  1. A couple of days ago, I had started a thread which was meant to be a friendly notice for all female members about the optional "Ms. Brick" award (or tag) specially designed for the fairer gender as a way of standing out in a crowd of 'just a bunch of guys'. As I stated, it was not mandatory and no one is trying to discriminate or make anybody feel uncomfortable in any way, shape, or form. The thread was simply meant to be a way of raising your hand and graciously asking for the designated award if you had wanted to. We would never force such a thing on anyone so that was why I took Eurobricks example by starting the thread to begin with. Unfortunately, it had not taken long for the thread to go way down south, amusingly enough by other men. I know of and have seen the ill treatment women receive on a daily basis at work, in the home, and on the internet in forums similar to this, so I can understand why the "Ms. Brick" award could be seen as a ‘label’ and end up making the member a target of specific chauvinistic abuse. However, whether intentional or not, stating that such sexist actions would even be allowed to happen here at all or go unchecked to start with is offensive and sounds as though you have little faith in the other contributing members of the site let alone the original owners who run it. While I cannot promise there will never be any potentially sexist, chauvinistic, or even racist people that have or will join, I can say between us moderators and administrators, we will not stand for such distasteful and vulgar acts of aggression and anyone that is verbally abusing another in that way is not a wanted member by any means and they will be shown the door and banned immediately. I don’t care if you are the biggest seller on both eBay and BrickLink; we will not tolerate sexist pigs. On a side note, out of every topic and post I have started, do you realize the "Lady Brickpickers" thread was the first of mine to ever be deleted? Yeah, how do you think that feels? Just to give you an idea of how ridiculously out of hand things became the other day (from the guys no less), let us compare my thread to Eurobricks similar one of which I took inspiration from. On November 1st, 2005 at 8:22 pm, member, Jipay, started a thread titled "Girls, stand up!" Currently at 548 posts later, it still is up and running to this very day with the last post time stamped April 26th, 2013. That is basically eight years from the original posting date and all responses have been positive and supportive. Now compare that to mine which was only posted barely two days ago and deleted before even reaching the full twenty four hours in a single day. Let that sink in for a while. Anyway, this is a closed thread (meaning you can’t post a response) leaving a friendly reminder for all lady members to send Ed Mack a private message if you would like to be presented with the “Ms. Brick” award and have it show up in your profile and replies. Now again, this is just an optional feature. No one is or ever will force anyone to do anything they do not want to. Thank you, and may sexism everywhere die a horrible and lonely death. Honestly though, I don't know how you women put up with us men's crap every day.

  3. KMart.com currently has the Ninjago: Epic Dragon Battle listed for $91.75. http://www.kmart.com/lego-ninjago-epic-dragon-battle/p-004W004754934001P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1 You can use the coupon code KPLAY5 to get an additional $5 off. There are also free Shop Your Way Rewards points sitting in your account for the July 4th holiday. I had an additional (free) $15 sitting in my account, which brought it down to $71.75 plus tax. All said and done, the final order was $76.77. Plus, EBates is giving 6% back on KMart orders right now. They usually apply the refund before the SYWR points are applied. I should get over $5 back from EBates. Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Q0ON7S/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B007Q0ON7S&linkCode=as2&

  5. Hi, and welcome to BrickPicker. Sorry for taking a while to get a response to you. So I looked in the BrickPicker database for a set with the number 1845 and came up with no results. Instead, I put in the term "jackpot" and got the following set: 1707-1: 20TH ANNIVERSARY JACKPOT BUCKET. I hope this is the correct one. The info in the database is very negligible, but the little bit of knowledge that is on the set is that it was released in 1993 like you said, but it says that it has 400 pieces. Before you get discouraged, I also did a search on a site called Brickset.com, which has a huge database with pictures of most, it not all, sets released by LEGO. In their entry, all the information matches up with that provided by you <714 pieces, released in 1993, etc.> Lucky for you, there are 4 eBay listings under "Complete Listings". Of the 4, 3 of these seem to match your description. <See more at http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=lego+1845&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc> Someone sold this set as well as another for $29.99, and another person unsuccessfully listed it for $9.99. If you were to sell it, I would list it as "MISB Vintage LEGO Lot <insert weight> 1845". However, if you are not familiar with eBay, and don't think that you will be selling a whole lot in the future, I would give it to the grandkids. Good luck!

  6. I usually have rainy days off from work, so my wife Jane and son Max decided to take a ride to the Freehold Raceway Mall to see the new LEGO store. I had a 10% off coupon to burn so I decided to buy the new 10240 X-Wing so I could compare it to the old 7191. I have to say, just from looking at the displays in the front window, I was not that impressed with the new X-Wing. What I was impressed with was the new 10237 Tower of Orthanc. What a wonderful LEGO model. Both sets are $200, yet the Tower of Orthanc was worth every penny, while the X-Wing looked like the old 7191. Now I'm sure the new X-Wing will still be a viable investment since many new fans do not have the iconic 7191, but to be quite honest, I think the B-Wing is a better buy and better looking set at this point. After looking at the Tower of Orthanc, I have to say that is the set to sink some serious cash into. It's one of the nastiest and best display sets I have ever seen. It almost looks like an Evil version of the Eiffel Tower. Very cool. The Lord of the Rings sets are going to have a banner year...

