  3. Wife say's I am good for $20 , so PM and I will get it to you later tonight. Thanks for doing this. My wife teaches Special Education, she has the most disabled and medically fragile and this just made our day. And yes there are Lego's in her class. I hunt all year at thrift shops and yard sales, and sanitize them, she does k-5 and some have oral issues so we do just the big ones. Still have 1 and a half trunks in reserve in the garage for when she runs low.

  4. Bought a Heartlake Stables at Walmart for $35. There was one lone set hiding behind the Sunshine Ranches. I hadn't seen these available for awhile now, plus they are retired, so that was an easy decision to buy.

  7. Thank you everyone! We have now raised $925 for Gavin's LEGO sets!!! Donations have come in from the UK, Canada, Midwest, New England, California...all over! It's amazing. Special thanks to DirtyZ for coming up with the idea to contribute money towards the larger sets. This made it a lot easier for some people to contribute to this cause. I know some of the gift packages are already on their way so thank you to everyone who shipped him something. I'd like to buy him the sets this week so please send me your pledge and donations by Sunday evening. If you would still like to donate or send him something, please PM me or post here and I'll get you the information. If you still want to contribute a cash donation after this weekend, the family has established the

  8. My free time has been limited but I always wanted to try what jaisonline does with sets, buying them on the cheap, building them, and reselling. Maybe you take a small loss or make a small gain, but its more about paying a low price to build. A personal pleygo, if you will. After seeing the incredible outpouring of support for the donation thread, I got to thinking why couldn't jaisonline's system work but with more people? Instead of people competing for cheap sets buy some as community sets, pass them around, and then sell once everyone has a crack at the build. I am thinking something along the lines of: 1) First, club members must be known, trusted, established members of the site 2) We agree on a list of sets to purchase ... big boys, MF, taj, cafe, UCS, etc. Our hit list is the prime targets 3) People go off and find deals 4) When a deal pops up the set gets purchased, and the original buyer handles it just like a normal transaction ... verify completeness, handle seller disputes, etc. 5) BUILD 6) After a couple weeks the set becomes available for the next person to build, It becomes a normal paypal transaction between old owner and new buyer. Each person who takes ownership would need to do the normal due diligence of part verification, making sure nothing was swapped out or missing. If something isn't right it's up to the buyer and seller to figure it out...no one else is vested so no collateral damage to club members 7) Once the set has passed through everyone it gets sold. Profit is put toward another set, losses are split between members and everyone chips in their couple bucks. These are not sets to own and display, the time you hold it is so you can build it while still maintaining a business / family/ job. It shouldnt really be displayed more than a few days before torn down and offered up to the next in line. If you currently hold a set and your name comes up on another set, you get passed over (you can only have one set at a time). I see a few benefits of this system ... ebay fees are incurred only once and divvied between members instead of each person having to deal with 10% loss each transaction. Instead of builders competing they pool resources...money, logistics, and deal finding. Community...I think a lot of people here invest to build, and this is a great way to bring together both worlds. I can even see people offering up used sets they want to sell into the system and letting them go through the process. They won't get maximum ebay value but they would avoid fees so it's a win for them too? Anyone who steals a set from the club already paid for it, and if someone swipes some parts the new buyer would be able to verify and handle the dispute thru paypal. So far I cannot think of any issues or potential abuses with a system like this, but what do you think? Any interest?

I used to bartend, I know how it is. I tip waiters or if food is delivered to me. Why would I tip an hourly worker for Doing her job. It's like rewarding kids for graduating a grade in school. It's what you're supposed to do.

I think the picture is a bit misleading. Thanks for the help and comments. I'll be watching NCAA basketball next Thurs-Fri-Sat-Sun, sorting and building. Should be fun!

  15. That's the kind of **** that pisses me off. If it isn't your property, don't throw/give the stuff away! It isn't yours to do with whatever you please! Same kind of thing happened to me years ago, I had recieved a Gameboy Advance SP for my birthday, and my uncle stole my Gameboy Advance, completely defeating the purpose of even asking for a SP model to begin with as I had wanted my brother to own a console so we could trade our damn Pokemon, but nope, he kept it secret for a month until, for reasons I won't disclose here, jail, and my mother and I went over to get his dog, and low and behold, he had my GBA! We could tell due to my name being written on it... And again, this is why I hate this kind of crap! (Some) Family members think just because they're older than you, they can **** all over you.

  16. Benny needs a girlfriend, a classic space mini but in pink or a friends mini-doll in a space suit. Now if only it didn't cost so much and take so long to do quality animation like the Movie, if it were cheaper a TV series might spur sales of core themes even more.

  19. It is unfortunate but some shady sellers do cut the product with filler and say it is pure...so to speak When ever I look at a lot even if it seems to be a sure thing. I always randomly fish 10 to 20 pieces out of all areas of the bin and check for Mega blocks. A few pieces is fine as sometimes the parent didn't love their kid and got some Mega Blocks here and there. But if the half or more comes up, its a giant red flag.

