  1. Wow I am really surprised at the disdain for the Simpsons. I think it is still pretty good. I think the sets will do well - providing they can find things iconic nough int he show to build. I think it could be that the minifigs are awesome, but the sets aren't that great.

  2. Ebay never has deals. Ever. Everyone else should stay away from ebay. Nothing to see, move along B)

  3. Cars and houses are overrated. You could just buy a 8070 if you want a sweet ride or a 5891 if you want a house. Hell, you could even buy a 7346 if you'd like your house on the beach !

  4. This clone trooper is definitely how Lego should run all their promotions and exclusives. Advance release and then available to the public as an incentive to a purchase. Perfect.

  5. I can't get a decent enough quality picture, but there seems to be a few non-LEGO brand colors in there I think. Looks similar to Mega Bloks 9895 but I'm not sure.

  6. Sucks for people spending a fortune for that clone!

  7. In case anyone missed it, Toy's Paradise have the 4x4 Crawler for $180 Shipped. It's no longer on their site but can still be purchased through the Westfield site. On their own website they have the Unimog for $200 Shipped I can't say I've looked properly into ordering from overseas just yet but this is certainly the cheapest I've seen these sets in Aussie.

  8. A hundred new mini-figures....the potential for a Simpsons LEGO City style layout of Springfield?...Yes, please!

  9. I grew up during the age of Simpsons so I feel like I have a pretty good feeling on how they are in terms of pop culture. I was in the 3rd-4th grade once they started to hit big time. The seasons between about 1992-1998 are the classics and will never be topped. The seasons since then have been pretty ho-hum with a few good episodes in between. The past 3-4 have been so bad that I've taken the show off the DVR recording list. That being said, I have a feeling that the Simpsons line will have some absolute hits. Not just with the kids of today, not with the AFOL, but with the adult fans of the Simpsons. There could be many iconic builds. I see the Simpsons' house, Bart's Tree House, a big build of Springfield Elementary, another big build of the Nuclear Power Plant, and Moe's Tavern as being the must haves. The best build could be the (now sing it with me) the Monorail....Monorail....Monorail. The line of the minifigs will be outstanding. There have been so many characters the show has put out in its 20+ years. In addition to the Simpson's family but you also have Nelson, Martin, Milhouse, the Flandereses, the Wigums, the Beeman, Kent Brockman, Troy McClure, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Mr Smithers, Mr Burns.... the list could go on and on. There could literally be over 100 of minifigs. Just because the Simpsons have lacked luster that some of the other sets might have doesn't mean they could not be a hit. p.s. Donuts. Is there anything they can't do?

  10. People should watch every single movement in the retail market. I would be very careful about discarding any kind of inventory or sales data from the big LEGO retailers just like that. It just add to the overall picture and gives you a better look at the bigger picture.

  11. I honestly have not invested in it for two reasons: 1. I can't put my head around who is buying them after they are gone. Parents for girls when there are current sets out? I don't know. i know they sell well, I just have trouble investing in something when I don't understand the market. 2. I still have not gotten to where I can by a Lego friends set and not feel like a predator. Lol

  12. There is no correlation on Amazon to gauge if anything is going EOL or not. Desert Skiff was out for almost 3 months, they went back in stock a few days ago.

  13. Read it several times, I usually pass out looking at the pictures, though.

  16. Only 19 left. I wonder what the Amazon.co.uk guys are doing... Do they check into their warehouse and go "Bloody Christ! We have some more Orc Forges (****)ere!"? This is like the 4th time they've restocked it.

  17. I like the Simpsons of old. I am optomistic about the sets and minifigures. I stopped watching the new stuff at least seven years ago, but I will never forget the old stuff.

  18. That's a bummer that it's been confirmed. I don't think that Lego has ever decided to make sets for a show so controversial. --> terrible.

  19. I enjoyed The Simpsons when I was younger. Now I just can't stand them. We'll have to wait and see what Lego comes up with.

  25. Because they are clearancing it because it didn't sell. There were tons of sets there unsold. All the LOTR and Star Wars was ravaged, but it was left alone. Just one area but I just don't think its selling well here. I live in the south though. Hard to please us without guns or football

  26. Saw a bunch of Chima on Clearance in Walmart. DIdn't bite. Doesn't look good though.

  27. I can agree with this half but not the other. There just needs to be some good forethought to diversification, especially now with Lego being more forcefully restrictive on how many you can purchase of a certain set.
    1 point
  28. This is why you don't over diversify. 123 different Sets. Another reason why you don't Invest what you can't afford to lose.

  29. You're totally right. Amazon's stock has absolutely no bearing on worldwide supplies whatsoever. If they do sell out, you'd probably be safe waiting another 6 months or so before you invest.

  30. Why does it matter if Amazon dont even have any to sell? You can still buy 99 of each of these sets on lego UK

  31. That mini VW Camper is great. Now I wonder how much longer the bigger version will stick around for? Hmm.... And that is why I will never pay $100 or more for a single minifigure no matter how much I like it. If for some reason I did, I would have to be in a position of earning so much cash on a daily basis to where paying that much would quite literally be a drop in the bucket. Besides, an army builder like that would have to appear later on like this.

  32. I try to ask the following questions: 1. Do they smoke or have pets. The worst collection is the dirty, nasty bucket that you have to dig through. I still buy with both of those but it gives me clues as to what the extent of the damage will likely be, clumps of nasty dog hair or fine little white cat hair in the bottom of the tub. 2. Look for Mini Figures Just watch out for mixed lots. Yesterday I bought a nice tub. Probably 30lbs for $60. Looked like some great Star Wars and Indiana Jones figures. They were all there but no sets. The tub was def a mixed lot. Like large pieces that should have mates but are stand alone. I'll still double my money but it won't be amazing. 3. Look at the colors. If you see the tons of primary colors (especially bricks) it's probably going to have a lot of bucket-O-bricks type stuff. If you see tons of blacks and grey with splashes of color I'd probably think Star Wars. If you see lots of earth tones probably themes like Kingdoms, HP, POP, Indiana Jones, etc. Most collections will have a mix of stuff but after a while you develop a 6th sense as to what will probably be in the collection.

  33. It's all in the minifigures and instructions. My first questions are "Do you have any minifigures and/or instructions for your lot?" The minifigures alone will generally give you most all of the information you need to evaluate the worth. If it's a lot that you can only bulk out or piece out, then don't pay more than $1-2 per pound. But if you can recover some sets and it has instructions and minifigs, then you can pay $2-4 per pound. The 12-16 year olds are the best market potential right now....they generally have good valued sets, and they just want some money for video games.

  36. My kids just can't get in to them. They have some speedorz but got bored after a few hours. With Ninjago spinners, they played for hours and hours. Besides, Ninjas are cool, Wolves and Birds on steroids.....not so cool.

  37. I always try and give you guys the lastest scoope on anything I hear, My friend thats gives me this info along with that 2013 wholesale order form told me the SSDS, Tower Bridge, Fire Brigade are retiring. And there is a chance the Haunted House is done also, but not 100% Confirmed yet. "And with the new Summer 2013 Catalog that just came in the mail today, Well that about confirms it. The SSDS,Tower Bridge, and Fire Brigade are not listed. So if you don't have any Tower Bridges & SSDS I would not wait forever, Hopefully Lego will have a SSDS Black Friday Sale cheap, but as me and my son both got a catalog with a 10% Coupon I will be going to the Lego store in a few days and get 2 more Tower Bridges, plus I have 2 20% Coupons to use with it, I am waiting for a sale for more SSDS, and these will be big bucks in a few years, and i have plenty Fire Brigade's. And all you guys that wished you would of gotten alot of the Dubai, Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower's etc sets well don't screw up on the Tower Bridge. A well Known landmark will do very very well. "And about the Haunted House Retiring, well I am buying one or 2 a month, so in case in goes all of a sudden I will have plenty, I also have 13 SSDS, 21 Tower Bridge's, 17 Fire Brigades. "AND THE B-WING IS IN THE SUMMER CATALOG, AND MY FRIEND ALSO SAID THE DEATH STAR IS HEAR FOR ANOTHER YEAR." Still 6 months in the year and anything can change but this is the latest scoop. Ed