  7. The girl in the pic looks a bit like Asia Argento, but I don't think it's actually her. However I also feel like I've seen the pic before. My avatar, by the way, is some famous guy. I heard he invented the spork, was the first person to ever eat a ghost chili, saved mankind from a chia pet invasion, and had Michael Jordan over at his house for dinner last night.

  13. A couple days ago I went to my local Target and noticed they did not have any of the 2012 LOTR sets other than Mines of Moria. When I asked one of the employees he went to the back and brought a Helm's Deep and told me they were keeping those in the back for future clearance.

  14. Well my son ordered the Olivia's House from the Website 'Promotionlists.com' June 21st and still have not heard a word from Mark Smith the owner. So he Filed the Paypal Claim today. Paypal said if the seller doesn't send us the set in 10 days my son will get his $60.00 back. So will keep everybody up to date on this, but be sure and don't order anything from that website. Ed

  16. I had a water jug filled 3/4 of the way to the top with coins and singles. The $ was supposed to be for my kids first car. Long story short, we were away for thanksgiving weekend a few years back and 2 heroine addicts broke in and of all the things they could have taken they went with the 70 lb jug of coins and singles. Well the morons, of course were spotted trying to carry the jug back to their house a few blocks away and eventually they were caught. In order to be sentenced to rehab instead of prison, one of the suspects wealthy grandmother paid restitution to us. The judge set restitution at $7k. How cool would it be if I had gotten that in amazon gift cards??? Side note: when my son who was 7 at the time heard that they were giving us our money back he said "no thank you!" The reason was that at some point it was revealed that the 2 guys took the singles to a strip club and he thought we would be getting those exact dollars back. At 7 yrs old I didn't know he even knew what a strip club was much less that he had formulated an opinions about them!

  20. Yeah, I was surprised that thread was deleted, but I can understand why. It quickly got away from its purpose (and yet I couldn't stop reading it in that it's-a-train-wreck-waiting-to-happen-but-I-just-can't-look-away kind of a way). I would have kept the thread up though. It seemed like it was on its way to dying a slow death. I was about to hit the unfollow button anyway (but again, train wreck...) I opted to get the Ms. Brick award under my profile pic because I found it to be fun and not offensive, and I like collecting things. If I can collect awards, I'll take it. If it's turning out to be more trouble than it's worth, I'm fine with it going away too. (Incidentally, how many users have opted in anyway?) In the short time that I've been on this forum, I've appreciated its welcoming atmosphere and the diligence of its moderators. As a female, I've never felt uncomfortable posting on here. I was delighted to find that there was a board dedicated to Lego Friends, and the majority of my posts have been about Friends because they are my current favorite. I think they are clever and imaginative builds as well as being unapologetically girly . I noticed some head scratching over the Friends phenomenon, so I thought I would offer my thoughts as a diehard fan and as a member of their target audience. Anyway, at least you called it "Ms. Brick" and not "Brick Babe"

  21. That was especially for you! The BS runs real deep here with some. "I got 20 vampire castles for $12 bucks!" Yeah right...post the receipt. We'll still think you are cool if you really only got one for $69. And if you really only got 4 grand opening sets---you can still be our friend.

  22. Yes, the 2.5% is great, but the Macks actually get a small kick back if you link to LEGO LEGO Shop at Home from this website. Just sayin'.....

  23. While BrickPicker has no information at all on that set, I found a link on Bricker for it.And only two listings on BrickLink. One at $45 (used), the other at $150 (new). I have a couple of images here for your consideration. Is one of these your item? Oh, and welcome to the site by the way. ^_^

  24. I don't know about any threads being deleted but my overall view is that we are collectors. Whether we are male of female is irrelevant and has no true value to discriminate between the two in any thread or forum.

  25. While investing in MOCs is very, very tricky, it can be done. Granted, most MOCs that become sellable are of a quality unseen by typical LEGO sets. Below are some tips to help you calculate a fair price for what your MOCs can go for. Remember, when it comes to this type of investing, marketing is everything. 1. Calculate the cost of the bricks you used, and add 5% of each's cost on top of that original price. 2. Calculate the hours spent building the MOC and add $10 per hour. 3. If you will be including a step by step instruction booklet for the build, this will increase the price. 4. When building sellable MOCs only use new bricks. 5. If your MOC falls under a licensed theme that LEGO is currently producing take 10% of your calculated total and add it to the final price. Also, these tips are not set in stone, they are only recommendations. You may find that you could get more for a MOC or you may find that you get less. I don't create MOCs for investing myself. I find it too time consuming and not rewarding enough. Good luck to you though!

  26. I have some more questions for you StarPod. So you had roughly between 12 and 24 other friends of yours wait in line with you (assuming they were allowing 2 sets per customer)? I have a hard time getting two of my friends together to hang out on any give night let alone between 12 and 24 friends to wait online with me at 8am to buy things that they weren't even going to be able to keep. Also, How were you able to transport that number of sets around the mall/to your home? Do you have pictures you can share with us of every set you picked up today in one photo? Here is every set I got at the Freehold opening:
