  1. But I don't hear anybody whining about auctions with free shipping. I mean, "free shipping" is obviously taken into account by the seller and included in the auction price. And $0.00 is not the actual shipping cost either so why make a fuss about the opposite? I'm currently selling a couple of polybags on eBay but I can't ask the actual shipping price because my listing is in $ and the stamps I'm buying are in

  2. Why do you need to call them and see what the deal is? You already know......you are a reseller and you got caught.

  6. They won't clearance the LEGO. They will just ship it to other stores that are staying open. One day you will go in to a store that is closing and it will all have mysteriously disappeared like the butler from Mr Deeds. He is vedy vedy sneaky.

  7. The bags are separated like that #3 to make it more difficult to steal all the minifigs. When they were all in one bag people would open the box, grab bag 1 and have all the figs.

  8. They do offer a business version of the Red Card too, which also offers 5% off. So it's a little weird to me they would care at all.

  9. I don't really see what the problem with the shipping price is. I mean, it's the total price that counts, right? So what if someone asks $75 for shipping and $925 for a set. Or $500 for shipping and $500 for a set. Both auction will end up costing you $1K. Or am I missing something?

  11. I'm not against it all I just wish people would stop making themselves so visible. Why buy 50+ sets of anything or purchase 1000s of dollars worth of sets at a time? All that is doing is messing up things for the smart buyers who stay under the radar. If the secondary market goes to crap these are the people to blame.

  12. on a diff note: honestly, i would get rid of the debt card option since it's linked to a bank account. just go for the basic red card card version.

  15. Now this is an awesome display. So much detail, my only issue (being picky) is with the simple tan flooring which needs a bit more detail but it is a jaw dropping effort! http://www.flickr.com/photos/onelug/sets/72157627770924700/

  17. I'm working on 10232 Palace Cinema. Really enjoying the build and just take my time for it.. Still busy with the 1st floor and already made 1 or 2 mistakes in placing the wrong color on the build could be I would need some glasses, a better lit room or the Lego downloaded manual is not that clear (downloaded so I can keep the original as clean as possible if I want to sell it in the future) It's my first 'new' build after my dark ages. I see how much the bricks have changed over the years, they are way more glossy than my 80's sets (or that could be because they are more played with ). I somehow find the newer bricks feel cheaper than the bricks from the 70's / 80's anybody else having the same?

  21. Over 90% of the original $925 that was pledged has been collected. So far this is what we are planning to buy him: Ewok Village ($250, Amazon) Arkham Asylum Breakout ($160, Amazon) Batcave ($70, Amazon) The Sea Cow is another obvious choice, but I'm not sure if he's had the opportunity to see the movie yet. Maybe that doesn't even matter since it will be on Blu-ray/DVD soon enough. I might ask the Aunt to buy it just so I don't earn any VIP points. I don't want to benefit at all from this. In fact, I'm covering the Paypal transaction fees on all the donations. We were also thinking it would be cool to get him a minifig display case like the one displayed below. They run $100-200, depending on the size. I figure with all the sets he will be getting, it would be nice for him to organize the figs. I met a guy at Brickworld Indy who makes these. He said he would meet me halfway to avoid shipping costs. They are custom to order but I can probably talk him into expediting this request. What do you guys think.....Ewok Village, Asylum Breakout, Batcave, Sea Cow and custom minifig case?

  28. Oh dear, we can't have that kind of comment here, next you'll be telling us how hard done by the little kiddie winks are because someone already got the free polybags from the paper by buying 50 papers and getting 50 lego toys, then perching up at some park bench, cutting out the vouchers and hopping on the train to the next town handing over the said 50 cut out vouchers and getting another 50 lego toys. And at both stores, you tell the shop assistant "they miss counted" and they hand over a few more. And them selling them to a German at a 600% mark up. And then using that money to take a holiday sitting in the sun sipping beer. P.S I have fed an Asian family for the last 2 and a half years by selling lego. I'm hoping my investing will get them out of the jungle into a house one day.

  29. I think all LOTR / Hobbit sets from 1. wave will rise in future a lot, since: 1) they have had a very short production life (1.5 year for LOTR, 1 year and something for Hobbit), 2) this theme has a big fan base with ideal age for future purchases (teenage and AFOLs), 3) this theme will be never repeated in future, but the theme will be popular regardless of the existence of movies - this theme was popular even before the movies came, 4) almost every set contains exclusive figs, so if you need a complete set of main characters, you need to buy all sets. Of course, there are some sets which will be more popular - Helms deep (big set showing an important scene), Uruk hai army (necessary for building a big army), Orthanc (biggest set), Unexpected gathering (definitely a winner of all hobbit sets, since contain many exclusive figs + iconic building with exclusive parts), but also many other sets are important for every collector - Orc Forge (good as a support for tower of Orthanc), Attack on weathertop (exclusive ringwraiths), Moria (troll and Boromir), Goblin king (goblins, exclusive wargs), Attack of the Wargs (wargs + exclusive dwarfs), Mirkwood spiders (beautiful Tauriel), Barrel escape (exclusive dwarfs). The same situation will be with the second wave - every set has exclusive figs and good point is that the TLG put many figs in every LOTR/Hobbit set contrary to other similar sets. I also dont agree that Goblin king set has not a big potential - this set is nice detailed and contains many exlusive figs. I agree that the price is high, but if you buy it with a discount, you can expect a nice profit in future. I believe in potential of these sets very strongly - this theme has a big fan base, the sets are well detailed, contain many figs, and most of them are exclusive and not repeated in other sets. I think these years are a golden era for investing, since there are so many other perfect sets produced during these years.
