also do this at USPS.com, however they do not give you the option to ship first class online, so if the package is 13 ounces or under, you're better off using paypal. Hope that helps!

  45. While I must say I am deeply disappointed by LEGO LOTR releases (overall) I do think if it ends with wave 2 all sets will perform quite outstanding.... I still want third wave with Gondor stuff though..... Hoping on getting a last 6 set wave or something close, that covers Balrog, Witch King, Gondor soldiers/rangers, Faramir, Eowyn and a nice Gondor vs Orc battle pack... preferably even Olifont......