  20. Microfighters: Star Destroyer All nine of Series 1 Mixels High Speed Police Chase (60042) - $10 Heartlake Stables - $35 Why the new Police set was already on sale let alone with a sticker saying exactly half off, I honestly have no idea but no sense looking a gift horse in the mouth. Speaking of which, I came across that lone Heartlake Stables by itself on the bottom shelf amongst the Friends sets and on a whim I scanned the set for the heck of it. Sure enough it was on sale for 30% off. I was planning to get The Flying Flusher now that Walmart finally got some back in stock but felt as though the Heartlake Stables was the better deal really. My only suspicion is with how the seals look. Now they don't appear to be tampered with; just dirty from sitting in a warehouse somewhere but still can't be too careful these days. Anyway between the Heartlake Stables I found before at half off (which I think was a fluke in the system) and then this one for 30% off, I now have two for just a smidge over the cost of one. Man, I can hardly wait to put all those tan bricks to good use. :)

Last night I had someone offer me $26.00, yes $26.00 for my NISB Architecture Studio, I declined, not even worth the counter, they offered again, $40.00 this time, so now I'm annoyed and I countered for a dollar less than my asking price and said that if they made one more stupid offer I'd ban them from ever being able to bid on my auctions

  24. Never picked this set up during it's last year available, very early 2013. Wondering if anyone believes that a price of $140 would be a good deal for this set. I want to get two of the recent King's Castle sets, didn't get them when amazon had them on sale for $70 a pop, what a bummer, and a couple Gatehouse Raids to make one large L shaped Castle. I can't decide whether to hold off on this purchase or get the MMV now, wait for the KC to be on sale again and get those then, or just completely skip out on it entirely. Thoughts? Also, if you have personally built it, would you say the build was fun, average, or boring? Your rating on the set?

  29. For everyone regretting how they treated their toys as a child focus instead on how much fun you had while playing with them. Regret, for the most part, is pointless. And if all your childhood Lego is mixed in a giant box just consider it a bulk lot and have at it. More on topic, I clearly remember tossing out the original boxes for the entire G1 Transformer line just before a cross country move. I sold off all my Transformers about 6-7 years ago, I could have easily gotten two times more if I would have kept that pile of cardboard.

  30. I didn't have any as a child - but it hurts me inside everytime I see some child getting rid of all his legos for pennies on the dollar. I have had several Craigslist deals I tried to talk people out of selling because when I went to pick it up I knew they will regret it in 5-10 years. Live and learn. Outside of incredibly bad financial problems, I will never sell my Lego sets I buy to build. I buy everyone with the intention of keeping it forever.

  32. It could be at least for their assortment of collectable figures. StompingFreak said CB had the license until 2030 (something); however, that does not mean they managed to retain certain exclusive rights like being the only company to design buildable sets. Now I only base that last statement on the fact Lego has reaccepted Doctor Who as a potential CUUSOO project. It's a little confusing. Cobi based in Poland and Character Options (the company's actual name) in the UK are two different companies but Cobi makes all the Character Building products for Character Options. That's why they both seem to have very similar figures because essentially they really are the same.

  33. I met Gavin's Aunt today. I can't begin to tell you how happy she was to hear what everyone is doing for him. She was extremely grateful. She did give me Gavin's home address so I'll PM everyone that wanted to mail him something. I told her to warn his mom that some random packages will start arriving over the next couple of weeks :-) I also told her about the Death Star. She couldn't believe that either! $65 more until we reach our goal! She suggested that I wait until after the event is over tonight before making the purchase just in case he receives one. I will send her an email to see if he got one. He did receive some bigger sets, but not a Death Star from what I could tell. Here are some pictures from the event. I think this will be a birthday to remember :-)

  45. I recently met a guy at his house. We had been corresponding via texts for almost a week, but I was still nervous because I had $1200 in my car. But it was totally cool, the guy was a bigger collector than I am and we talked about toys for an hour. His wife even invited me to stay for dinner but I politely declined because my wife said I couldn't play anymore because it was dark outside.

I would have at least 50 more feedbacks if everyone left feedback like they were supposed to do. In my mind its part of the purchase agreement!! DAMN YOU LAZY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!

  47. I jumped on a deal from CL, two sets, a viking set and a star wars set for $200. I ask if set is complete, the seller says yes. The day of p/u, i get an email saying sorry cant sell it at that price...it was too cheap. i ask how much someone else offered. they say $300. I say ill take it even at that price. I go to pick it up and its a mom and her teenage son (maybe 13 or 14). everything looks good. the kid is eager to take my money. i take it home and immediately begin to discover that it is not complete and no where near complete. i immediately send an email. I get no response for a few days, and im emailing them every day with more and more parts that are missing. the mom finally emails back and says too bad..this is CL. I tell her about the representations that the set was complete, which was obviously made by her son, who should have known they were not because so many pieces were missing. the mom then offers to return $50, then $100. I say heck no, I will rather take you to small claims court so your son can learn a lesson. After days of nonsense, she finally says she will return my money. I take the sets back and she gives me my money back minus $20. She says, I didn't say I'd return all of your money! I tell her keep it, bad karma for you. I now have seen them trying to resell it on CL for a month. Now that it is listed as missing pieces, no one will touch it with a ten foot pole and the price dropped from $300 back to the original $200 last night. They wont sell it even for that price and even without me bad mouthing them on CL. Karma will get you every time. I wasted 2 hours total of driving and tons of time on email - i learned never to buy a set that is claimed to be complete on CL unless its already put together. Oh and I lost my $20 bucks.
